Since you're under 21, Oregon's slightly weird underage dancing rules will apply to you. In Oregon, nude dancing is permitted even in clubs that serve alcohol. But until they're 21 dancers aren't permitted to work the room looking for customers.
Oregon's liquor rules permit underage dancers to dance on stage but do not permit them to sit with customers in the room. The rules do allow underage dancers to sell laps, but the selling has to be done while dancing on stage. Some clubs have an "underage pen" where the underage dancers spend their time when not on stage. You can try to catch a customer's eye from the "pen." Other clubs make underage dancers go to the dressing room when not on stage or doing lap dances. A few alcohol clubs simply won't hire underage dancers. None of these rules apply in the juice clubs that don't serve alcohol.
I haven't spent much time in the downtown clubs, so I can't give you much help there. I've been in Club Rouge and know it's nice (not a dive). Ark Angel is a downtown juice bar that's rumored to be nice.
Use the TUSCL map feature to zoom in on the downtown Portland area and read the recent reviews of all the clubs you see. There are about 10 of them. Also, Stilleto25 (a dancer who hangs out here sometimes) has danced in Portland in the past and might be able to give you some info. You might also try asking over at stripperweb.com. The girls there have a somewhat different perspective than the guys here.

@gatorfan: Not that I disagree, but you can find strippers who are in their 50's in Portland too.

Also...
Dive or nicer club?
Are you under 21?
Make your money on stage or in laps?
Where in Portland do you want to work?
With over 50 clubs (not counting jack shacks) there's a variety to choose from.

When an adult bookstore opened up a new location near here a few years back the local morality squad turned out to protest and photograph people coming into the parking lot. The local TV stations and newspaper were all over the story. When a reporter asked the owner what he thought of the protests he said it was good advertising. He said that if there hadn't been any protesters he might have hired his own (fake) protesters to generate publicity.

@steve229: You're probably right about the trafficking angle, though it's probably also bullshit. Portland has gained a reputation in the media for being a hub for trafficking. It turns out, though, that there's no actual data to back that reputation up.

"Sheriff Whetsel said the bust was the result of an undercover operation between his agency, Homeland Security, ..."
Homeland Security is investigating strip clubs now?!? It's good to know that all the other national security threats have been dealt with. :-/

Yeah, getting subpoenaed as a witness for a murder investigation would suck too. I've sometimes wondered if something like this could happen at a club I frequent a bit east of there.

In Portland, 2AMers occur before midnight.
From http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2012/07/man_seriously_injured_in_shoot.html, "The shooting took place about 11:15 p.m."

In Portland, Jiggles used to advertise on the radio day and night. I haven't heard "The best wiggles are at Jiggles" in a while, though.
Stars used to run a TV ad with a cave man theme. I haven't seen it in a while either. You can see the Stars ad on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D01lfk9Oc4Q

@travelguy10 Better have your own attorney check things over before you father a child with the dancer. In many (most? all?) states a mother cannot sign away a child's right to support from a non-custodial parent.

@MattAT95 I agree with you that it's extremely unlikely that "children are 'almost always available,'" at least in the United States or Canada. The fact that "Almost all of the men agreed" just means that our media have done an excellent job of brainwashing the public to believe something that's not true.
My own city has gained a reputation as a hub for child prostitution and trafficking based almost entirely on fabricated data, misinterpretation of actual data, and a desire to sell newspapers (or TV advertising).

@mikeya02 Sales taxes are currently rounded to the nearest penny. For example, in my area sales tax is 8.6%. The tax on $2.99 is $0.25714. The cash register rounds that to the nearest penny ($0.26).
Without pennies, taxes are typically rounded to the nearest five cents. At least that's the way they do it in places that don't have pennies right now (e.g. Australia).

Both. And neither. There's no answer that applies to dancers (or women) in general.
Some women enjoy having their asses smacked. Some don't but are willing to allow it because they think you will enjoy it. Some do it because "everyone else does it."

@rrbill: Oh she's definitely a good actress. Her convincing (if I put my brain in neutral) act that she likes me is part of what keeps me coming back.
@thesamurai: Possible I guess, though she appears to be too smart not to have noticed that I'm not incredibly stupid. Or maybe I *am* being incredibly stupid and don't realize how (hence the question). Jaclkgill implies as much.
@hakanlube: It's not possible that the story is true. Any identical sextuplets born in the last 25 years would have been all over the news. The record for identical multiple births stands at five (seven documented cases since 1786). Bored and made up a silly story to entertain herself, or more likely to see how I would react, makes more sense. Incidentally, she *has* started hinting about money problems. I smile and sympathetically tell her she needs to do a better job of budgeting her income.
@LeeH: I understand the fun in telling tall tales that the teller thinks is true or that the teller thinks the listener might believe. What I don't understand is the fun in telling a tale so tall that no one could possibly believe it. On the other hand, at least one reader here appears to think it could possibly be true so ...
@Alucard: That was my thought but, as I said, I can't see how she could think that story would lead to $$$$. Perhaps she's not as calculating as I've given her credit for. Or maybe that story has led to $$$$ from other customers.
@Shadowcat: That's another good point. Maybe she's just trying to impress with a story that she thinks is plausible.
@jaclkgill: Eh? I don't understand what you're implying. I'm not "bagging" her unless, by that, you mean that I'm getting high mileage (for Portland) VIPs from her. And I don't understand what bagging her has to do with any supposed concern that she might come after me.

I've been trying out different clubs in PDX trying to answer the same question. I've found that most clubs have a stated policy of "customers may not touch the dancers." In many clubs, though, that policy is enforced only at the dancer's discretion. At several clubs I've been able to find a dancer who is willing to bend the rules. The trick, of course, is to figure out which girl won't mind your hands on her before you take her back for a dance. I find that a dancer's willingness to bend the rules when I'm tipping her at the rail is good indicator of willingness in the back. The bottom line is that you should probably be looking for dancers who will allow two way contact instead of clubs that allow it.
You can definitely get one way contact dances at either of the Stars in town. You just have to be willing to pay $40/song or $100/3 songs. The closest I've come to a true air dance in Portland is Club 205. See my reviews of those clubs for details.
If you're looking for a place where two way contact is the rule instead of the exception, check out Vegas VIP Room in Beaverton. It's a juice bar, and really different from anyplace else I've been in Portland (review coming). But the rule there seems to be that contact is allowed as long as you don't touch the pussy, tits or ass. I suspect some girls break the rules there too.

How much is "a ton?" Also, one night may or may not be representative. I don't go to that club often enough to have a feel for how much the average girl there makes. I do know one of the night girls there well enough to guess that she averages in the low hundreds of dollars. Another girl I know well who used to dance there told me she didn't make enough to live on, but she was a day girl who hated having customers touch her (and it showed).

Good to know. She used to be pretty fun even in one song dances back in the Stars Beaverton days. OTOH, it looks like you registered just to badmouth one dancer...

First, I was in Sin Rock on Tuesday this week and most of the girls were much better looking than my previous couple of trips. But I was probably thinking about Cabaret II and/or DV8 when I wrote that.
I haven't been there in a while, but Club 205 used to have the hottest girls in the area. But it's a different vibe; more of a a stage show club.
Good luck.

Isn't Whispers in the same parking lot? Sounds like the girls from Whispers are paying a fee to recruit customers from inside Playpen.

The building is owned by the guy who owns Xpose in Beaverton. He's just remodeled the upstairs into a pub. When Boom Boom's lease is up (soon, supposedly) he's planning to take over the downstairs and remodel it as a new strip club. Girls are already fleeing Boom Boom for richer ground. Expect this place to get worse before it gets better.
