The price gouging, IMO isnt occurring in these grocery stores but on the contrary occurring in smaller mom and pop shops and restaurants.
Things aren’t adding up. Places like five guys, cheesecake factory, and i think even mcdonalds, have been constantly raising prices on their beef containing items and other items, since 2019 or 2020.
Yet you go to the grocery store, and the prices of things like milk, cheese, beef, have remained pretty much exactly the same.
So there is an element of dishonesty involved when places like five guys or mcdonalds claim they are raising prices due to rising material costs or inflation.
The only thing that has really gone up in price is gas prices. I think these restaurants are basically trying to push things as far as they can. They understand that fast food and restaurant dining is a matter of convenience, and luxury. And theyve found that even as they raise prices, people continue paying those higher prices.

Funontheside that isnt how the economy works…If a shop owner discovers that someones uncle, or government is giving them an extra $100 to shop, will they raise prices of their items by $100 as well?
The reason the 25k tax credit will raise house prices is simply because of the increased inflation it would entail and increased demand for housing it would create…
But things dont work in a linear fashion. Inflation happens when the currency supply increases. Its not as linear as “buyer receives an extra 1k so seller raises prices by 1k”
As far as the seller.. it isnt their business where you are getting the money from… and it makes no difference to the seller whether the money youre paying for the house is your personal funds, Or your uncle gave you some, or the government gave you some, .. etc.
even now if a seller has a house listed for 750k, and the buyer informs them theyre going to get a 25k tax credit, the seller would have to be an absolute buffoon if they then say “okay well the price is 775k now since youre getting a 25k tax credit”.
Or it would be like if tesla raises their prices in response to the electric vehicle tax credits. It would defeat the purpose of the tax credit if tesla raises their prices in response

Puddy, renting is profitable. Irrespective of interest rates and the other factors you mention. I dont follow why it wouldn’t be worth it. The only thing is the rent rates dont go up correspondingly with the house value. So in most cases its better to rent out 10 units worth 300k each, than a single unit worth 3 million.
