Not a club ad. I have no relationship with any club management or owners. I think I was fair discussing both positives and negative. In fact I probably will not return.

I think you nailed it on the head with your experiences.
Daytime: not much talent and not worthwhile.
Nighttime: Best talent only available to regulars. Much of the best talent don't appear on stage at all or make a token appearance, then disappear into VIP for the night.
Not a good club for irregular visitors.

The bottle charge for the expensive room is $350. There is also a $150 room and a $250 room. The $500 is the charge that the girl expects to get. The club lays out the following price structure: $300/hour for the $150 room, $400/hour for the $250 room, and $500/hour for the $350 room. The price for the girl is a cash price. There is a 25% surcharge if paid in credit card. These prices are minimums and non-negotiable. The customer may however tip above the base fee. They have been offering 50% off the room more frequently as business has been very slow. The room fee is actually for purchase of alcohol, and not technically a room fee. You can buy extra bottles during the 50% specials and save them in your locker for another time. They have by far the largest selection of good looking girls in Houston but most of them are used to being paid a lot and are not enthusiastic about getting a few dances, which are $20 a piece. If you want to play, it can hypothetically happen in the expensive room but expect to pay far above $500. Sometimes, if I don't want to spend a lot, it's enough to sit around the stage and ogle top-notch talent. It's still worth it because they have great food and liquor selection, and the ambience is luxurious. If I find a gorgeous girl who is willing to do a few lap dances, that's a bonus. If we hit it off during the dances, I can be persuaded to spend more. Most girls will ask for VIP, but can be put off with a gentle no. Dances are pretty much the same as any Houston club, but usually a little bit tamer. Still there is two-way full contact, and you can touch anywhere except under their g-strings. Also, some but not all girls will do stick-shifting, Russian, and some mouthing over the pants. I have gotten digits from almost all of the girls. Sometimes that's just to arrange meeting in the club, but many will meet outside too. Maybe I am more successful than you were because I am well known here and known as a generous client. The downside is that I usually am not alone for long when I enter the club, so it makes it harder to talk to new talent.

Dances at the St. James have always been $20 outside of VIP.

The quality at Baby Dolls post-Covid is actually higher than it was pre-Covid. Of the girls I talked to, more than half did not live in Dallas and had traveled to Dallas just to work. The reason is that clubs are still closed in most parts of the country. Some of the big talent centers such as Vegas, New York, and LA are all closed.

The talent at Baby Dolls is at a much higher level than the St. James. There are many more dancers probably about 3 times more dancers at Baby Dolls. The average quality is also much higher at Baby Dolls. The average age at Baby Dolls is also much lower. Many of the dancers at the St. James for a long time and are past their primes. The St. James has had problem hiring talent in the last few years. One of the problems is that dancers must get an expensive license that stays on their record and could prevent them from getting other jobs. Also, the top manager was really mean. The best talent in Houston now is at the Men's Club but the quantity of dancers is a lot lower and it is much more expensive.
I would also say that the mileage at Baby Dolls is much higher in the daytime than the night time.

In Houston, $400 for dances over 4 hours is considered very cheap in high level clubs. At $20 a dance, it adds up. I'm sure we did a lot more than 20 dances. I'm no shill. Look at my long history of reviews. I think I gave an even-handed review, as I don't consider Colorado as one of the better clubs in Houston.

Things in Texas are bad but probably better than elsewhere. Initially, in March, clubs were closed for about 3 months. Then they were open for about a month until COVID cases in Texas sky-rocketed. Much of the blame was placed on opening of bars and clubs. Then were closed again at the end of June except for nude clubs. Indeed, several of the topless clubs had closed a few days earlier because of the shutdown because COVID cases were so frequent in the club. After a month, the clubs with restaurants re-opened claiming they were restaurants and not bars. In that case, Texas allows them to be at 50% capacity. Businesses that claim they are bars are still closed. Since the re-opening most clubs have had very slow business in Houston. Additionally, they have been taking mask wearing and social distancing a lot more seriously. After the first shut-down basically no-one was wearing masks. After the second shut-down, you cannot get in the club without a mask. Also, all employees, including managers, waitresses, bartenders, and dancers wear masks at all times. Most dancers will remove their masks when giving a dance, if the dance is given in a semi-private area. Customers are expected to wear masks at all times except when drinking of eating. That means usually you can remove your mask when you sitting at a table. Why are they suddenly taking this mask thing so seriously? One, a large percentage of the employees got sick the first time, including most of the managers, and a lot of time did not return. So they know it's a serious business with serious down-time if they get sick. Two, health inspections have gotten a lot more frequent. There are surprise spot inspections every day, and the club can get fined or even closed down for violations. I have been at clubs several times when managers started running around telling everyone to put their masks on. That is why customers and dancers must always have their masks ready, usually pulled down but still hooked around the ears. The number of dancers at any time is way down, about 25% of the number before COVID. The percentage reduction in customers is even more. There are many dancers free every night. The reduction in customers is due to 3 things (1) Most of the Houston customers were convention goers. Since COVID, all conventions have been cancelled.(2) Houston has been economically hard hit because COVID has been particularly harsh on the oil industry, which is Houston's main source of wealth. (3) A lot of customers are too scared to come out since going to a strip club is probably one of the riskiest activities in the time of COVID. Still, if you are looking for a strip club experience, where the lap dances are as good as before COVID, things are good. There won't be nearly as many girls to choose from, and the atmosphere will be a lot quieter, and there is a kind of overhanging dread among everybody there. But you can choose to partake. I am still going, but more cautious than before. I always wear my mask, and I stay away from crowds. I limit my physical contact with dancers (i.e. no more kissing of lips or any body part). I use hand sanitizer after dances. I had myself tested multiple times and am negative.

Yes, I was in the Vivid Club in Houston when it happened. At the time, about 10 years ago, it was called the Penthouse club. About a dozen officers came in all of a sudden around 10 pm. They were dressed all in black from head to toll looking like commandos or SWAT. They were also carrying rifles and shotguns, not handguns. They looked like they were ready for a war. Also, their entire head was covered in hoods and masks. Some even wore googles and sunglasses. They were protecting their anonymity because they were all undercover cops. When they entered, the club started flashing the lights and playing strange music. I guess to give VIP customers a heads-up. The VIP room was immediately rushed by about 3 cops.
Lights were turned on full blast. All the music was stopped. They made all the customers sit at their tables. All the dancerswere rounded up and made to sit in the middle of the stage. Waitresses were rounded up and made to stand beside the main bar. No one was allowed to talk. There were armed cops at all entrances and several around the main stage and the main bar. Then they pulled out a checklist for certain dancers. They also inspected the dancer locker room for illegal substances. They had come in on a previous day and noted several infractions by different dancers and were looking for those dancers. In some cases, they had names and in some cases just general descriptions. They spent a long time for a girl with a butterfly tattoo on her ass but they did not find her. The infractions they had noted were underage drinking, drug use, and lewd dances. Lewd dances could be something as innocuous as the dancer taking both feet off the ground during a dance. In those days, there was a three foot distance rule, which nobody adhered to, so technically every dance was a lewd dance. They could also arrest a dancer for inadequate covering of nipples or too much ass exposure. In those days, Houston laws were to keep nipples totally covered (with latex or pasties), and to wear full bottoms (no thongs or strings). After about 20 minutes, they let some patrons go to the bathroom. The dancer I was sitting with left her cigarettes at my table, and they let me take her a cigarette. After about an hour they left with some dancers and managers in custody. They did not examine any customers or ask any questions directed to customers. No customers were ticketed.
Luckily, my dancer, who I had been regularly seeing, was not affected. She immediately took me to VIP. Nobody else was in there, we went to the most private booth. She tore off all her clothes, and jumped my bones. It was the most passionate session I ever had with her.

I went early in the evening on a Saturday. It was not crowded at all, maybe 30 customers. This club never gets busy until after midnight anyways. I stayed until 10 but it was open until 6. Not as many girls as usual, about a dozen mostly in the 6 to 7 range. Girls of all ethnicity and body types. Everybody, both employees, dancers, and customers were wearing masks, since it is the law. However, dances are as high contact as normal, and some girls will remove masks during the dance. They had a nice feature about 8 where you could get two dances for the price of one in the VIP room. That would be $30 for 2 dances plus a free T-shirt. Most every girl was able to snag somebody at that price and the VIP room got very crowded for a couple of songs. I stayed about 5 hours in total with the same girl. We had dinner together and the food was pretty good. During that time, we both did not wear masks unless somebody approached. I recommend this place to anybody needing a fix of naked girls and full contact lap dances.

Houston and Texas setting new record in positive tests and hospitalizations daily. Over 4000 hospitalizations on Tuesday alone. The governor says he will not reverse the re-opening except as a last resort. He has however allowed local governments to issue mask orders. He has also urged all Texans to wear masks and to stay home.
Multiple strip clubs in Houston are dealing with outbreaks including Chicas Locas, Centerfolds, and the Ritz. The Ritz has voluntarily decided to close down for a few days.

Interrupt them and let them know you want more dancing or other activities. A lot of girls use this strategy so they don't have to do anything for the money. They hope maybe you'll buy a second hour, and that you will be so distracted that you forget about what you really wanted. Don't let them manipulate you.

There is a single VIP room that has glass walls, but very high chairs. The entry fee is buying a bottle that costs about $100. This allows you to stay 1 hour. Of course what happens in there depends on the relationship between you and the dancer. Girls want to paid a premium because managers will expect a big tip. So expect to be asked for at least $300. on top of the bottle fee. You might think the glass walls are an impediment but there is plenty of privacy. I'm sorry I said anything because my policy is not to say anything that would put any club or individual under scrutiny. In this case, I would say nothing happened and what could have happened is just a fantasy. As I understand, this club has been raided multiple times.

During the first few days of clubs being open, I was at Chicas Locas in Houston with two petite blonde Cuban girls who claimed to be sisters. The session become progressively more passionate and I was french kissing both of them with both my tongue down their throats, and their tongues down mine. Other customers either gave me a big thumbs up or looked at us with abject horror. I had my fingers in their pussies and they were giving vigorous handjobs and blowjobs through the pants at the same time. This was all outside in the public bench area. Managers ignored us. A waitress implored us to go to VIP and they were game. I didn't want to spend that kind of money. I'm sure I could have done anything with them if I wanted to.

In Houston, a couple of weeks ago, about 3% of those tested were positive. Today it is over 9%. Houston ICU bed usage has not hit 93% and 120% at a couple of local hospitals. Additionally, most of the COV19 hospital entries are non-ICU so the overall problem is huge. The average age of those admitted is getting lower into the 30 year old range. A mandatory mask usage has been issued for all businesses two hours ago.

The view from the other side of the room
If you look at my posts, you know that I have pretty active hitting multiple clubs. And I have multiple visits at each club that I haven't posted. Maybe it's burnout but I think I'm going to restrict my activities for a little bit. That's because the Houston population has suddenly taken a massive spike in cases and hospitalizations. ICU's at many local hospitals went from normal levels to almost completely full in a few days. Some have begun doubling the sizes of their ICU's. So the risk is getting higher since reopening. I also met one dancer who told me you had contracted it and was cured. She is a very young and very healthy girl who prior to getting it was running several miles a day. Afterwards, she told me lung damage prevented her from even running two blocks without being winded. The worst thing was at one club, my waitress looked like she was coming down with it as I was there. She started sweating profusely and looking paler and paler. Managers finally stepped in and told her to go home. On top of that, the amount of talent at the clubs is very low, only about 1/4 of the dancers that used to be there. All in all I think it would be wise to not go for a bit.

Went to St James and Chicas Locas on following two days. St. James is back to normal except they have a plexiglass shield for the door girl and customers must use hand sanitizer before entering. Masks were offered to customers but were optional. Inside, the only noticeable difference was disposable paper menus and no gathering around the bars. Otherwise, dances were the same as before. There were only about a third of the normal number of dancers. At Chicas Locas, there were no differences except for a shield for the door girl. Also, only about a third to one half of the number of dancers than before. The number of customers was also about a third to one half of what was normal before at both clubs.

Went to the Ritz last night. Pretty much everything is the same as before the lockdown except that (1) Nobody is permitted to sit or stand near the bar except for waitresses waiting for their orders.
(2) Customers cannot order directly from the bar and must order from a table.
(3) Every other table is off limits so there is at least one table separating you from another party.
(4) Bartenders and waitresses are wearing masks.
(5) A limited menus is available and menus are disposable paper menus.
(6) Food comes with paper napkins and disposable utensils.
Otherwise no dancers are wearing protective equipment, customers are not required to wear protective equipment, customers can tip dancers on stage,, and full contact lap dances are being provided. So if you want the full pre-Covid19 dance experience, head on over to the Ritz in South Houston.

The Palazio is the Austin club mentioned above. The rules make it sound awful. 25% capacity which in this case means maximum 75 people. Temperatures taken at the door. Masks worn by all employees. Optional masks for customers. Six foot barrier around stages. Six foot distances between tables. Six foot distances between dancers and customers even during private dances. Plastic silverware. Actually cabana use will be impossible unless it is just for yourself and your party. You cannot maintain a 6 foot distance between customers and employees in their cabanas. Count me out.

St James is not currently open, but I heard it is planning to open with 25% capacity on Friday. I heard that they will discourage lap dances, but I don't know what that exactly means. This is from some employees that I keep in contact with but they are not managers so they don't know anything for sure.

The Ritz in south Houston will definitely open on Friday at 25% capacity as reported on their twitter feed. The place is pretty big and even on weekend evenings, the club is not 25% full . They usually don't even open the front room at all. If they open it up and spread the tables out, the club will have no problem with six foot table spacing. All staff will wear masks and customers are encouraged to do so as well. There definitely will be dances, but I don't know if lap dances will be permitted. If they open up the VIP sections, especially the upper floor one, it will be hard to believe that some people won't at least try. I'm betting there is a lot of pent up demand and there will be plenty of customers.
