$40 is a bad deal when the dances are mild compared to other options in the DMV. Penthouse is a great club for drinking and stage watching, but not for LDs. While I'm not sure about the exact pricing structure, it wouldn't surprise me if there are both song-based and time-based options.

EI isn't a stage-focused club. They get on stage only to attract attention when they have made their rounds and been rejected. Dancers come and go throughout the day/night, and there is no consistency among days/times. Sometimes a random Tuesday afternoon may be packed with girls, and a Saturday night may have only a few girls. The next week, it could be the opposite. Even the balance/imbalance of dancer/customer ratio ebbs and flows during a day. You sometimes need to spend a few hours to catch something interesting. Between the inconsistency of dancer arrivals, and girls being busy with other guys / in back / etc, you can't always just walk in and get an immediate hit. It takes just one girl to make the trip worthwhile, but the stars don't always align.

I once heard a stripper, while on stage, ask a wheelchair-bound customer, "what are you sitting on?". The girl I was dating at the time, who insisted we go to the club to see Jessie Jane, told me "we're not tipping that bitch".

Park on the street. Columbia isn't crime-free, but it's also not a war zone. Customers are generally fine. I haven't seen any drama at the club. Mix of customer demographics. Club is on a residential street in a small city.

The fact that Showcase is far busier than BodyShop proves that customers nor dancers care how much of a cut is taken by the owner. Showcase offers a better experience for both customers and dancers. Ebony Inn takes a $35-$85 house fee from dancers (depending on day/entry time), while allowing dancers to keep 100% of the $10 dance fees. Each club has a different operating model, each having its pros and cons....just as mainstream businesses within an industry have different operating models. One could argue that EI is more greedy than Showcase, due to charging up to $20 cover, $10 to park, $6 for beer / $14 for liquor, and house fees for dancers. So, singling out Showcase's owner for trying to make a living is a bit unfair.

If they think you don't have much money, you can weed out the ones who will try to attempt to quickly empty your wallet, in exchange for minimal effort. What you are left with are the girls who will work for what they can squeeze from you.

BodyShop is the least ethnic/least focused on a sole demographic of dancer, of the PG County clubs. Ebony Inn is nearly exclusively AA (customers and dancers) Showcase is heavily skewed toward Latina dancers. Customer base is a bit more diverse, though. BodyShop has a diverse group of dancers, although one commonality among them is skewing younger (babystrippers run rampant here). Customer base is also diverse.
