Google Trends

I check Google Trends sometimes to see how interest in a subject changes over time. To see interest levels on strip clubs I searched the phrase "strip clubs near me". Searches dropped in 2020, most likely due to clubs being closed during the lockdowns. It went up in 2021 when they reopened but then from late 2021 started dropping. High inflation leading to cuts in discretionary spending, possibly. They continued a slow drift down after inflation dropped, though. Would that be the economy entering a recession or just a general loss of interest in visiting strip clubs as a hobby? Have your trips been dropping? Have the long time dancers made any comments about dropping business?

Probably a little bit of both. Young people are spending money on only fans and such instead of going out.

Unless they are chaining trips to the VIP, strippers will always complain it is slow.

I only go during day shift. I can say my favorite has admitted she is dancing more and taking less vacations. I've generally noticed there are a few more dancers and a few less customers than "normal" when I go. But I've also seen what it looks like when the girls are thirsty, and I still only get sniffs of it end of the month when rent is due. I don't see a lot of girls leaving at 3 because it's so dead.

I suspect retired guys with a lot of their wealth in the stock market are doing just fine; the stock market is up. But it's not great for wage earners like the blue collar lunch guys. You see it on this board too; the older retired (or nearly) guys seem way more excited about this economy than the guys in the middle of their careers.

Strip clubs aren't the same as they were 10 or even 5 years ago. The big change I've noticed is Cubans. Stripping seems to be an immigrant gig now. Clubs have a different vibe as a result, attract different people. Or fewer people.

I still check out clubs pretty regularly on the weekends and yeah, I’ve definitely noticed a shift. Even on Friday and Saturday nights the crowd doesn’t feel as lively as it used to. A lot fewer mongers sitting at the rail which used to be prime territory. Now it just feels like people are hanging out, drinking, maybe watching the stage, but not actually spending much.

Dancers have definitely gotten more pushy too, way more aggressive with the upsells or trying to pull you into dances fast. It’s a pretty noticeable difference compared to visits from even just two years ago. Whether it’s the economy, people having less disposable income, or just a shift in interest, something’s definitely changed.

If I'm being honest, I find my own observations unreliable.

While I'm a frequent strip clubber, I'm not consistent in my visits. I'll go on different days of the week, different parts of the month, and different times of day. And I live in a highly seasonal area. Add to that that our clubs tend to vary over time, with the most popular/busiest club rotating around. All that combined makes it hard to make observations I can trust.

It's really hard to account for seasons. Last year I saw a major slowdown that came with the season, but it didn't really seem to recover nearly as much as Winter came and left and we're now back in the slowest of slow seasons. At the same time, I hit up a few clubs on the 31st and they were way busier than usual. It seemed mostly excess demand too, there was a bunch of dudes all over with standing room only at 3pm on a Thursday. It wasn't a gaggle of girls hogging all the tables. A week or two before, I went on a Saturday night around 10-11pm or so, and it was dead. Very few dancers or customers; just a bunch of waitresses and floor guys standing around looking bored. I've seen unexpected variations on those scenarios on other days in recent memory too.

I can't tell if its changed much overall but I will say it seems more volatile and less predictable on a day to day basis. I don't know if it's inflation/economic change or other dynamics in the market like increased availability of alternate goods or decreased interest in sex services in general that cause it.

Things change. Horse racing used to have the most paid attendance numbers of any sport 75 years ago, now nobody goes. The peak of strip clubbing was 1995-2016. About 1/4 of the clubs and gone. The backbone of the industry was white guys over 30. They are dying off and being replaced by young men who live a solitary life in front of a computer screen and avoid face to face. They also don't have 40 years of savings to fall back on.

I agree with skibum about as often as he agrees with me, but he’s actually a good guy IRL, and like myself knows how to have fun.

Strip clubs are obsolete. The quality of the dancers' bodies have dropped. The quality of their performances has dropped. The quality of the music has dropped. The quality of fellow clientele has dropped. The social changes and technological advances, in particular since 2020, are insurmountable. It will be a slow death, but I think strip clubs will only return after they have been gone long enough to become a novelty.

I think a lot of times clubs can be depressing. Many have too many girls working and not enough customers. Everyone competing for less money stresses them out.

Then theres the conflict between clubs and dancers. Clubs making girls sell sections and bottles. High cover charges. That takes money away from girls. If youre paying $80 to get in and have a 2 drink minimum at $30 a pop. Thats a lot of money as soon as you walk in.

Then you get clubs hiring so many girls just to milk the house fees. A lot aren't that great looking.

Clubs aren't obsolete. Theyre just changing. The trend seems to be towards urban clubs. Dancing doesn't have a stigma anymore. And prostitution seems normalized. Much more so than even like 5 years ago.

Whats dying out are traditional gentlemens clubs. I think social media killed that business model. Its too discreet for guys who live online. I like those clubs more though. Theyre chill and relaxing.

Music ...... Cubatón country rock oldies have no place in clubs. I also cant stand Sexxy Red

I think strip clubs appeal more to Baby Boomers and Gen X. They came of age at a time when going to a club to see topless or nude women was a mind blowing experience. It might have been the first time they saw a woman naked outside of a seedy magazine. As time passed, the world has become oversexualized to the point where gentlemen's clubs are not the thrill they once were. As Boomers die off, so does strip club clientele. Alan Markowitz sold Flight Club to Rick's because he saw the writing on the wall: strip clubs were a cash cow for decades, but times are a-changing.

The average American is exposed to porn around age eleven now. When Boomers were growing up, something like kissing in a movie was considered risque. I wouldn't say Gen Y or Gen Z hates strip clubs or naked women; they are just not as willing to spend as much money at strip clubs as the previous generations. Sex is easy to get, so why pay for a tease? I used to think women got more freaky as they aged because of experience and figuring out their body. Unfortunately, women from my generation are kind of bland in bed compared to the college aged Gen Z women I have been banging. Some of these young women are doing extremely kinky shit at eighteen and nineteen, riding dick like pornstars. I guess it is not surprising because many grew up in the age of the Internet and social media where sex was everywhere.

Theres no cubans or cuban clubs out in the dc, Maryland area. Theres Cubans who travel out here from Miami- they want $500+ an hour… and i dont know how they will perform.

I have been quoted $400+ for OTC rates from girls out here. But the escorts are hotter, some even have reviews. So i have been avoiding the clubs and only go once every couple months or so.

The other issue is the big time investment needed for clubs. Driving time, time spent in the club, time spent trying to arrange an otc…

Young guys go to strip clubs to party.
Much cheaper bottler
Much better eye candy
Dancers are really easy to date or hang out with outside the club.

Its very different now. Like it was a different world just 10 years ago.

Strip clubs dont have cheaper bottles… maybe it varies heavily by club?

Dancers are easy to date if your willing to tolerate their job and lifestyle… but its odd you say theyre really easy to date here but in other posts claim theyre extremely tough to date, even tougher than any civvies,

I also disagree on the much better eye candy

I see the hottest chicas at the mall or at nice restaurants around the city… sometimes grocery stores… the clubs have never had the hottest chicks in town or anything like that

^^^ Sinclair could not be more wrong about Boomers. My strip clubbing between the ages of 17 and 30 was about 50 times. As far as seeing naked girls? Saw my first at age 10; lost my virginity at 14 and did a 3 some by 15. Saw more naked women live before age 18 than most kids nowadays will see by 40.I represent a lot of young guys and am always stunned when they tell me at age 30 they have banged 5 -10 women. I banged more as a Freshman in college. Lastly, when i started strip clubbing they weren't brothels. It was a night out drinking and carousing with friends for fairly cheap money. We liked bars with naked women, but were not looking for sex or dates. real women, not dancers, served those purposes.

You get girls offering lap dances at parties and stripping at parties. Its been like that since i was in high school. Nudity isn't that big of a deal.

The problem is lack of discretionary income and price gouging. Thats basically why nightlife overall is dead
