One school board member called for the offending books to be burned. “I think we should throw those books in a fire,” he said. “I guess we live in a world now that our public schools would rather have kids read about gay pornography than Christ.”
Why the fuck are they teaching any kids about Christ in public fucking school? Can we try maybe like math & reading? Cause we certainly haven't aced that in America yet.

I agree with a parent's right to control what their OWN kids see as far a fictional works go. There should be a list of books kids aren't allowed to check out, if the parent has drawn a swastika on the kid's library card. But if you don't want your kids to hear the truth in US history class, pony up, send them to a private school.

That list doesn't have anything to do with the article. That list is record of past instances that books were banned or attempted to be banned.
What the article doesn't tell you is that some of the books parents want removed are sexually explicit books made available to elementary and middle school students. Other books that concern parents are so-called "anti-racist" books and gender ideology books.

They should because it's a major part of history and sociology and still a huge influence on modern society. All the major religions should be studied but not preached. Personally I was never taught anything about religion in public school.

Banning “To Kill a Mockingbird” in the past by various school districts always puzzled me. They banned the book because of the “N” word while ignoring the overarching message of prejudice and equal rights
