This is kind of random, but what happened to Papi Chulo? Did he retire from clubbing? I always enjoyed his reviews, especially over the summer. Anyone heard from him?
Papi's primary MO was black clubs, mainly in the Miami area. Black clubs across the country have either closed down or are a shell of what they used to be.
I recently saw that the Body Club, one of Papi's go-to clubs, is reported as closed. That was one of the last truly "get your freak on" spots. IMHO, the Mint Lounge is the last.
Unless he wants to get into another demographic, there's nothing to return to.
Understood, i think there are a few left in Atlanta and maybe Dallas but that's about it. I'm hoping the few that are left will keep their doors open but if not then the club scene is likely over for most people including myself.

However, the scene is completely different.
Most clubs now have a “make it rain” model.
There are still a few clubs in Atlanta I consider worth going to and a onesie club here and there.
I use to be able to go to places like Detroit, Memphis or East St Louis and hit a ton of worthwhile black clubs. However, unlike 5-10 years ago, it’s not worth traveling to just that one club in the area worth going to.
We need to get Papi Chulo back. It ain’t the same without him. Not for nothing I always was amazed that after visiting some beat up dive, he could turn in a 30 paragraph dissertation out of it, with a table of contents for fucks sake. It’s impressive and funny as hell to me.
As you age things change and or end. If we all looked back at our lists of things we loved to do, but don't any longer might be longer than we realize. At the end of anything the highs no longer make it worth it because they are not the same. Papi was going through this for years. I plan on watching football in a strip club Sunday and skiing Monday, I think I am about 3 years away from stopping both for good.
He was interesting. Thought there was a competition between strippers and customers over who one ups the other. Hated black people but liked black hookers. Was against any attachments to women...
My only complaint - he liked to use the term “custie”. I tried to tell him the only people who used that term were the Feminazis over on Stripperweb who hated men.
@icey that's interesting but it tracks because he was/is cuban? I say this as a black person, i don't feel bad either way his contributions were valuable and will be missed.
@skibum i agree but i also enjoy reading about 70 and 80 year olds on the website. If i can afford to, i will keep partying with strippers forever.

The funny thing is that, when I first joined this site in my late 30s, I was bitching about the "get off my lawn" old timers, lol. I was doing some wild shit with strippers back then, often late at night with a belly full of Jacks, and dutifully sharing the stories here. 😁
Now, pushing my mid 50s and saddled with increased home obligations, I feel like I'm morphing into an old timer myself. Soon I'll be posting about which club has the best dayshift crews with the best 2 for 1 drink specials. 😆
Hahaha i was 17 when i randomly found this website, almost 20 years later im glad i did. I learned so much from guys like you, even weirdos like desert scrub( haha).
I never thought i would live long enough to enjoy daytime visits to the club, but here we are. I cant think of a better time to visit than the day time.
My profile says I joined September 2015, so a little over 9 years now. My life is such a blur, I honestly don't remember what it was like when I joined. I probably found this place by looking for another site to get intel on a CF who had vanished. I don't think I was a lurker for very long. Credit to Muddy on another thread, this is by far the best site of its kind.
