- discussion #84956Invalid dateOver my lengthy employment I haven't noticed too many wives or girlfriends coming in with their hubbies or boyfriends or whatever they happen to be calling themselves but of course nowadays some clubs actually do cater to couples so in general I think that's where they should go but on the other hand I've been in regular clubs where couples do come in and as long as they don't cause a scene and actually sometimes the wives cause a scene and actually sometimes the husband's cause a scene when they see that their wives are getting too much attention from other men so the shoe can certainly be on the other foot and I've seen it
- discussion #84917Invalid dateAnd I just tried it myself I also can no longer see the reviews or anything without paying or writing a review or an article honestly how many dancers you think are going to sit down and write an article LOL
- discussion #84919Invalid dateAnd my comment says Monday May 13th at 3:05 a.m. so I guess this site must be from the West Coast because it's still May 12th 1105 pm here on the East Coast
- discussion #84917Invalid dateI guess it is in a state of flux because as a two days ago I wasn't able to comment until I commented about like the girls are really going to sit down and write an article or do reviews so voila I'm at least able to comment I haven't tried to start a discussion which I think I'll try that now
- discussion #84917Invalid dateI was told from the founder that it was discontinued for dancers but we still could get VIP if we wrote an article or did a review now honestly can you really see the dancer spending some time writing an article and most dancers don't really go to other clubs and do reviews and they really can't review their own place I mean they could but they could only say good things about it cuz if they said anything derogatory and if it happened to get back to a manager or an owner I don't think that would be too good
- discussion #84809Invalid dateI have worked at several clubs where the girls want quite as hostile as they were to you but it would make like snarky remarks or they just wouldn't even say hi to me I mean I tried to be nice and say hello and how you doing and they were just give me a look roll their eyes and I'd be like what's wrong with these girls well kind of as it turns out any newcomer to any bar the girls are a little bit on bitchy side unless you can tell them that you're friends with so and so who already works there and of course has to be like a popular person there heaven forbid if you mention someone that most of the girls don't like already then your s*** out of luck and I certainly have observed if you're an out of town girl oh they really hate you figuring you're coming in to steal their Thunder for your little bit of time or what I'm thinking is that they think that you think that you're so much better that you can intrude on their territory and truly you have to be confident to go to other clubs and there's nothing wrong with that and honestly it's their problem

- discussion #84818Invalid dateI did one one time I believe it was at the purple orchid now I just dancing when I came back into dancing when I was early 30ish so I really didn't know what to expect wasn't like back in the old days it was like a big huge stage and I think I was just wearing some simple costuming and I think I had to dance to whatever the DJ was playing so that kind of sucked but in any case I wasn't quite sure of myself my outfit wasn't quite up the par and I didn't really know what to do with the big huge stage and with music I didn't know so needless to say I didn't win but the girl who did win she was a really good dancer and she had a really awesome outfit so sometimes it really is having the best costume because that's what draws people to look at you what you're wearing
- discussion #84771Invalid dateI worked there three times in my 20 plus years
- discussion #84784Invalid dateKind of tossed at this convo on one hand I think it's good that she's still able to move around as a dancer at 60 but on the other hand I think why does she need to be still doing it at 60 I guess I am lucky to have my kids love me and care for me that I haven't had to work for quite a few years
- discussion #84779Invalid dateIn my experience I have in general liked most of my customers the only ones that I really get disgusted over are the ones who sort of physically try to restrain me and only give me like a dollar tip like they're doing me a favor now honestly I'm talking about many years ago when I worked and then they start talking some b******* about how they like to take me out and I'm like dude if you're trying to hold me here for 5 minutes and you're only giving me a dollar or two then your cheap as s*** so no thanks

- discussion #84708Invalid dateThe last three clubs I worked at one was Jack's in Philadelphia Charlie Pros and the other dangerous curves turned into Club risque at Jack's we had a jukebox and there was no silence in between sets for the girls you went up and played your songs during the second song of the three song Set by the time that girl got down you were on your way to the stage and honestly everybody kept pretty in Step I'd like to say cuz generally you made most of your money doing stage work and then you would come off the stage and they would hand you money across the bar to stick it between your boobies The only thing I hated about it is that they didn't change the music for months and months and months so we had to listen to the same songs for like three or four or five months and I'm pretty sure it didn't really cost the owner hardly anything to let the vendor change out the music I mean he came and all the time to collect his money and we didn't pay for the Jukebox that was on the bar's dime so to speak,, And I worked there for about 5 years so that's a lot of listening to the same songs for a good amount of time songs that I love the lot and just rather not hear them anymore Working at Charlie Pro's which was around the corner from Jack's Google bar which is now called Brianna's Charlie's is actually the last bar that I retired from I was there for like 3 or 4 years they also played for a jukebox at the bar paid for then they got the bright idea that they could do like the big boy bars gentlemen clubs that they could have and not pay the girls to work there and Jack started with the pay too before we used to get a small supplemental pay to just show up that way it ensures that girls are always there and then they both sort of went to you get paid every other time you work then it went you got paid on your third time more of this at Jack's then of course some girls just wouldn't even show up so like me and my girlfriend we only live two or three blocks so we were always getting called so we didn't care if we were getting paid or not cuz they actually went down to nobody should work there more than two shifts per week well that didn't turn out so good for them because me and her were always getting call to go in Then Charlie went right to not paying anything thinking that they had one little cubicle with a chair in it with a curtain around it that that would be a good way for the girls to make money which was $20 and I think you had to give 10 of it to the bar well of course most of the guys didn't really go for that and I'm kind of thinking most of the girls didn't really like it either especially that they were getting paid to even go there so what eventually happened is even though every girl had a schedule to go there the girls previously scheduled or postly scheduled would just stay excessively longer get dressed hang out with a few customers that were there and the customers would just you know slipping money and inside their blouses or down their pants or whatever and so when it was time for the girls to come off stage there were no customers to go to or the customers would already be tapped out from the other girls who stayed past their shift or came in earlier to try to grab as much money as they could and as far as I can remember once all that started happening they didn't stay into business too long and of course neither did Jack's And then I worked at Club risque so kind of around the same time I wound up retiring from like all three of them like in succession but I think Jax was first and then risque and then Charlie's by the time only going down maybe twice a week there already had secured a regular part time job I liked it much better when it was dangerous curves so most of my time was when it was dangerous curves and just a couple months when it was Club risque but they had their own DJ so we could pick around music so I kind of like that but being the oldest dancer there that I know of they didn't really have any sixties and seventies music that I could really rock out to that they did have a DJ for a short time that I would tell him some of the music and he would actually get it and play it for me when I was there and a lot of the guys were really surprised hearing stuff and seeing a dance are actually dance to stuff from the '60s and '70s

- discussion #84742Invalid dateI think the dancers today don't really want to be dancers they work at the clubs until they find that special person that they are looking for,,, That is also why I think that you just see some girls sitting over in some spot and they don't really interact with any customers either because they're not seeing anybody of Interest to get them where they need to be or have some arrangement with someone but you never know they are still always looking for the next best thing so they just show up at the club keep thier eyes and ears open and wait for the next best thing to come along,,,
- discussion #84740Invalid dateNo one can say that they are the highest paid stripper in the number one strip club because almost all strip clubs think they're number one and a lot of dancers think their number one πππππππ

- discussion #84237Invalid dateThat list is actually going to change as I have been researching the bars and clubs I've worked at over my early career and my later career one or two places I thought I worked I didn't and then I found one or two places that I did work that I forgot about or it change names and I didn't really know what it was called so I kind of bypassed it at the time I made the original post of all the places I thought I worked plus trying to remember where and when I worked 20 to 40 years ago is quite a feat

- discussion #83606Invalid dateI don't remember seeing any in any of the clubs that I worked either earlier or later in my career but I heard there were and I worked quite a few clubs
- discussion #83606Invalid dateWell that's the way they did it especially in my first round of working and as far as I know it went way back and I guess that's just the way they did it until whatever happened to make the change that that the clubs could start to hire their own girls in any event I remember my agency the lady who ran it many many years and Who had most of the clubs in the Philadelphia area I would say like 70% and there were two other agencies that I know of so between those two they had 30% of the other clubs but I remember her saying after being with her for a few years that she was going to retire and I guess when she retired and or something happened with the laws and Philadelphia that the owners could hire their own dancers
- discussion #83606Invalid dateI mean you may have had that a little bit but since there was an agent that handled all the earlier bookings at just about all the bars and clubs in the area I'm sure somebody tried to get away with it and I'm not really sure how the different agencies handled it if the dancer would come back and say you know the manager the owner try to get sex from me in order to work there but I'm kind of guessing if it was an ongoing thing with a few complaints the agency that I work for who had about 70% of all the bars and clubs in and around Philadelphia she would just tell them well you got to find another agency and hope that that agency could fulfill however many girls they needed in order the agency I had like I said had most of the bars and clubs and the other two agencies that I know of had 30% between the two of them It's definitely more prevalent today or since the agencies stopped actually working in the bar started hiring the girls themselves since now they have a free hand of doing whatever they want with no fear of Retribution and knowing that some girls are more desperate than others in order to work at a particular Club or they may get asked to do parties or I think at one Club so I was asked if I wanted to go with a couple other girls at some kind of break time at a high stakes poker game entertain the guys I guess kind of no different than going to a bachelor party or whatever but I never did go do it I don't think I stayed at the Club much later then I was asked and that's not the reason I left the club I was actually at the club for quite a while I think at that point I was kind of weaning my way out of dancing and I was already working in a 9:00 to 5:00 type job part-time

- discussion #83606Invalid date@nicespice...question 4 Age limit restrictions Yes I believe you had to be 18 because that was the first question that my agent asked me and I said 18 even though I wasn't going to be 18 for a few months now I think I was like 17 and a half... And in my early career I don't know if they had an age limit there may have been clubs that did... Same as today there may be clubs that just one girls who are all under 25 or at least look under 25 some clubs don't mind the older... I think by today's standards they are looking for girls who of course keep themselves in shape but that's in the eye of the beholder pretty much looking for girls that are going to break their ass and try to get as many customers to fork over as much money as they can so they could take it away from the girls...

- discussion #83652Invalid dateFor me it depended on what kind of club I worked at and how many times I knew I would have to get go up on stage and dance... Of course bigger clubs expected you to have fancier costumes then the smaller bars and of course the local corner bar which I did a whole bunch of them in my career the less you wore the better...lol

- discussion #83606Invalid date@nicespice... Back in the day before the dancers had to physically go to each club and audition... I can tell you how you're not getting hired pretty much right away and I'm sure it's happened to me once or twice in my career and honestly probably more than that cuz bars are looking for the type of girl that the majority of their clientele are looking for So anyway you show up you go in the door you see the bartender and the bartender really knows why you're there so are you up first and you can kind of get a look by them alone whether or not you're getting in or not but if they tell you straight out of the manager's not in or you know why don't you call then you know you're not getting in because there is always a manager in the back on duty from before the bar opens till well after the bar closes., or sometimes what to do is they'll make you sit there for a few minutes and the cameras look down on you from in the office and they can see you and then what will happen is the bartender will tell you she'll go see if she can find the manager or see if they're in or whatever and then she'll leave for a few minutes going to the office which the manager is there and from seeing you on the camera he'll either say yes give her the audition or tell her to call if it happened to be like super busy for some reason... And if they don't give you the true phone number of the place like if she doesn't say you know this is our number give us a call then you know you got a 50-50 chance of getting in there but if they just say I wanted to try calling tomorrow you know when the manager's in then generally that means you're not getting in the club I've been through it been there done that know all their tricks... Because what will happen is that they just tell you to call it never just goes to the manager office first or it goes to some subpar manager and you know you'll say well I was in there yesterday you know about 5:00 you know sometimes if you leave your name they'll remember your name and say whatever your name is and if you said your name was starlight and they remember you from the night before the manager will be like in the background saying no no don't hire her LOL So anyways I know I'm sorry that I slip off into a big long thought process about different things Anyways back in the day well in Philadelphia bucks and surrounding counties I'm not sure outside of Philly New Jersey and bucks let me think back in my early days I didn't work in Jersey I just worked in Philadelphia and bucks county so there were talent agencies I know there were three that I can recall there was the one I worked at it was called allied talent agency she was located at bustleton and Philmont something like that and she was the top agency around where she had I think I'm guessing like 70% of all the bars signed up with her to find girls to work for them and then there were two other lesser agencies that I guess shared the other 30% of bars to find girls to work for those clubs And the only reason I picked this agency is cuz my roommate manager knew the lady whose business it was but I don't think I really ever asked him how he knew her but oh well could you do and I actually seen him well I live with him for about 6 months and then I moved out on my own and then I seen him maybe a few months later and then I seen him many years later I guess I might have been 30 and then of course I never seen him again but going over some obituary postings he died about 10 years ago and of course that time I think he was 72 Now since the agency I used she had so many clubs you had to come to her office and you had to bring an outfit and she had like a little room in the back you changed into it and you came out I mean you didn't have to dance around or anything I think she asked you a couple questions you know how old you are...why do you want to dance... do you have a car do you take a bus Do you know how to dance.. have you danced with anybody else before...where do you live... What area were you looking to do most of your work are you willing to travel how far are you willing to travel... Then I guess you would size you up and kind of place you where she thought you would work out best... If she knew a bar where they didn't really care for tattoos and piercings they wouldn't send a girl there who had those things... And pretty much I think some of the girls already stalked out some bars you know either they pass by them where they went in checked it out real quick or they heard from friends you know that you know they think that she could go work in that bar so they already kind of have a preset notion of where they want to go.. So the agency would give you a couple of light schedules and sort of depends on what time you wanted to work there's some girls who only wanted to work lunch and cocktails some girls just wanted to work at night some girls wanted to do all of it that was me I did all the shifts so that actually worked out well for me cuz it made me pretty popular and I would take like any shift of course I will run myself ragged But it certainly opened me up to being able to get more shifts because I didn't have to fit in any mold of a timeline and it was also up to the agency to make sure there were girls there however many of the bar required per shift so we'll just take for instance one bar has a 12 to 2...4 to 7:00 and say a 9 to 2:00 The agency would have to find one or two girls for the lunch shift at least two girls for the cocktail shift and two to three girls at the night shift and that's only one bar and if this lady had 70% of all the bars and clubs that's a lot of girls per day per week per month That left me open to pick up all these shifts that needed to be filled because I could essentially just pick up and go but of course too she had to make sure there were different girls at the clubs also people didn't want to see the same faces well sometimes they do but she had to make sure there was at least a variety of girls at each of the clubs and then once she got in the variety if she started I guess getting kind of strapped a day or two before this shifts needed to be covered then I guess she would call the girls who were ready there that week once or twice and of course they'd be there two or three times that week instead that'd be me... So now in any event when she would give you you know just a couple of dates maybe just two or three one to make sure you showed up then whatever the bars that she sent you to would call her and let her know whether or not they like you or not so then of course now you showed up the bar likes you and I'm sure they would comment on other things like your personality you know whether you drank you showed up on time you danced or couldn't dance I guess maybe some bars didnt care if you danced... I used to have a friend she couldn't dance worth of Bean but she was tall and she was beautiful she had long brown hair down to her butt she had beautiful outfits but all she did was shimmy back and forth on the stage..I don't even think I ever saw her arms up in the air but she was awesome to look at... So now the next part of you got paid to work there at every bar from every agency and I guess it was between 10 and $12 an hour and you had to give the agency 10% of what the bar was paying you and yes they kept records of what each bar was paying for that particular shift all across the board so they knew you made $30 for that shift you can say well the bar only paid me $25 they know the bar paid 30... And you I guess on a trial basis for about 2 weeks so they would make sure you showed up on time they would send you to a couple different bars to see where you fit in best and of course the more the bars okayed you the more other bars she was confident to send you to and then start giving you night shifts because they certainly didn't want to leave any night shift work short-handed so every two weeks or every week if you happen to live near the agency or we're passing by the agency you had to stop in and pay your dues I guess I want to say dues for them getting you the jobs... And of course they wanted you to try to work as much as you could cuz the more everybody works the more money they make Now the other two smaller agencies since they didn't have that many bars you actually went to audition at one of the bars that they were in agency for and I guess you kind of did the same thing you want to trial for 2 weeks if you showed up so forth and so on
- discussion #83421Invalid dateSince most of the girls all worked the same bars within like a 5-mile proximity we all pretty much knew all the customers from all the bars at least all the regulars anyhow and in any event more customers mean more money for the dancers and the bartenders and the bouncers and the DJ...
- discussion #83606Invalid dateSo we are now on to the second part of the first question what were places like back then I already described on top of the bar work now this will be stage work Sometimes the stages were large and sometimes they were just little things stuck in a corner somewhere I guess just depending on how big the bar was In my earlier career I worked at the Red Raven spanky's cherries tattletales on the boulevard it may have been called tattletales too.. the Esquire lounge at five points at Castor and cottman the last time I heard about that it was like a takeout steak shop.. the Cameo lounge on cottman and the boulevard I believe that's a whole big storefront of a some kind of Food Market across the street from the mall ... I believe my very first stage dancing happened at the carousel lounge on torresdale avenue in Philadelphia now that whole block is used car dealership with automotive repair...... And as it turns out I think a year later my now x got a job working at a place right across the street where he stayed for 16 years...but of course he never let anybody know about me dancing he didn't like me dancing and I just started dancing a months before I met him... But he wasn't paying my bills so he really couldn't say much... So let's move on so it was only stage work the customers didn't touch you you weren't allowed to fraternize in order to get tips they were handed to the bartender the bartender handed them to you or the guys used to make airplanes with their money and zip it to the stage or they used to roll it up in little balls and and throw it onto the stage for you of course if it missed the stage or whatever the bartenders had to go around and pick it all up sometimes at the stages were in close proximity to the actual bar with the customers you know you could both just reach over and they could hand it to you when you were done your set you just collected all your money you got up and they always had a little sitting area for the girls where you went to the dressing room to get ready for the next time you were up the girls would generally at night time it would be a 9:00 to 2:00 shift or maybe 9:00 to 1:00 shift and sometimes an eight to one shift so they're usually were at least three girls on the night shift at most places so you figure if you did three dances you were going to go back up after six more songs so you really didn't even have time to delete daily or anything cuz six songs go pretty fast and you're not going around the bar or anything so you literally dancing most of your night which ultimately too is pretty exhausting with three girls doing three sets all night long but I used to make a bag full of money don't really know how much that was cuz I was too exhausted to be counting it so I'd get picked up I got home and maybe chat a few minutes .. Sometimes my roommate would have a friend or two there having a beer or whatever and he had male and female friends who would just come over stop by or whatever In any event I made so much money that my roommate used to throw parties without me there yes he would use my money to throw a party of course some of these people were my friends too but still more his friends or if it happened to be females who may have been interested in getting into dancing he would be like you know talk to her and tell her things about dancing to see if she'd be interested in dancing so I did think I got a couple girls into dancing whether they stayed in it for long or not I don't know And yes for the parties at the the apartment which was my roommate's apartment when I came home I didn't care if there was a party every now and then I would sit down and for taking you know maybe for another 30 or 40 minutes stay up say hi to everybody you know maybe grab some food probably have a drink and unbelievable as it may seem I didn't drink when I danced in my early career hardly... Maybe I had one drink and the rest I drank water or soda... In any case when I came home and if I was ready to go to bed everybody had to quiet down I mean they still could listen to music and I had the far bedroom so as long as I could sleep and by that time 3:00 in the morning I was pretty damn tired... And you think I'm a young girl 18 19 20 years old I should be up in partying all night long while I worked five or six nights and or days a week So it wasn't like I just worked one shift a day I might have worked two or three night shifts and the other couple days worth a lunch and a cocktail or worth a cocktail and a night and or work a night and had to be at a cocktail the next day So the explanation of lunch cocktail and night shift most clubs had a lunch which could have been anywhere from 11:00 to 2:00 sometimes they were only 2 hours like 11:00 to 1:00 or 12:00 to 2:00 then they had the cocktail hour which could have been anything from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and it could have been any variety hours in there but usually three or four hours and out of all these shifts you got paid to work there as I best recall $12 an hour... And of course night shift anything after 9:00 and like I said generally the bigger bars had three girls smaller bars may have only had two or it may have depended on the night you know whether it was a weeknight or a weekend some had all three girls come in from 9:00 to 2:00 or 9:00 to 1:00 some had them a little staggered and someone coming in at 8:00 someone coming in at 9:00 someone coming in at 10:00 And there was no fraternization generally the girls were off sitting in a separate area of the bar or they went to their dressing room... And if you went over to where the girls were sitting the bartenders would yell at you after they gave you a minute or two... And I believe they didn't let the girls drink a whole lot I mean they knew what the girls drank and if the customers bought them stuff and they felt like the girl had her limit of two or three drinks then they weren't allowed to buy the girls anything after that I guess that was good that way the girls didn't fall off the side of the stage LOL

In my younger years just in Philly and Bucks and then in my later years Philly Bucks New Jersey and Daytona Beach.. and I know what you mean by misspent use if I wasn't working in a bar I was drinking in bars that I wasn't working at unbelievable how many beautiful summer days went by of course if you have to work you work but just to still be hanging around in a bar on days that you're not even working and I wasn't even a big drinker That's where all my friends went so that's where I went and even when vacation going down to the Jersey shore what did you do you drank you drank all day went to the clubs at night and you still drank some more and like I said I wasn't like a big drinker so I'm sure I had my fair share but just think of all those wasted days and wasted nights of drinking your life away.. in fact I can tell you what I drank and I'm really not sure what the drinking age was at the time I'm pretty sure 21 and I was a far cry from 21 and I'm sure I didn't look 21 but down the shore me and my girlfriend will wear the shortest shorts and the skimpiest little bra top and we would go right in and pick up our two bottles of wine which were called the $1.9 wine and if I had a little bit more money with me I used to get this brand which didn't actually tell you the flavor it just had cool names and was about 50 cents more so if anybody could figure out what brand that was I believe that brand is no longer being sold for a long time but the dollar nine wine brand is still being sold but of course different flavors...
- discussion #83612Invalid date@motorhead got love Jamie... I remember Elvis and Beatles songs but don't recall the memory of seeing Elvis or the Beatles... My earliest recollection of hearing and seeing someone singing songs of that time was Tom Jones my mother loved him and of course my dad hated him but of course he loved Joey Heatherton... And as for the Beatles my oldest brother well technically is not my oldest brother he was my step brother...my dad was married three times so I have to explain that his first wife he had a son and a daughter... Then he married my mother which I'm the oldest than unfortunately I had a baby sister right after me and not really sure what she died of but she didn't even make it out of the hospital but I guess they call that sudden infant death syndrome now... And then she popped out three boys within a few years so I Believe by the time she was 25 she had four for her own kids and two for my dad's previous marriage... Then after she left a few years later he married another woman well I'm not sure if they actually even married but she's actually the mother that raised me from 6 years old until 16 I would say after that kind of was on my own doing my own thing partially living with my half sister from my dad's first marriage Well anyway when it comes to the Beatles my step brother who was collecting Beatles albums from the very start so he had all first issue recordings well a few years later he got married a month or so later his wife left him for a drummer in a band and she took all of this beatle albums... So that really sucked because they would have been worth a pretty penny in today's market... I buy and sell albums so I know the worth...
- discussion #83612Invalid date@ilbbaicnl I see that you have been through some of the changes over the years as have I I have only known two bars that you worked on top of the bar itself and the rest were stage dancing... And of course the stage dancing the customers either rolled up their money and threw it on the stage to you or made little airplanes or gave it to the bartender and the bartender handed it to you or if the stage and the bar were pretty much in close proximity to each other the customer and you could reach out and hand it over Then I wound up working at The Red Raven and here they just had the stage in the middle and you were allowed to go around the inside of the bar and collect tips that way but you still weren't allowed to sit with the customers or really chat with the customers and you went just back in the dressing room to get ready for your next set and that's pretty much how it went for the rest of my early career that bars will still set up that way there was no table dancing no VIP rooms or anything of that nature at least in any of the places I've worked and as you tell I've worked at a lot of places in Philadelphia bucks county and New Jersey Now when I came back to dancing I believe the first two bars I worked at was Dangerous Curves so kind of like a completely different setup big huge bar big stage and you were allowed to go on the outside of the bar to make money I didn't know if they had VIP rooms at that time or not I know I didn't do any of that of course I didn't know in fact when I came back to dancing and I did my first set on the stage I was wearing a beautiful two-piece bra and panty set from Victoria's secrets and had stockings on well anyway I dance my little heart out... So after I was done I was allowed to go around and collect my tips and then I went to the dressing room to get dressed after that you know went into the manager's office to see if they liked me and give me a schedule... Well the first thing out of the manager's mouth was do you take your bra off... And it took me back for a second and I'm thinking do I take my bra off so it didn't even register and I'm thinking what is he asking me do I take my bra off and I think he said something to the effect that the girls Go topless here and I didn't really understand what that meant because I'm from the old school where nobody went topless and if you didn't have a top one you had pasties on... And I think I just answered them yeah I can do that and we laughed and I worked there for a few years... And I worked there for a short time after it was Club Risque... Which at this point of time there was couch dancing VIP room and who knows what else went on... I also have a very interesting story about this bar which I will post sometime in the future

- discussion #83606Invalid dateI'm sure I did if you didn't bother me I didn't bother you... I mean I could tell from reading stuff in the papers about some of the clubs being under surveillance... And years later after I got done working some of the clubs cuz some of them I didn't stay at the whole time finding out that owners and managers were all indicted and did or doing time... The money laundering I don't really know but if it had any connections with Mafia underworld stuff I'm sure there was where it went I don't know and of course it's better I didn't know LOL And I was in the know a little bit because my best male friend was a police officer on the force for 25 years so when I would tell him where I was working he wouldn't comment directly on what's going on but would just say be careful don't get involved... I never did get involved with any owners or managers kind of like you don't s*** where you eat...
- discussion #83421Invalid dateFrom my experience it is true a lot of dancers do look down especially on other dancers who work at other clubs but like anything it is survival of the fittest and just with anything within each club there is a click of girls who don't like another click of girls but that's the way it is and it's hard for a newbie to come in because now she's caught between two or three sets of girls who are eyeing her up and trying to figure out you know whether or not she looks like she belongs to one of their groups kind of like a sorority...lol... I have never been an extras girl and I think most of the clubs I worked at weren't extra clubs but there may be some shenanigans going on I mean I can't be everywhere and know what everyone is doing in a bar in a dance room in the manager's office... And honestly working at Philly I worked at the craziest go-go bar in the city no matter what club I went to soon as I would say where I worked they were like oh that's a dive that sucks the girls are horrible just some of the comments people would make I would just so in essence they kind of look down on me but of course then when I got to their bar audition and got hired at their bar they kind of changed their tune either a little bit about liking me more or they were just totally distressed that they couldn't believe that somebody worked at the crazy bar could actually work at an "upstanding" bar like theirs... Unfortunately for some of these girls who didn't like me any I was a crowd favorite and the bartenders usually loved me because all my nights off or if I worked at other bars and finished early those patrons would follow me to whatever other go-go bar I wanted to frequent usually because I was friends with other dancers and other bars so if I had time I would go see my girlfriend's dance and so I would just bring along the crowd if I could sometimes it was only one or two people sometimes I could bring five or six people so bartenders got to love that along with the girls of course especially if it was a slow night But in my last 8 years of working I worked three bars that were only a few blocks from each other and a lot of the girls also worked all three bars you know some may have only worked two bars but a lot of us interchanged bars so we were pretty tight knit group... We all hung out drink had picnics together kind of knew each other's family or had at least met some people within their families slept over each other's houses so I would say that's a pretty tight group and instead of us looking down on each other we would play off each other Like at my one club if I'd be up on stage and you know just dancing and you know looking out at the crowd and saying hello to Joe schmo and trying to have a conversation across the bar you know maybe I'd see you know my girlfriend dancer you know coming up to the bar to get a drink or whatever and I'd be like why don't you come on up here girlfriend and of course you know depending on what she was doing you know she may come up come on the stage with me and you know we may do a little cute two girl dance then of course you know the guys were crazy about that and then we were all done we go down and get tips you probably got more tips cuz that's what guys want to see And not only that a lot of girls really got to appreciate me since I was ready older than most of them in fact I probably was older than any girl working at the club when I started later cuz already I was then 35 so there may have been some who may have been in there early 30s but you figure I work till I was 50 sometimes they would look up to me as I would say they're older aunt and they would ask me questions and you know what should they do you know like with their scenario that they needed help with and I would just try to give him my best guess you know or give them some different possibilities of what they could do and I wasted stress to the younger girls that this is not a career you know it's good for the money good temporarily but why you're doing this you got to look to go to get back to school so you can have a little bit normal life cuz there's nothing normal about being a stripper unless you have a really good head on your shoulders And the only reason I had a really good head on my shoulder is cuz I danced for a few years when I was younger so of course I was like a wild child doing whatever I did going wherever I went spending all kinds of money not paying attention to what I'm spending it on I probably lost a lot of money cuz I wasn't paying attention to what my bookkeeper was doing with it but when I started back being 35 I was already pretty well versed in the world... I tried to get a lot of the girls to start a savings account because honestly fast money spends fast and if you don't have it on the books of like how much you make and how much you're spending you don't have a recollection of anything cuz at least if you had the books you could say oh man I really need to save more spend less but of course that's an any business But not always easy to do because there's always stuff you need and of course with dancers you sort of have to keep up with the times you need your hair and nails done you have to keep having new clothing new shoes cuz you don't want to keep wearing the same stuff especially if you work at the same club for long periods of time So anyway that's my rant for now
- review #402636Invalid dateI used to know a girl named Sugar who worked there also I remember a girl named Mary Ann the good old days... I never worked there personally but I know the other two girls from another club that we all worked at... I think Mary Ann worked there for a good long time and she must have had her breasts done three or four times so they were pretty huge... So if you were at the club while she was working there you would certainly remember her...
- discussion #83599Invalid dateYes I am thinking of writing a book that's why I've been doing a lot of research and talking to people and and honestly trying to find some of these places that have been buried in old men's minds well you figure I'm 63 so most of the people that knew about these places are older than me and even the people who own some of the clubs or if they're bars or other restaurants now they're really surprised when I tell them that this used to be a go-go bar it's funny when I give him the news should see the look on their faces and if there are women present you always get some snarky remark like that's disgusting or I would have never done that or something to that effect and honestly like I said I'm 63 years old I'm holding my own I'm not a beauty but yet soon as I say I was a dancer usually the men's reactions are that's cool and and some of them still ask me if I dance but the girls are like what the freak and you can tell they don't want their boyfriends or husbands even looking or talking to me... I guess they think I'm going to just run on over there and steal their man from them,.. which I never did in my whole life... Way too many other fish in the sea LOL.. I always thought about opening a go-go club but I think that ship has sailed but I might have done it if I would have found a good partner who had the finances and I certainly would have been the manager And I wanted a different type of go go club like one back in the day Girls in the middle of the stage they could go around the inside of the bar for tips but you weren't allowed to touch them you know except to put money in between their boobies there is no couch dancing no extras all the girls had to be over 30 and all had to have a special talent and I'm not talking about stripper pole work I wouldn't be looking to hire acrobats even though some clubs like that... But like I said I think that ship has passed I don't really know anybody who owns any bars now certainly back in the day when I was younger and had a lot more energy I knew many owners bartenders bouncers bar backs...
- discussion #83606Invalid dateThe two places that I worked on top of the bar one was called Straccios... I just found it recently under some old property post from the city it was actually called strasseo's catering delicatessen and restaurant but I always win at night time so I don't remember like seeing any of that stuff I just seen the bar door and I went in and when my night was over I came out and that was the end of that.. so anyway that bar is now called mcstew's Irish pub still standing there on New Falls road The other place was called The Plaza... I thought it was on bustleton ave my guess it was either in bustleton Welsh... Bel Air... Grant plaza.. but I'm thinking it was up further than Grant... So I always thought I had it in my mind that it was up at the feasterville trevose shopping center but for some reason I counted it out I don't know why because I lived in Croydon... So if anybody's following this thread are there any bars in Bel Air or feasterville trevose or Grant shopping centers... Knowing that's a long shot from that many years ago sometimes they stay as bars sometimes they go into the pizza parlor restaurant delicatessen business and sometimes the whole inside of a property gets demolished and turns into something new
- discussion #83606Invalid dateI guess first we'll start off with question one There were two different kinds of strip clubs one you worked on the bar and you want around the bar now I'm pretty sure some girls were hardier than others so send may have only did a half a bar got off you know took the rest and some could do a full bar And as best as I recall now if you can imagine night time in a bar that's dark smokey and these particular bars that had dancers on top there wasn't a seat to be filled not only that there are people up against the wall waiting for the people in front to spend all their money so they can move into one of the seats On top of that I never seen it or heard about it any girls falling off which is pretty amazing considering dark bar wet having glasses on it people's drinks their money and who knows what they may have had their cigarettes but we didn't wear high shoes either most girls just wore ballet slippers some had bare feet can you imagine that bare feet on top of a bar I'm sure the bartenders did their best to keep everything dry Not only that really hard on the knees because like you're standing up and you're moving say to the next customer and the customer who's sitting in the chair doesn't want to look all the way up at you he wants you to come down and like talk to him or you know they want to look at your boobies or and of course some of them want to try to put their fingers in your g string so you're trying to out wit them from doing that while trying to take their money lol So your hunched down with your butt almost touching the bar while you're face to face chatting with the customer and trying to get him money as they're sort of trying to grope you but of course most girls you know let their boobies be touched but of course some girls were allowing men to get a little feel of their private areas cuz they were making money so it just depended what kind of girl you were and I didn't fall anybody for doing anything whatever if you wanted to do that that was fine with me but I wasn't letting any man touch my private parts so what happens then is when like if you're 22 seconds into it and they're not giving you any more money you stand up and you move to the next person now imagine doing pretty much at least I would say 2 hours a night in a 5-hour shift no considering if you got off the bar halfway or if you did around a whole bar Pretty exhausting at the end of the night and in fact I made so much money I feel the duffel bag and that when my manager roommate came and pick me up every night I went right home and went to bed I didn't care how much money was in the bag he either stayed up and counted it or counted it in the morning you know kind of depending on what time we actually got home So actually this is the first part of your first question And to boot you got paid to work there initially just for showing up I forget how much it really was but I think it came to like $12 an hour And you only expected to pay the bartender a couple dollars I guess they would have really liked having like a percentage of whatever you made but I never knew how much I made so I guess I should just hand them a handful of ones and put it in their tip jar don't quite remember any of that
- discussion #83568Invalid datePretty sure I never worked there but did work at diamond Dolls up the street
- discussion #83597Invalid dateIf anyone is complaining that these ladies are want machines...that's their job... So if you don't want to experience that stay out of the clubs or steer away from that type of lifestyle Or find yourself a woman with a legitimate job... A lot of women these days don't need a man to sponge off of they're smart have good jobs... And they don't need to be in a relationship where they have to settle... That's why a lot of men complain that they can't find a girlfriend or they can't stay in a relationship because women don't settle... Of course there are those who do...men and women through whatever circumstances in life keeps them together or forces them to stay together...
- review #391149Invalid dateI have been out of the loop for a little while what does PL mean? Double aa dancers? Elevated stage booth?
- discussion #83576Invalid dateWell the main label is strip club but with a lot of subcategories Strip club... Gentlemen's club... Gogo bar... And sex clubs that label themselves as strip clubs... And the same for girls who may work at any one of these type of clubs... Strippers... Exotic dancers... Go go girls... Sex workers... And I've been out of the loop for a long time so I'm sure there's many other names given to all different types of girls doing a myriad of occupations But I think we were leaning on the conversation being more of true Go-Go bars...
- discussion #83581Invalid dateHere here...
- discussion #83573Invalid dateI should write a book actually I've been thinking of writing a book for the past couple of years I don't know something about the adventures of my time as a dancer which I certainly have put in enough time all the ins and outs trials and tribulations... My kids tell me to go for it but I have to find a ghostwriter to help me...
- discussion #83573Invalid dateGeez we really should read before we press send...
- discussion #83573Invalid dateI know what you meant LOL
- discussion #83573Invalid dateSo then I started doing stage work and honestly you got to remember when I got started dancing I had no idea what was actual Go-Go dancing in bars I mean pretty much I grew up with go go girls that I seen on TV with short mini skirts and white boots dancing on the stage or inside little cages of course that certainly wasn't the case Yes so my two earliest stage clubs was the carousel lounge on torresdale avenue and the Esquire bar at five points Castor avenue my God I loved those bars...
- discussion #83573Invalid dateIt's supposed to say chintzy..lol...... Well during my first year in my early early career when I worked the plaza strasio's that was work on top of the bar and honestly I look back at that and wonder if any girls ever fell off I mean it was dark the bar is narrow some girls were barefoot some were like just ballet shoes I mean you couldn't wear a tall high heels or anything and then you're scooching between literally the bar was full of men there was not a seat in the house not only that up against the wall at least I know what the plaza cuz it was a lot smaller than strasseus the men were lined up against the wall waiting for the person in the seat in front of them to run out of money so they could go sit in the seat And I never heard of any dancers falling off the bar so that's quite an accomplishment to go around a huge bar and nobody falling off with glasses the bar is wet people have their cigarettes and their lighters and money just thrown all around the bar My roommate who is also my manager took me to and from all of my gigs to tell you how much money I made I couldn't quite tell you I used to fill up a duffel bag of money at the end of the night and I had a locker under lock and key because I couldn't hold all the money that I was making doing the round and honestly the time I got done one night at either Strauss you as a plaza and got home at 3:00 in the morning or 2:30 I couldn't have cared less how much money I made I was so exhausted so you have to remember when you're working on top of the bar you're standing up you're moving to the next person and then your hunched down in front of them and you're like kind of face to face with them and you chat for 30-40 seconds and they give you money and of course 10 or 20 seconds after that if they're not keeping giving you money you stand up and you move to the next person and you do the same thing going around the bar so I was doing stressios and plaza at least one night a week if not 3 nights between the two of them And yes after about 6 months of pretty much just doing the bar work I could tell my knees were given out I remember the last time I actually worked the bar or may not have been the very last time I actually think I just took some time off from actually doing top of the bar work I was fine until I got down off the bar I got dressed and I sat there for like a few minutes waiting for my ride to come but after sitting there for a few minutes I couldn't get up like my knees just wouldn't move he had to come in and Carry me in the dresser room to the car and then he carried me from the car into the house so pretty much that's how I knew that those days were kind of over I guess maybe looking back on it if I would have just did each one of those bars just one day a week I probably would have been able to prolong it a little bit Anyway that's the first part of the story Oh I've got to tell you how much was in the bag at night I don't know it must have been a lot I mean talking about me filling up it was an old authentic Air Force bag like made of material and that thing used to just be crammed with money and like I said I went home and I went to sleep and my roommate manager I guess he counted it out at night time or in the morning I just remember seeing you know stacks of money on a table and honestly I don't even really know how much I made but I guess he took a better part of it one to pay for rent too my other roommate girlfriend she didn't work well technically she was sort of like my maid actually she was kind of like the maid in the apartment she kept the apartment nice kept everything clean washed all my clothes but she kind of only lived there part time cuz she went home a lot to her actual family's house I guess to help them do whatever needed to be done there And of course he probably paid himself for his time on taking me back and forth and with my money he probably paid for all the gas the insurance on his car But he took me like everywhere I wanted to go even outside of work I mean we ate it the best restaurants I mean nice restaurants where the owners came over and talked to us we went to New York a lot he made me read a lot on the nights that I wasn't working he always had like a book for me to read and most of them were science fiction cuz I was in a science fiction and I was into like the whole big Star wars thing when a very first came out and I went up to New York and I was always getting like the most latest copies of any type of magazines comic books posters too bad all that went by the wayside when I moved out

- discussion #79136Invalid dateI started back dancing when I was 35 and I continued till I was 50... I have a friend who's still in the business and she's 54... I thought about going back at my age at 63 cuz I am still physically fit but to actually put on a pair of high heels and work in them maybe somewhat of a challenge especially since I have vertigo and I don't see too good out of my one eye There are ladies working in Vegas that are in their 60s and 70s but of course they have been doing it and that is their way of life keeping physically fit in order to be able to do it till that age plus they've also had a lot of plastic surgery on their face boobs stomach and ass they look good from afar but once you see them up close you can tell how much work they've had done.... More power to them for being able to withstand all the craziness that comes with that job...
- discussion #83576Invalid dateYes Philadelphia had a wide variance of different types of clubs Go-Go bars strip joints strip clubs gentlemen's clubs when I look back there used to be a ton of clubs and now they're kind of just strewn here and there and most of them are all the same big stages pay to get in make the girls pay to stay and a lot of times most of the girls look the same at any particular bar...

- discussion #83573Invalid dateWell we're still talking about I would say 1996 or 1997 well that's the thing too dancers are always looking for the next bar a better bar if they don't feel they're making with their making at wherever they're at they're always open to the option of looking at other places and you have to at least try them out to see whether you're a good fit for the club or not sometimes you're not a good fit for the club or you don't like the club or you don't like something about the club you don't like the DJ you don't like the music or maybe you have to you know sit with one customer for 2 hours before you can get a lap dance and then turns out that they're Quincy anyhow so you just wasted 2 hours on one person that you only made $100 off of I always worked out best in my later career at just a small mom and pop bars that were deemed I would say not quite like the ballpark LOL Like Jack's.. Charlie pros... I did good at dangerous curves but for some reason it kind of changed when it became Club risque though I did work there for a short amount of time but when it was dangerous curves I worked there for a couple years also along with Jacks and Charlie's and I believe with a short stint at daydreams but between Jack's Charlie's and dangerous cars which were all in proximity to each other that's where I stayed for quite a few years I believe I worked at Jack's for 8 years And still all the while still trying out other bars if you see all the places that I've worked I was still I guess maybe just for something different or that I just wasn't working the same bar constantly which I probably never gave up totally I probably still went back to them and had one shift a week there or maybe two shifts a week at some of them but still just tried other places out I didn't do any couch dancing honestly I may have done a handful in my whole later career... I pretty much was mostly a stage dancer and hand me money over the bar type of person but then a lot of the clubs turned into where the girls were allowed to go on the outside of the bar so you kind of had to go with the flow...
- discussion #83559Invalid dateI was a big fan of karate kid so naturally when Cobra Kai came along I was right on board I mean it's fun and it's not that great of a show but it's nice to see the full characters grown up and doing whatever they do sometimes I think it's a little cheeky a little silly but still fun to watch so now I'm waiting with bated breath waiting on whenever the new season starts It's funny we have a whiteboard and all the shows were interested in are on the board and next to most of them or as soon as we know about them we have the date of when they're expected to come out well I was really getting into stranger things and I just found out a day or two ago it's not expected to come out until 2025 that's 2 years from now people I'm glad I actually write it down I mean who would remember that in 2 years if your show finally decided to pick up another season and I'll also be 65 so I'll be a little more senile than I am now..
- discussion #83563Invalid dateYes I can do some questions and answer and as you can tell I'm always asking questions myself in my earlier career my roommate drove me to and from I believe almost all of my clubs so really I sort of didn't pay attention to the actual location of where they were now of course I remember most of their names at least I think I do LOL My theme song back in the day was Hot child in the City I mean I was 17 and running wild had my own gorgeous apartment by the trevose train station...with my two other roommates... Man that was fun..
- discussion #83577Invalid dateYes Andy stopped publishing it I believe right before the pandemic maybe a little bit before and yes you can't find anything on the internet it was just maybe kind of like a silly thing him and another friend or two went around to all the different bars and reviewed the clubs They talked to the girls somewhat allow their pictures to be taken and some not for obvious reasons... I know they used to have once a month they used to pick out a girl who had like the best boobs plus they would interview some girls and give her like a small write-up you know where she worked stuff like that The the best thing about the book is it did literally cover all the clubs all the addresses of where they were located Philadelphia bucks New Jersey and quite a few of the surrounding counties that's why I liked it because I could go and see what clubs I could go work at plus two you could see what kind of girls actually worked at the club by the pictures that were posted
- review #400973Invalid dateIn my experience some girls are looking for something more than cash that they can only get outside the bar and they know that that loser will do anything to get them or give them whatever it is thier looking for without having to give anything in return

- discussion #83573Invalid dateI'm not sure if I really had a threshold but for my time and travel my time there how much time I had on the stage like I said the place just opened up and we were lucky to have three or four people by midnight or 1:00 and honestly I only remember seeing two or three girls maybe there until the early morning hours so when I got there cuz I had to take a train there I was like clocked in at like 8:00 with nothing to do and then I think they closed at like 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning and I had to wait for 7:00 to take the train back home so I would have had to make pretty good amount of money in order to take up 4 hours of doing nothing while I was waiting around in the club And 4 hours of travel to and from the club and didn't look anything like it does now it would look just like a storefront didn't have any particular signs on it it just had it was just playing with I would say just white blinds hanging down over there windows and when I seen what it looks like now it's all bright and cheery and neon lights in the windows But I guess you got to start somewhere and they figured if some girls were willing to come in and just trying to make a few dollars but it probably wasn't too bad for anybody who kind of lived around there or didn't have to travel too far to get there but I'm thinking my threshold would have had to be $200 a night and of course I certainly wasn't making that So I think I went two or three times and then after the third time I was like well this really isn't working out LOL and honestly back in that time I didn't drive so I either took a bus or a train everywhere so that took up a lot of time so I had to kind of make sure the money I made was also making up for my hours of travel
- discussion #83567Invalid dateGive me a call what the name was before scruples I know I was there a few years back and it was still standing but there were a lot of changes happening all around that neighborhood it almost looked completely different from when I lived there in 2008... But that's progress...
- discussion #83568Invalid dateWhat was the intersection if you can recall?
- discussion #83567Invalid dateI should state that I worked there before it turned into scruples but I forgot the name of what it was then
- review #402434Invalid dateI believe it actually was Golden slipper and then turned into the black widow I think I worked there for a week or two when it was the Golden slipper and then somewhere along the line went back to it and it was called the black widow then so that would have been somewhere between 1994 and 2008 In my earlier career of dancing around 77 to 84 I worked at Straccios... The Plaza..... Cherrys... The Raven... Knights road tavern
- discussion #83568Invalid dateDo you remember any of his previous names
- discussion #83563Invalid dateI worked at the French Quarter for a while I believe it was one of the first bars I auditioned at in my later career not really sure why I picked it cuz I traveled pretty far to get to it But when I auditioned the manager asked me if I could stay for a while I wound up staying 8 hours and I met the owner and he told me I could come back whenever I want and stay for however long I want I didn't have to call for a scheduler or anything I really loved that place... Plus once a week not too far away I worked at a bar called the Dragon Inn and I actually got paid to work there so just showing up for a couple hours I made 50 bucks not including tips... And it wasn't too busy during the lunch hour which is I think the only time they had girls but it was a nice little place it was easy to work..
- discussion #76160Invalid dateNever got to work in this nut House I heard it was terrible even back in my early career in '77/78.. I do like the purple building
- review #401083Invalid dateWorked here in the very beginning of my later career and somewhere around the middle of my later career don't ask me why I think I actually got two approvals to work there and one rejection so I guess during my career sometimes if I knew the bar changed owners or managers or change the name sometimes I went back but inevitably it was one of those places that was out of the way for me
- review #402078Invalid dateWork here for a couple of nights in my later career just to way out of the way for me however I did like it there
- review #402088Invalid dateWorked here when it was dangerous curves and then turned into club risque was a regular when it was dangerous curves for quite a while but only a short period after it turned into club risque I was there the night curves had its big fire...
- review #402191Invalid dateWorked a few lunches here...for a few days in my later career... Wasn't really into it plus it was a little bit of distance to get there as you can tell or if you're following my story you'll see that I worked a lot of places only maybe for a few days or maybe a few weeks trying to find just those few bars that I really liked were easy to get to and made lots of cash..
- review #402205Invalid dateI definitely worked here in my early career and in my later career though I was a regular during my early career I guess cuz I lived nearby but I only stayed a couple of weeks in my later career as it was too far from where I was living at the time and there were other bars or clubs closer to me
- review #402434Invalid dateI think I worked there back in the day was it always called club risque?
- discussion #81177Invalid dateBriannas...torresdale ave
- discussion #83450Invalid dateYes beauty is subjective but clubs are allowed to hire whatever dancers they feel will bring in clientele... I have been turned down at a couple of clubs.. some weird excuses one was after I had work the day they actually let me come back and do a lunch and when I called for a schedule she said the manager that we cant have girls here who have fake boobies well I didn't have fake boobies and honestly all she had to do would have been to come over to me and give me a little squeeze LOL..
