The girls at my club will do this for "luck" sometimes and I frankly just don't get it.
Every dollar counts if you ask me, but I also don't believe in taking what's not mine, so I just move it to the corner of the stage and leave the luck for the next dancer when they do this. ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ

I wanted Summer Is Tomorrow (obviously), but I love a good long shot win! That horse is kind of an asshole though- kept trying to bite the pony next to him after the race was over... took a while to calm him down! I guess horses can be divas too ๐ค๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ๐

I'm fine. I'm disgusted with my life and myself, but I'm not unhappy about that.

So, I actually work at a club that keeps half of the dance fees. And I've repeated many times over the years that I don't begrudge them this fee at all. They provide a safe, inviting environment for me to conduct business in. There's a fully stocked bar, great food, music, and other eye candy around for ambience or even variety if desired. The staff are all friendly and are there for me if I need anything at all.
Also, they accept the payment up front for me and I don't have to worry about negotiating or competitive pricing within the club.
I just get to show up and do what I do best...entertain! And yes, it's been said time and time again- this entertainment isn't cheap (nor should it be). It's not a flea market, swap meet, yard sale, or anywhere else you might find a great deal. In fact, maybe you ought to be hitting up those kinds of places in the interest of saving money elsewhere so you can afford a club visit. ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
And, I think this goes without saying...absolutely ANY attempt to get me to do a dance in parking lot, store dressing room, etc would be considered beyond CREEPY! Frankly, I can't even believe I'm responding to this thread, but I wanted to give my perspective on the 50/50 club fees. ๐

Been meaning to weigh in on this one...
First of all, it's a shame that women have to worry about being "too old" for any profession, and yet here we are.
As a dancer who started at the very youngest legal end of the spectrum (I was newly 18 but looked like I could've been anywhere between that and 15) and picked it back up after a many-year break... currently 43, I can speak with authority on this one.
I wouldn't go back to any other age I've ever been no matter how much you paid me! I wouldn't trade my experience, character, nuance or even the look I have now for anything I ever had as a young girl.
I find that being comfortable in your own skin, giving zero fucks about what anyone else thinks, and being a generally kind/decent human with a strong work ethic and attention to customer service make longevity and a certain amount of success in this biz possible.
As with anything, play to your strengths and understand that no one is for everyone. If a gentleman prefers the young nubile type, I'm not gonna do it for him. I'm also not gonna appeal to the ones who are into the Kardashian aesthetic, or any number of other traits I don't have...
But, there are plenty of guys who think I'm just right and I sure do appreciate the hell out of them! โค๏ธ

Pretty crazy that anyone should be made to feel like she need to explain herself THIS much on this site.
Good on you for doing so PSD, but c'mon already RD, shouldn't the gals be ENCOURAGED to post here? Having to defend oneself this much could easily have the opposite effect. Just sayin'...๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ

The news of his passing has hit me kind of hard...because it's a glaring reminder of just how short, fragile, and unpredictable life can really be...
Juice reached out to me when I'd only just joined here 2 months prior. As I told him, I was honored! And that was because, I could tell right away that he was a great presence on this site. His liability and good nature was obvious even to a newbie like myself.
Anyway, we made plans to meet at my club in May of '20 and we all know what happened there. But before we knew our plans would be canceled, it was hard to tell who was more excited about the meet! And he was so incredibly sweet... he really had this desire to achieve trust and credibility with the members here, and was hoping our meet would be a little step toward that goal.
We then kept in touch periodically during the shut down and then I wrote to him when I returned to the boards and my club. There was no response...I asked about him on one of the threads as well, and it just seemed like one of those ebbs and flows that happens with a lot of us.
But, without knowing him at all really, it still nagged at me a bit because he had been so eager to come on up to the club.
It seems strange to be sad about the passing of someone I never met and only briefly corresponded with online, but I keep thinking that if he had this much impact here, how intense must that loss be for those who knew and loved him in real life...

Bacon props!!
There was a gross injustice done here because, despite the OPs attempts to insult the intelligence of everyone here by trying to convince us that he wasn't being disrespectful to the girl he claims is the ATF of a member he has zero respect for, his efforts were futile and we all agreed that what he did was in extremely poor taste.
However, I'm encouraged by the collective rally to Skittles' defense, hopeful that her business only increases from the exposure of this thread, and regretful that I'm not able to stop by to buy that girl a drink and drop a big tip on her just for being an awesome inspiration to all dancers.
Instead, I'll raise a toast to her at work today... Cheers Skittles! ๐ฅ

I just read the comments that Skittles has made in response to reviews of her club... she sounds awesome- has an attitude of gratitude and clearly has a service-driven heart. She appears to be the antithesis of the type of dancer so many complaints are made about here on this site.
She seems like a real sweetheart that truly enjoys her job and I, for one, would be happy to work alongside someone with such a happy and positive outlook. ๐๐๐

^Well said, Sir!
I was just thinking, "gee, I wonder why more dancers don't post here... by most of the logic on this site, I guess it's because they're too busy being possessions on a shelf (or in a garage, as the case may be) or being total basket cases/prisoners of their own miserable lives..." ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ๐คช๐

^I'm sorry, but WHY should she know you weren't tipping her $80?
Does anyone think that's an inconceivable amount for a tip??
I'm not saying I agree with her decision to take all of your money without asking because it wouldn't occur to me to do that. But also, it wouldn't occur to me that anyone would find that to be an insane amount to tip...$800? Sure. $8,000? Certainly. But $80? ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ I wouldn't "know" that's not what you meant to give.
As you say, you've learned from that experience, IMO that girl deserves a little more credit. There actually are inexplicably generous guys out there, and she could've easily thought she'd just met one.
