Well, looks like I'm gonna be taking a break for a while

Went into the office this morning and was met by my boss, his boss, and the HR manager. Myself and 2 other individuals were told that things have been slow lately and we had been chosen to participate in a temporary cost cutting measure. They laid the three of us off for a couple of months, but (as they said) "Don't worry, its only a temporary layoff, we will call you back in in a couple of months". So, looks like my funds are going to be a little tight for a bit.

Temporary? What kind of place do you work at? Seems like a reason to hit the club to drown your sorrows.

I was told only for a couple of months, was given a recall date so they do plan on bringing me back. I am waiting for a call from the corporate office, was told the decision on who was laid off came down from them. Find it funny that the top three guys in our office were the ones laid off, only thing I can figure out is that we also had the highest salaries. All I know is that its gonna be a mess when (if) I come back!

Wish I had the extra cash to hit the clubs, money has been tight lately anyways, had some unforeseen expenses come up over the last few months, so now its gonna be REALLY tight!

All I can say is thanks goodness for internet porn, and if anyone has a good story PM me, I will live vicariously through the rest of you for a while.

I'm sorry that you were laid off. I experienced a number of corporate downsizings. The people who were let go were not necessarily the poorest performers. They were people who were not well-connected and had not sucked up to the big bosses.

Sorry, man. Well, you have two months to write a bestselling book on strip club strategies.

Sorry to hear that and best of luck. My advice is look for another job. your employer has no obligation whatsoever to hire you back no matter what they say or how many times they say it.

If you feel the need to find a great waste of time (probably the place I hang out most of the time when not able to club) try Kingdom of Loathing http://kingdomofloathing.com

Its a an online multiplayer roleplaying game which is a a running parody of other games and cultural icons, mostly word based and highly puntastic. Hilarious and addictive

I'm sure others can share places to loose time on the internet. There are plenty of diversions until you can get back in the swing...

I'm sorry about the job. I agree with everyone else. I would look for another gig. If you don't find one, if they call you back, then bonus. But hopefully you find a job where they value your work and not just look at salary to determine if you're with keeping.

Sorry about the bad news.

Hopefully something will come along better. It always shows up when you least expect it.

In the meantime while looking, maybe you can get some personal stuff accomplished that you never had time for while you were working!

Many of us have been there - a side-effect of the often boom-and-bust capitalist system.

This is something that happens to millions of people thus you can't get down on the dumps b/c it can be a downward spiral - hopefully you can get some unemployment pay and perhaps some severance from the company to sorta tie you over.

You gotta get in a an aggressive positive mindset - start exercising and keeping busy and start looking for options for work w/ the mindset you will find as good if not better job and in the end it may be a blessing in disguise.

At least the economy is doing pretty-well right now and perhaps you can find something to tie you over at least until the right-job comes along - you just can't be afraid to try something new even if it's not the perfect job.

And yeah - when I was laid off in the late 2000s they laid off about 50% of the group I worked for - when they started hiring again for the group they back-filled it w/ a lot of college kids that cost a lot less.

And if you got an at least an 8" dick; you can do some porn work.

don't count on the call back. I've seen many examples of higher level people being let go a year or two before reaching vestment in their benefits... presumably so the company doesn't have to pay out benefits for years to come

Yeah, what mjx01 said. I saw the handwriting on the wall long before it was going to happen. I made the most money in the corporation for the hourly people, they wanted to cut costs. Sounds like what you have been dealt. I said fuck it, I'll decide when I leave, not them, and quit. I traveled extensively, met quite a few TUSCL people, now I'm totally retired and hanging in there. Good luck, impala. Like it's said, the economy is good, I hope you find something else, because I don't believe the corporate people.

Good luck with your job search. Hopefully they hire you back. I myself have job issues, only I know they are closing up at the end of October. I've looked into transferring, but haven't heard back yet since the interview a couple weeks ago.

Times, love MyFreeCam.com. Now, if they could only perfect true virtual reality I'd never leave the house. Been talking to a few people today, being told that customers are already complaining about who is dealing with them. May not be anything to go back to in a few months.

Damn that sucks Dude, Hope you find something. I wouldn't trust them to call you back, I know you said you have a recall letter. But I wonder about the logic behind that.

Question you should wonder about:
Yeah highest paid, test to see if they can do without you guys and not loose customers/clients? What does that do to unemployment wages? What about vacation/sick days? And OMFG that damn medical insurance gone for 3 months. Can they drop you and force you to the Health care exchange? Then the Retirement accounts? Do you get a tube of K&Y or Anal ease?

On another note. I saw an article where this one chick form England made 6 figures doing webcam shows. Started her own webcam site after working for one. Fake Lips Fake Tits not that good looking at least to me. Ok, I would still fuck her. But damn 6 figures???

FWIW, in the organization I am building, no one would ever have to deal with anything like this, EVER.

Very intriguing. How does one avoid getting let go of their place of employment with your organization?

Answering JimG,

Its because everyone will have assigned to them an Advocate. You check in with them monthly, or at any other time needed. You might think of them as something like a high school guidance councilor. Mostly they make sure that the organization is meeting all of your needs and that all is going well, especially in the areas of:

1. career
2. on going education
3. housing

Any problem whatsoever, just let your Advocate know and it will be solved pronto. We can send you somewhere for housing you can afford, with our people, or for new employment, or just add you to one of our crews, with 60 min notice.

Though it is only to be a minority who live on our premises or work in our own organizations, we can always take on more people temporarily.

What typically happens career wise is we are working with you to stay 30 steps ahead of the situation. We are helping you to get groomed for positions of greater responsibility. We never let our people be used, just putting in their time to get a paycheck, or waiting to be laid off. We cannot afford to waste the talents of our people that way. Senseless. So our people are always getting educated and gaining experience so that they can run one of our companies, or so that we can help them start one of their own. We will have huge talent bases of experts in multiple areas. No one ever needs to be completely alone when they try to do something. We will always be positioning our people for leadership roles, because that is how we come to dominate so many different industries.

We aren't like the middle-class family, we don't scapegoat people and write them off. We instead help them live up to their greatest potential. And the first thing we try to show people is how the Self-Reliance Ethic is just a reworking of the religious doctrine of Original Sin. We completely disavow it. Everyone wants to do great things. They should not ever be blocked from doing this, and they should never be made to believe that their is something innately wrong with them.

For the women, for those who want it this way, it will be. And a willingness to learn and accept responsibilities will be a factor in which women we want to have as life long members. But we don't push them or hold them to standards as high as we hold the men to. At least not initially. We give them time to see how much different our ways are from the ideas which underlie the middle-class family.

The young hotties we bring in will be kept busy, and they will be getting educated, and they'll be extremely well taken care of long term too.

We don't do what the middle-class family does, turn people into Homer Simpson. We don't have scapegoats, because these are our people, and so we need the benefit of their full talents and abilities. We aren't using scapegoats to legitimate ourselves at the expense of other people's lives.

And then with the companies we run, and with the influence we have in lots of technology industries, we can always get our people into demanding situations, and then back them up so that they do extremely well.

People can go it alone if they want, but in the vast majority of situations they will do far better if they let us lead them. We will make sure that their income is increased way beyond what they are paying us in membership dues. And my own salary will never be more than $1 per year. Mostly the membership dues pay for the club houses and a fleet of shuttle vans.

We don't follow the middle-class family in making people believe that their impulses and inclinations are wrong, and in preparing them to have jobs just to show that they are not lazy. We would never allow the abilities of any or our people to be wasted this way.

And remember, we aren't competing to impress women or keep up with the Joneses. Too busy with stripper grade hotties climbing on us and sucking and fucking us dry each day. Not uncommon for guys to be found working or studying just to hide from them for a while. Every guy has his pussy saturation limit.
