In the 1981 book, The eyes of Darkness, written by Dean Koontz, there appears this: "It was around then that a Chinese scientist named Lee Chen, defected to the United States, carrying a diskette of China's most importan and dangerous new biological weapon in a decade. They call the stuff "Wuhan-400" because it was developed in their RDNA labs outside the city of Wuhan, and it was the 400th viable strain of man-made microorganism created at that research center". Yeah, its "novel". For the simnpletons who would claim this is false, its on page 333.

It may very well be novel but real people are getting real sick where it came from needs to be addressed after it’s under control

Like we've wiped out the flu, which has killed over 20,000 apparently meaningless people?

I don’t understand your point Ski. You’re “citing” a fictional novel and extrapolating to make a real world point? What am I missing ? BTW, you do realize that all of the “chicken littles” hope you and the naysayers are right and the virus flames out, don’t you?

Money talks, Bullshit walks. I’m dubious about what politicians and the news says - they may have ulterior motives, but when they cancel/postpone things like the NBA, NHL and NCAAs, with all the lost money that entails, that tells me it’s for real and not just hype.

I agree with studme53 on this. Politicians, the media, marketers, and more have an interest in us being focused on this virus, in a constant state of fear, and distracted from other goings on. But when all the professional and college sporting events are cancelled, and major international theme parks close, you have to believe that these decisons to give up billions of dollars in expected and forecast revenues are made objectively and with knowledge of the adverse risks of not doing so.

Obviously, as with everything else, we'll continue to learn more, and our views will change on things. But, regarding novel coronavirus, the genome has already been mapped, and actual scientists who study these things (who I realize have significantly less knowledge than a typical tuscl poster) have said there's little chance it's engineered. The current reactions were entirely predictable to those who have been listening to actual experts, and have been awake through this. This who are asleep, or pretending to sleep, continue to hilariously claim it's all nothing

Just read an article that pointed out, so far, the government has done nothing to help with the virus. Think about it. Now, they are going to pass a multi billion dollar bill that has very little to do with the virus.

Actually Jimmy I think that some people, mostly progressives are intentionally whipping up hysteria for politcal purposes. My point with the book is that human beings have an innate fear of anything and everything different and as such is they were publicizing the fact that this virus is very similar to other viruses; that the chinese have been fucking around with viruses as a weapon in that area for 40 years; and that 80% of those infected have mild cases, is intentional and to create panic. Most people here aren't aware of this becauyse you'd haveto read foreign news to find out that while we panic, the Chinese are blaming the United States military for causding this. Of course when you say "wuhan virus" the left accuses you of racism becauase you needn't stigmatize those responsible. Of course West Nile viruse andGerman measles aren't racist. Giventhe epicenter of cases here in America (liberal areas) I am beginning, ah fuck it. off to the casino....................

skibutt, Go pick up a copy of the first printing of this novel. The virus was called "Gorki-6" (I don't remember the exact number.) When the soviet union fell, the publisher changed it to wuhan for future printings. I lucky co-incidence. Nothing more.

Ski I get the pussy millenial shit and the liberal demofag shit but honestly the more you post on this topic the more you collapse in credibility. This is something substantive and real, that must be unnerving.

Relax people. The President said recently that this is just a hoax, a leftist conspiracy, that this nothing more than the common flu. I believe him. He knows all about viruses.

@UprightCitizen Same, I don't understand why Skibum has chosen this topic to become so stubborn about. Talk about impeachment bullshit or SJWs and I'm completely with him. But this is an issue that we simply can't afford to bury our heads in the sand about. Individual actions are going to be critical to containing this virus.

I think it’s absolutely incredible how the Italians have shut down their entire linguini-eating country just to make Trump look stupid. Fucking Italians!

Read this article for a fuller and more serious summary of the claims that a novel by Dean Koontz predictEd (or was the inspiration for) the Covid19 pandemic. [view link]
