Reasons for Vacationing

Okay, strip clubs aside, and staying within the country, if you were to get away (your choice, not your wife, kids, etc.) what ranks highest on your list of reasons to go somewhere? (Please add something if I’m missing it) - beach - sight seeing (monuments / city explore / museum) - entertainment (theatre / sports / concerts) - amusement parks - gambling / casino - food - partying / clubbing (not strip club) - golfing - hunting / fishing For example - someone could say “I love to go to NYC,” but jackslash could be there for museums, twentyfive could be there for the Caridi B concert, flagooner could be there for a Jets game and Juice could be there for NY Style Pizza.

Coming up with a cover story is too much of a pain. Can't we just say that we heard there were $100 BBBJs and cuddling in Dallas?

The hunting/fishing thing is huge. But also hiking. And I like historical sites.

Sight seeing I guess... I mean if I want to gamble I go to Vegas, if I want to the beach I go to the outer banks.

Funny you should mention NYC, intending to go there late December, but i have no interest in CardiB but have tickets to three Broadway shows, some great restaurants in Brooklyn, at least one evening at Peter Lugers, along with revisiting some of the museums, The Natural History for sure, and visit a lot of family. But usually my vacations are beach destinations I love to stay by the beach have visited beaches in 12 different states including Cali, but lately my preferred destinations are out of the United States.

February 1, 2019: Late Lunch with a lot of wine at Cafe Rosettis; AA, first class to SLC; Ski Brighton Saturday morning; off to vegas; gamble, super bowl; up Monday morning; check snow report; best snow under 1100 miles is found; we drive there; ski until we cannot walk; red eye Saturday night back home; feel like shit Sunday; back to work Monday.

If I am traveling for myself, by myself. Then I'm traveling for the mongering aspect of that city. Sure, I like the beaches and restaurants in south Florida. But I"m going there because the clubs have extras in them. If I am traveling with the wife, then I"m going because of all of those other reasons. And she is choosing the destination.

Just getting away from everything and enjoying nature. Hawai'i is my favorite because of Molocha'i and Lana'i. On the big island you can do a beach and a snow-capped peak on the same day. The downside is that its so fucking far. I tried the beach/mountain combo in the Caribbean, but its too damned crowded with too many hare-brained Europeans.

Hiking and Hunting/fishing, esp if I can bring the dogs. I would try to get a cabin for a week. I like historical sites, too. I don't get a way enough for my main reason is "cabin fever" and need to get out / get away.

"jackslash could be there for museums" Museum's are boring. "twentyfive could be there for the Caridi B concert" Cardi b's music sucks but ok. "flagooner could be there for a Jets game" Rather see the giants. "Juice could be there for NY Style Pizza." You can get NY style pizza outside of NY.

Both the Jets and Giants play in NJ and there happen to be some excellent clubs in the area.

Historical sites, food, & entertainment are what I enjoy, but because I have kids, the reality is closer to amusement parks and beaches. Maybe someday I will have more control over this, but it is what it is for the time being.

People need vacations because what they call 'work' is actually costing them a great deal. I have never taken a vacation and never intend to. When I do something it always fulfills a whole host of needs. [view link] SJG

I like going to small towns on the coast and just chill and smoke weed on the beach. I like being anonymous and not having to worry about seeing anyone I know or putting up with any bitches

I'm headed to LA and San Diego in a couple of months for vacation. From your list above Beach, entertainment, and food.......but more than anything a good book and peace and quiet are what I look for. I've seen most of the United States or at least been to almost all of the 50 states. Some of my best vacations have been to Hawaii but you need two weeks off to go there because of the travel there and back.

Site seeing, food, nice drives, and entertainment that a single guy traveling solo can enjoy.

Beaches and sightseeing would be the only categories on that list that appeal to me for vacation purposes. In reality, I came to a conclusion two years ago that I’m only interested in vacationing for one thing: pussy.

Outside a city: Nature and scenery. Preferably hiking. Inside a city: The local food is the most important! And then also cultural activities. I also like the gimmick attractions like an acquarium or a botanical garden. Or I’ll sit somewhere and people watch.

I've been burned out w/ SCing over the last year or so, and especially as of late I find myself having to talk myself into going to a club, vs talking myself out of not going as in the past. In the past I liked to check out SCs in other areas and that was a fun vacation for me; but now I'm feeling like I wanna do some non-SC vacations where I can enjoy the location. I haven't been to too many places and never been west of Texas - having immigrated to Miami from Cuba as a small-boy and watching a lot of movies and TV-shows based out of California, to me California was quintessential America (per the movies and TV-shows I watched). Thinking of doing a California vacation next year and maybe take a bus-tour from San Francisco to LA via the Pacific Coast Highway so I can take-in the sites.
