Clothing recommendation (not specifically for clubs, just for life in general)

Avatar for ClubFan81077

Okay, so I absolutely HATE wearing belts. They never seem to fit just right, and even if they do, the buckle usually annoys the hell out of me when sitting down. Suspenders don't really work well for me either.

I'm usually most comfortable at restaurants, department stores, or whatever when I can wear athletic shorts, because they usually have decent enough elastic to mostly stay up without needing a belt or anything else to keep them in place. But sometimes, I'd like to be a wee bit dressier than my athletic shorts allow, or maybe colder weather simply dictates that long pants are needed...

So, what I'd LOVE to find are some casual shorts and casual pants that look decent, but instead of just a slightly flexible waist, they actually have enough elastic to stay up on their own, without a belt or suspenders! And material that can flex with you when you sit down, so they don't put unwanted pressure on the abdomen. Anything I've ever found along these lines will NOT stay up on my body type without a belt, because they just don't have strong enough elastic at the waist! Blue jeans would be great, IF I could find a pair with really strong elastic, which I have not been able to find...

Has anyone found anything like this that they can recommend???

Thanks everyone! :)

Adidas cargo pants. Get a size up for a nice baggy fit. These look really nice in person. I like the cut and material.

Don't wear cargo pants. Seriously. That's for fat guys and dads who like to embarrass their kids.

If your belt buckle bothers you, you need to lose weight. Shrink your gut and build your glutes and you won't even need a belt. Until then, you can use a fabric belt with strap style buckle for more comfort, but you'll look like a bitch.

I’ve been in clubs where the door guy won’t let you in unless you are wearing belted pants.

I wear a suit and tie every day, and always nice shoes and belts...for work. Irl its tees and shorts in the summer and sweats, T and hoodie in the winter. I won no jeans, 2 pairs of dockers and one nice shirt, awaiting its 15th thanksgiving pic in a row.

@gammanu - don't forget white New Balance sneakers and socks pulled almost to the knee.

Hey, I’m a New Balance guy and proud of it. For several reasons. I have big feet and they offer wide widths than fit better than Nike. And they were last hold out of athletic shoes manufactured in the US.

and I’ve noticed white shoes are making a comeback

@motorhead - So am I. They're a man institution here, the shoe equivalent of Dunkin. I'm poking fun of myself too. Nike shoes are so narrow it hurts.

Plus I hate clothes/shoe shopping, I know what I'm getting and when it's time for a new pair I just punch it into the website and it's ordered within 5 minutes.

Best wide widths are from Sketchers, imo

I go out of my way to avoid Nike

There are a lot of options for comfortable pants and shorts. Synthetic and synthetic/cotton blends are prevalent and look and feel good.

Lululemon, Callaway Golf, Tailor Vintage are some of my preferred brands. For jeans that are soft enough to wear in a strip club, Ezekiel 305’s, Union Lounge, some Lucky Brand and Mavi are all good. I can’t help you with the belt thing. Buy pants that fit?

Cargos are in style. As long as they're baggy. So are new balances.

@Hank, no offense but what kind of man wears Lululemon? All I know about them is a few years back there was some controversy about the pants being so thin that women's cunts were showing through.

For wider feet there is no better footwear than Asics.

They were a gift. Quality and comfort is top notch and they don’t have obtrusive labels. I’d have never bought them for myself, but they’re perfect for the office where our dress code has become more casual since COVID. My eyes were opened.

@Elsombra Thanks for the recommendation. Although if it's got a baggy fit, it's probably not quite what I'm looking for... I'd actually like to find something more like conventional slacks, that just happen to have really strong elastic at the waist. But not sure anyone makes such a thing... :)

@gammanu95 I don't care whether anyone likes the belt I'm wearing, the shirt I'm wearing, the pants I'm wearing, the shoes I'm wearing, etc. If someone doesn't like what I'm wearing, hey, no problem! Just don't expect me to give a shit... :)

If I'm watching someone ELSE being ridiculed for what they're wearing, or their weight, or anything else, now THAT really bothers me. In those cases, I'd give anything for the people doing that to leave the other person alone, and direct their ridicule at me instead. I find it absolutely heartbreaking to watch other people being made fun of, but I'm completely oblivious to having it done to me.

@motorhead interesting...I wouldn't have guessed that anyone would be turned away from a club JUST due to the lack of a belt!

Haggar, Wrangler, Under Armour (and probably many more) all make pants with elastic waste bands. Just buy a bunch off of amazon and return the ones you don't like. Also, if they run too baggy, just have a tailor slim them down; they aren't just for stylin suits.

@blahblahblahs I thought about doing something just like that, but if I ordered 30 items, odds are that I'd be returning all 30... :( Using a tailor could be an option, though, if the elastic waist is really good, and the only problem is just the way they fit otherwise. Thanks!

One brand I forgot mention in my first post but was reminded when I pulled them on today is 14th and Union. I wear them to the office but the pair I have on today would also be good club pants. They have button closures on the back pockets (I like to keep VIP cash separately) and are pretty light. Anyway, they also have a drawstring sewn inside the waist. I don’t use it, but you could cinch it up if not wearing a belt.

An odd thread for me to comment on as I have no interest in “strip club clothing”. I dress for function and as far as belts go, I mostly use belts designed for travel. I have several of varying brands but this is the one I mostly wear.:

pacsafe.com

It has no metal so no need to strip down at airports and while I rarely use the money belt aspect it is nice to have. Germaine to this post it is a cinch belt so it always fits perfectly. The “buckle” is a small smooth plastic piece that cinches down and has never failed. It can be opened with a quick flick of the finger. I’m sure it won’t irritate your overhanging belly fat.

For pants take a look at Kuhl brand. They have several styles and colors. They are light weight, smooth to the touch, thin and amazingly durable. Good enough appearance to pass for business casual.

@Hank Moody Thanks! I’m actually going to be checking out all of your brand recommendations in a couple of days, when I’ll have a bit more uninterrupted time to devote to product research. The drawstring sounds like an interesting option, so thanks again!

Take a look at Haband pants. They have every day use pants with a full elastic waist. The company is located in New Jersey.

Ever notice the trend that business casual has taken over corporate dress. Even at the highest level. Who wears suits anymore? Maybe lawyers? Wall Street investment bankers? Even news people often are ditching ties for open collared shirt and jackets.

What? What is the proper way to wear a suit? Most men i see wearing suits, are wearing them properly… what is your background to make such a comment? Youre assuming the proper way to wear a suit is the pimp style, when that is actually the fringe way of wearing one
