I was introduced to anime by a roommate who was obsessed with the medium and spent his free time translating Japanese pornographic video games into English. Like anything else that I get interested in for the first time, I pretty much binged on it until I was sick and tired of the stuff. Now I barely watch anime except for the odd episode or movie now and then.
I am sort of into anime, but not hardcore. I got into it in high school, as I was in the social circle where all the weirdos defaulted to the anime club.
In general, my tastes in anime skew 90s and older. Before the "moe" trend took over anime.
^ Confession time: the only Miyazaki film I actually like is "Princess Mononoke." In fact, I think it may have been the first anime movie I watched in all its entirety.
I mentioned this in a different thread, but nicespice gives off yandere vibes while NinaBambina is very tsundere. What do you guys think?
@Liwet - some do, but I wouldn’t. Strictly speaking anime basically just means animation from Japan. I would define Avatar as American with a strong aesthetic influence from anime i.e. The Boondocks.
Yandere: (me) (chiefly Japanese fiction) A fictional character who fits the archetype of being genuinely romantic, loving, kind, merciful, sparing, sweet and gentle, but is at the same time brutal, psychotic or deranged in behavior. The psychotic tendency can be both sudden and ever-present. Often used for both comedic and dramatic displays of character.
Tsundere: (Nina) (chiefly Japanese media) A fictional character who fits the archetype of having cold and even hostile personality towards another person before gradually showing a warm and caring side over time.
Except, isn't jealousy one of Yandere's vices? You hung around here acting nice as ever to get people to like you, and now want to play the Big Bad Wolf and call yourself an anime character who is known for being violent and psychotic? Will you be the same Big Bad Wolf, to me in particular, when and if you come to the Meetup? That would be... fun for me.
And I myself am not an anime character; my name is Nina. Get to know me! ;)
