Do Strippers Set Daily Income Goals?

I consider strippers to be commissioned salespeople. It strikes me as odd how MANY of them seem to set a daily goal and then stop working when they hit it. For example, they might say, I NEED to make $200 today. Counting house and tip-out that will mean somewhere around $250. The moment they get to $250 in their hands they're out the door; even if there is a room full of men in the club dying to spend money on them.

Now the "good" sales people will stay and make hay when the sun shines. No daily limit for them. But it surprises me how many strippers just don't accept that attitude. Nothing wrong about exceeding your daily sales goal. These harder working strippers often seem to be the girls that the other strippers start stories about because they're making more money. Jealousy among strippers, imagine that. Novel concept, the girls that work harder make more money.

Then, predictably, the next day turns out to be a slow day and they only have $25 in their wallet and they complain and whine to customers about what a bad day their having. Don't they realize that a couple hours work the previous day would have solved this potential problem for the future?

Are they so short sighed and narrow focused to think about the needs of tomorrow, or do they hate their job so badly that they cannot stand to be there one minute past the time they've earned enough to make it though the current day?

Ummm...if strippers were long term strategic thinkers they wouldn't be strippers.

I have not seen this. I've heard them say they need 'to make x dollars tonight' for whatever reason, but never get up and leave after making it. Daily goals would be discouraging considering how unpredictable income is. Weekly goals maybe, but never a daily goal.

    @farmerart:

Probably true but there are exceptions. I know one stripper who was extremely good looking - probably a good solid 8 1/2 or 9 who put her way through college with $30,000 in the bank, an Infiniti G convetable with no loan and ZERO student loans to pay back. When she was at work, she worked - table to table, lap dance room to VIP room. A "bad" night for her was $600. Normal night was $1000. She got to the club early and was ready to work so she didn't have to pay any house and she NEVER left a club early while there were still men willing to spend money.

BTW, she graduated from University of Dayton this last summer and never set foot in a strip club again. Working for Proctor & Gamble in their accounting department. True story.

This seems to be a problem with lots of people in general. I work in a seasonal industry and it is amazing how many people make good money during busy times and are begging to have their pay check in the morning of pay day so they have money for lunch that day. I know a guy that between him and his wife they make probably $175, 000 a year, yet they live in a trailer park. Dancing may be one of those industries thst atracts people with less financial know how than most. I think that is a mindset problem that affects people from all walks of life.

I've known some that have a monetary goal and a few others that have a time goal. There have been a few times that I have loaned(given)them enough money to make their tip outs.

Next time you go to the strip club and they whine about having a bad day, you should break down this exact concept and MAYBE they'll work harder.

newsflash, @tennis... a lot of dancers hate their jobs, and can't wait to get out of the club. others need a fix badly and will split as soon as they have enough $$$.

Met a dancer last summer that was a temporary fav who was as serious about stripping being a job as any I've met. Sharp, fine looking, a student at the local university, and during the summer worked the day shift. She told me every day she worked her goal was $500. I don't believe she would have left money on the table by leaving a busy club early if there was more earning potential.

She was the most squared away, business minded stripper I've run into. And that's why she was only a temporary fav. No future for her and I to become closer.

Some do and some don't. My current ATF has a minimum goal, but she also tends to stick to a fixed schedule, so if she meets her goal early in the night, she has the potential to seriously bank. But when it's her time to go, it's time to go regardless of how much she made. OTOH, I have a different favorite at my favorite club, once she hits her income goal, she's gone. Naturally enough, she tends to be overly whiny about a lack of business when those days hit.

I don't think its a lack of knowledge so much as a lack of personal discipline. I know one stripper who has saved a quarter of a million and has a university degree. She does no extras and no OTC. She swears she was offered $7000 for a BJ last year. She told me,"I love sex, but with whom and when I want." What a bitch. Most of the dancers I know spend until its gone and then call me for more.

Carolynne hit the nail on the head....The ones that leave right on their goal....think of why they had that goal....could be to just get the next fix. We know this lifestyle does have it other habits.

    1) being a “workaholic” is much much more a man thing than a woman thing IMO. Women will often strive for “balance” in their lives b/w work; play; family; etc. Men’s #1 goal is very often work/achievement and everything else is 2nd. In fact, the differences b/w the way men and women view work is often cited as one of the possible reasons why men tend to make more on avg (at least it’s what some say).

    2) agree w/ carolynne. What woman enjoys having men they don’t know from a hole in the wall groping all over them and constantly making “indecent proposals” – not many women like or can easily tolerate this , especially day after day, IMO.

I've told the story before, but my ATF doesn't work any longer. That and my current fave has done quite well, also.

I think many of them have a "goal" though I don't think that means they leave just because they meet it.

Even if they did, I've seen that behavior among other salespeople.

I've seen strippers do that, leave when they have enough money to get their fix.

And, a lot of them do drugs to numb themselves because they don't like their jobs.

It must be nice to leave early. I often seem to be working an extra 2 sometimes 4 or more hours longer after a typical day and I get paid nothing extra. All I get out of it is my boss telling me I need to work smarter and faster and then I might get promoted.

Many clubs charge a girl that leaves early an extra fee. Many clubs think that a girl is leaving early to meet a john, and they try to discourage that, so the can show LE that they are trying.

Some girls hate their jobs, so a goal to work to is the only way that they can get though the day.
Others that enjoy what they are doing may have a number that they would like to make, but will not leave when the place is busy.

I think for different days they have different expectations. One of my faves just relaxes on Thursday, she doesn't do any hustling for lap dances, but on Friday she hustles hard for Lap Dances and VIP's.

The most memorable in my mind of these goal oriented girls was a young 'un me and my buddy met working afternoons many years ago at OG in Vegas.

Not much money to be had and her goal believe it or not was $100. 5 lap dances. House fee at that time was probably not too bad during the day. No DJ or house mom. Still she had to take a cab.

Doubt she returned to her boyfriend (guessing pimp) with much more than $80 net. Buddy tried to convince her he'd pay her $100+ to hang with us at the hotel pool. No go, her boyfriend expected her to return with her under 21 wristband on.

A high percentage of people are short-term thinkers, even more so when they are young. Think of all the younger people in school who won't cut back on partying even to improve their grades.

I knew one dancer who had the goal of $1,000 a night dancing. She was a total ROB.

University of Dayton should come repo her accounting degree. So she made a grand a night and is more than likely not taxed. But now she makes $39,000/year and gives up $10,000 in taxes or 25%. So she makes in a year what she used to make in 30 shifts. Let say she goes back to dancing once a week, she takes 4 weeks worth of vacation. 48k vs 30k. 1day a week vs 5 and you still make 60% more money.
