Also, looking at it from the perspective of what's easier, escorting is a lot easier for sure. If someone doesn't like what an escort looks like based off of the photos on their listing, they can just move on to the next listing.
But in porn, an agent is sending photos of the talent to studios trying to get them work. It is a very demanding industry and it's extremely competitive. For example, there are studios I know I will never be able to work with just because I am petite and they cater to certain fetishes.
Hopefully that makes sense and hopefully that answers your question from, at least my perspective and experience.

Escorting is so much more dangerous and scarier than doing porn. Especially for independent escorts working without an agency. At least with porn, real porn and not amateur porn, the individual knows what they're getting into. They're able to do their research on the other parties involved. This includes the producer, crew, and other talent(s) involved.
In porn, we are allowed to say if we're comfortable with condoms or not. It's not that it's a norm, it's just more people are willing to perform without. We have a "no list" where we say what we're not willing to do or who we're not willing to perform with.
The constant testing you speak of is only if the talent is active. With escorting and porn, we work as much as we want to work. The way the testing works, is there is a national database we're all in and we have to test for STDs within 14 days of a shoot and we have to have a rapid covid test done within 3 days of a shoot. That test is good for about a month, but it is advised to be tested at least every two weeks if the talent is traveling and actively shooting. So it's not constant testing unless you want it to be constant.
I don't know why people keep mentioning $800 as an average rate of pay for porn. That's not true. Maybe for amateur porn, but not for professional porn. People say there's no money in porn, but there is so long as you're willing to put the work in. But there are several variables at play as well. Especially living so far away from the three cities that professional porn is shot in, I, at least, struggle to find work. (But I am also not actively trying right now because I'm recovering from the virus). Professional porn scenes pay between 1,000 and 3,000. It depends on how far the person is willing to go and what they're willing to do as well. Men in porn make more money than women do because there's a higher demand for men as there's far less working talent.
Professional porn has safe words and we have agents to act as liaisons and find us work. We know who we're going to be working with as well. We can stop a scene if we're not comfortable. And you're not in a room alone with one or two other people.
Unlike with escorting, which is a much more dangerous situation you're putting yourself in because of the unknown factors involved. I'm only speaking from high-end escorting. Even with high end, guys are reluctant to submit to adequate and proper screening. I know I don't want to die and I'm sure the client doesn't either. But compliance for screening is for everyone's safety.
If it's privacy the sex worker is seeking, then escorting is the way to go. Neither fare well for long-term careers though. I knew that going into sex work, too. Unfortunately though, not everybody realizes that and I can't speak on behalf of everyone else - only myself.
My family knows I'm a sex worker, but they don't know that I got involved in porn. I know they would still love me all the same if they knew and wouldn't look down at me in any way. Unfortunately, I know it's not like that for everyone.
I will say though, shooting amateur porn is a much better route to take than professional porn. Amateur porn gives you the opportunity to basically "try it out" and see if it's for you. And then the scene will usually bury itself within the internet and very few people (friends, family, coworkers, etc) related to the talent will ever find it unless the talent wants them to be aware of it. This is of course, assuming the person is smart enough to use some kind of stage name that isn't in any way similar to their real name or any other names they've used online.

Legends in Detroit. It is supposed to be strictly stage money right now, but they are allowing us to do dances on a long bench in front of the VIP area. It's out in the open and we're not supposed to be sitting on customers or giving them a full, real dance those dances are optional and you keep all of your money from them because they're not official or whatever. You just show up, sit with customers and boots and party with them if you want to. But it's a high stage rain club and the tip out is fairly low right now if on time.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, I went back to Legends for a night last Saturday and now I am bed ridden with maybe covid. I just started a new day job and was sent home from it on Tuesday because I started coughing uncontrollably. I literally only started the job about 5 days prior to that so I might lose it now because I'm not welcome back until a doctor can clear me.
On Saturday, a porter grabbed my mask and shoved it into a bucket with a bunch of singles. I'm sure it was an accident, but there was no way I was going to be wearing that after it was buried in all of those singles. And the club was sold out of masks at the door.
There were numerous dancers who did not even have a mask on them and were never wearing one to begin with throughout the entire night.
What if I waitress friends sat in a booth and briefly caught up with me. She was also not wearing a mask. 2 days ago she told me she had lost her senses of taste and smell and that she was also extremely ill. Shortly after that, Legends posted something in their stories on Instagram saying that they were going to be closed from Tuesday up until tomorrow, Friday, "due to a small amount of employees testing positive for covid."
I took a covid test and it came back negative, but the doctor I had to tell a health appointment with today asked me to take a second one in case it was a false negative.
I feel like complete and total shit and I have numerous symptoms. However, I have not yet had a fever and I can still taste and smell.
But I might lose my new day job because of this bullshit and the whole porn thing is obviously on hold in the meantim, which just disappoints me.
Please wear your masks when you're in public.

PornHub offers a model program where girls can apply to upload their own content. I read that anybody in the videos also has to be approved by PornHub. It can't just be anybody.
It's basically like Only Fans except it's on PornHub. I was just looking at it the other day at a pretty sure it's called the model program or something like that. I plan to apply for it once I feel better.

If there is a "growing porn industry" in Michigan, it is definitely not an industry affiliated with professional porn. My agent and my PR person (who also resides in Metro Detroit) would both know about it and have told me about it. If there is such a thing in michigan, it is most likely low budget and extremely amateur.
The high quality porn everybody loves to watch (Brazzers, Naughty America, etc) is shot in one of the three metropolitan cities I spoke of earlier. Any porn that comes from Michigan is going to be sketchy as fuck and definitely shit quality.
