NY, NJ, CT Jointly Ban Crowds Over 50, Dining Out, GymsThe total number of people infected is estimated to be six times the number of confirmed cases. So if the Johns Hopkins site shows 170,000 confirmed cases, the true number of contagious cases is probably over one million. We probably have over 100K right now in the US.

Social distancing is necessary if we're ever going to get through this. US also needs a radical increase in testing.

Public schools are closing for at least a couple of weeks. Rec center where I swim is closing tomorrow. Costco was a zoo today and a few shoppers were wearing masks. Our governor has started drive-up testing.

How Serious is the Coronavirus?Sure, Dugan, Johns Hopkins -- the finest medical in the US -- is publishing updates because they're melodramatic snowflakes. The WHO declared a global pandemic because they're also melodramatic snowflakes. The experts are saying that Covid is on the order of 10 times more deadly than the flu. The best estimate is that cases are doubling every 6 days. Infection stats grow exponentially if you know what that means. If nothing is done something like half the US population will get the virus. The mortality rate overall is one-percent-ish which means that over a million people could die. Yes, the mortality rate is greater depending on your age.
Post your reference showing that the mortality rate is expected to be 0.2%.

This sucks I have the Corna................Too bad you're a typical pussy, @GammaNu, for putting me on ignore and continuing to spew horseshit behind the ignore button. @Skibum's not a pussy and he has a good sense of humor. My image of the typical conservative would be someone like you or @Mark94 -- pretentious and humorless fools who live in conspiracy theories and beat-off to Fox News all day long.
...and you have a lot of gall mentioning David Duke given the fact that you're known for calling other members "porch monkeys" and telling one of the dancers that she's well on her way to being a "welfare queen" and making references to blackface.

Dead Cat Bounce / Don't try to Catch a Falling KnifeI've posted about raising cash and reducing stock exposure just based on the CAPE and price/earnings that are out-of-whack historically. Measure like the CAPE doesn't tell you exactly when to buy or sell, but it has a pretty good track record of predicting stock returns if the window is out to, say, 10 years or more. If it wasn't Coronavirus it would have something else. Even with the current sell-off stocks aren't a bargain -- at least not yet. The CAPE is a simple measure invented by Nobel Prize winner Robert Shiller and he writes about the psychology market bubbles.
A lot of this is luck but I'm guessing we're nowhere near a bottom in stocks.
Alan Blinder was out this morning with a common-sense WSJ article about the need for a massive increase of testing kits:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-best-stimulus-is-coronavirus-testing-kits-11583877266
He writes about the best stimulus would be the knowledge about the extent of the epidemic. He also thinks the probability of a recession is more like 90% now and we already be in a recession.
TUSCL is always a clueless place for scientific literacy. Covid-19 is not the flu and the rest of you should be listening to MDs and epidemiologists who know what they're talking about. Epidemics like this grow exponentially and we're in the early stages. If we don't have policies that encourage social-distancing, something like half the population will get the virus. And if I had to guess, that is the end game: something like half the population gets the virus and epidemic subsides since half the population has developed an immunity.

Going AloneI was introduced to strip clubs by a friend when I was in my late 30s. I always went alone after that.
The posts above are spot-on -- but I think it's a very bad idea for a young person to be going to clubs. You should be saving your money and vanilla-dating girls your own age.

Will they steal the nomination from Bernie again?Skibum's right about Biden being a plagiarizer and many white voters, like myself, don't think he's a great candidate.
But black voters turned this around and created a miracle for Biden. I thought this was a great article about why southern Democrats saved Biden:
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/05/opinion/joe-biden-southern-democrats.html
The article has a paywall, but this single sentence summarizes the gist of the article:
"Not long ago, these Americans lived under violent, anti-democratic governments. Now, many there say they see in President Trump and his supporters the same hostility and zeal for authoritarianism that marked life under Jim Crow."
Black voters fear Donald Trump and the reasons are obvious.

Xenophobia against Asians in TJ?I'd say there's a 99% chance that this is a troll meant to mock Asian stereotypes. Note:
(1) The @OP is not a student at San Diego State hopping the border to Tijuana; this is a genius-level guy going to Stanford. It's hard enough to get into Stanford as a US Citizen, but it's twice as hard to get in as an international student. And yet the writing quality is piss-poor.
(2) High school students don't take linear algebra or discrete math. Most likely the OP Googled something that would sound impressive.
(3) As @Icey points at, the OP goes out his way to say that he's afraid to be assertive which is another Asian stereotype.
(4) THe clincher is probably the OP's avatar which is repulsive, misogynistic, picture of some submissive Asian girl taking a dildo-shaped candy with multiple men in attendance. This is the kind vile stupidy that's @Meathead's signature and why I wouldn't be surprised if he's behind it.

After all that hand-wringing (1) super-delegates play no role whatsoever and (2) Bloomberg wasted half a billion dollars trying to buy the election.

Xenophobia against Asians in TJ?To the @OP, I don't have enough street-smarts to know whether "chino" is derogatory. I *do* know that you've come to the wrong place to discuss racial stereotypes. This is what passes for humor on a place like TUSCL:
https://tuscl.net/discussion.php?id=69474
It's a troll of a South Asian character @aPoopDeep who smells like shit, works in a convenience store, and gropes all the dancers.
I've never been to TJ -- but I would keep your mouth shut in a foreign country and wouldn't expect anything of value from the crew on this topic.

https://www.reddit.com/r/sugarlifestyleforum/comments/fensrh/it_finally_happened/
That's quite a coincidence.
Mine are typically 30 yrs younger and I've yet to get any comments from staff. I did have a stripper date about five years ago where we were in a booth and she was putting her legs up on my lap. Nice restarant and I'm pretty sure the waiter was annoyed.
@Meathead: You can almost smell the lingering stench of your low self-esteem every time you make a post.

I know you mean well, but your attempt to troll me lacks the sarcastic bite of a true virtuoso (like @Dougster) and you're too intelligent for the kind of belligerent stupidity of someone like @Meathead.
I left CA for a job offer and I wasn't fleeing because CA has problems. California is the engine for our entire economy and has the best schools in the world.
I suppose it's true that slightly-left-of-center voters like myself are inherently evil. After all, we've given healthcare to 20M poor Americans and another 50M Americans can now buy health insurance with pre-existing conditions (instead of going bankrupt). I could go on, but you get the idea.
