Electronman, the ROI is similar to a night out at the casino. You are going to spend hundreds or maybe even over a thousand dollars, but you will at least be entertained for a number of hours. You may end up with some good memories and stories, but other than that, you will likely have little to show for it. One thing I have noticed over my strip clubbing career is the average visit has been more often disappointing than exhilarating. There are a couple reasons off the top of my head. Then you will have a club where touching is part of the standard lap dance, but a dancer will say, "You have to pay an extra $10/song if you want to touch." It seems nowadays you have to be more on guard to getting scammed than ever before. But back to your main question, pretty much anything I could have thrown my money at would have had a better return on investment, but none of those things provide the thrill of the hunt you get when you walk into a new club with topless or nude women.

Who wants to work on New Years Eve? Dancers probably want to be out with their friends and love interests. I went to a strip club once around 22h on a New Years Eve, and it was dead, despite the promises of a free champagne toast at midnight.

Disposable income is tight with most folks due to inflation. I can see strip clubbers taking a break, especially if they felt they have been ROBed or are not getting any value out of their SC experiences. I think inflation will get worse before it is under control. Amazon is shutting down warehouses and cancelling the building of many new warehouses due to decreased consumer demand. I think people are just being more frugal whether they shop online or in physical stores. I think people are traveling less. Flights have gotten very expensive and hotels are ridiculous compared to pre-COVID. I go to a certain event in Missouri every year. In 2022, the hotel was 150/night. For next year, the same hotel wants 220/night, and that is booking four months ahead. Even if you drive, it is expensive. Gasoline is over $4.50/gallon where I live. There is an insane amount of high quality content you can stream from home for less than the cost of a movie ticket. I used to eat at full service restaurants alot, think Texas Roadhouse and Red Lobster. To save money, I do more fast casual restaurants like Qdoba, Panera Bread, Au Bon Pain, and Boston Market, so I can cut out the tipping.

The sex shops at Hustler's and Deja Vu's are not exactly what I was thinking of when I made the original post because they sell porno, sex toys, condoms, lube, and lots of other stuff in addition to dancer wear. Those are more like Lions Den or Adam & Eve type of stores. Back in the Golden Age when New Orleans had 16+ strip clubs in just the French Quarter alone, there were several small stores around the Vieux Carre that were like the Stripper Supply Co. This was back when there was a huge dancer population in the city. There might be 150-350 dancers collectively in these clubs on any given night. The only shop left that deals in stripper wear is QT Pie Boutique on Dauphine Street.
