A letter from a disgruntled sex worker...

Let me be the first to say i am over COVID... As the world opens up the sex trade has not. Strip clubs nationwide are still closed. People don't always see it because their clubs are open but they are. The brothels in Nevada... still closed. The porn industry... closed with few exceptions... I dont want to downplay any other industry or industries that are closed but i am personally talking about what affects me in this post. Its been hard on everyone and i get that however i cant help but think there are some political figures that are taking this opportunity to focus on sex workers. I came into this industry and watched girls rake... literally rake money in on a good night... easy enough take off your bra and panties and dance around and just like that you made a rent payment or paid a bill. Later in life i found the true sex trade at the brothels in Nevada. You meet people...get naked... have sex and get paid a small fortune in the process and again all makes sense. Since COVID has hit and as ive posted in the past the brothels have been closed for now almost (few days short) for a year. So lets think for a moment what happens when drugs become illegal... (i know they already are)... people find ways to do it without getting caught. Just like people are finding ways to sell themselves without getting caught. Does this help stop the spread of COVID? nope doesnt... Heres the inconvient truth people... as long as men are horny there will be girls willing to dance... show off on cam or for that matter spread their legs and fuck them because its a source of income... banning this practice because its "not essiental" is as stupid as saying people wont eat if the food is bad... if you become hungry enough you will take the chance. I wouldnt routinley drink water from mexico but if im so thirsty i cant help it i would. There are alot of women trying to provide for their families and every second they are not legally allowed to is a hit on what this country was founded on.. free market enterprise. Please bring back the adult industry and dont let it get lost in the midst of COVID....

Have you thought about a temporary move to Florida, or Texas? They have governors that don't think COVID is a big deal. I visited South Florida in February, and many of the girls were from out of state for the same reasons you had brought up.

No place in the US has legal brothels besides Nevada...

Adapt, and thrive, or shrivel on the vine poledancer83. There are PLENTY of opportunities to make great money in adult entertainment if you expand your thinking just a little. One can complain, and wait until the ever shrinking Nevada brothel industry comes back. It was in trouble way before the pandemic. The legal sex industry in Tijuana hires Americans as well I believe.

Webcam shows on onlyfans, traditional strip club dancing, you can go the extra mile in a gentleman's club without crossing the line to get in trouble with law enforcement too. What were you hoping people would say to your predicament? Almost everyone is in a tough spot since March of 2020. We're just trying to figure out the new landscape of the world, just ike you. Best of luck, I really mean that. No sarcasm intended.

I don't have a good answer for you, other than legal sex work effects a few hundred people tops, grocery stores effect pretty much everyone.

i understand that and its not a comparison but what i am saying is that alot of other jobs have been brought back and it is insane to me that sex work isnt one of them

I see your point, but it is not like that everywhere currently. As others have suggested, Florida and Texas are mostly open. Michigan is open with limited hours (with the exception of one extras club open until 2am). My escort friends in Michigan and Chicago are doing fine. And as for porn, which I got into recently, talent that does not live in LA, Vegas, or Miami do have a more difficult time, but those that do live in those areas are still getting bookings (just not as many as pre-covid according to my agent). Covid did hurt the industry, but there will always be a supply and demand for sex work. Right now, while it sucks financially, it's just a waiting period for the pandemic to end.

If you are in the Shenanigans Facebook group or any of the other major ones, girls are frequently posting looking for suggestions of where to work. And others are responding. There are options out there.

I am sorry to hear covid continues to stop you from working and making money. I know politics plays a major role in keeping your business closed. It’s wrong, in my view. There are many things wrong with the criminalization of many forms of sex work. Wiffle waffle posted a very informative discussion on the detrimental aspects of criminalized sex work, and I agree.

However, at a certain point, you must decide to try and find either different work - or find a location that will support a line of work you can do. It won’t be easy. It might be very difficult and uncomfortable. But, given the current situation, it seems necessary. Look at the club reviews here to see the areas where clubs are now open. Check out other sex work sites, and see where escorts are pulling in some good money. Then decide if you can make a change to either line of work. I know you aren’t a young new stripper, so it might not be as easy as it once was.

I’m just an old pervert, so my advice is useless at best.

I understand PD is venting, and this is a useful forum for venting her frustrations.

It might be constructive to send this letter to a local government representative. Her county may be unique, and the more the representatives hear from the sex workers/brothel workers, the more chance they might act. Her initial post in this discussion might be a good start.

The American people sat back and wept as Government threw people out of jobs. First they came for the adult entertainment industry and I did not object .......... Thank you Martin Niemoller for predicting the future once again.

The SexWorkersOnly and StrippersOnly subReddits are great resources as well. You can browse them without having an account or participating in the threads.

The bad news is once the goverment stops giving financial support and rent assistance there is going to be a flood of new young sex workers because it is being normalized. Remember how tattoos were a taboo and now everyone has them, same thing.

It's not just government policy messing with your livelihood. I have voluntarily cut back on close contact. I won't go for a lap dance, won't visit an escort, and I won't even shake hands with old friends. But when I'm vaccinated, let's roll. I've got the dough and the inclination.

So hang on just a little longer.

I don’t want to make light of your situation - hopefully you are just using this forum to vent your frustration. But a hot girl is never going to starve.

Have you tried sugar dating like SA? I have met some off there and basically horny gals meet with on regular basis. One a married housewife was really good. An x cheerleader from there told me she got $8000 month from this one guy. She told me she wanted $3000 a month. I passed on that.

Interesting enough ended up mainly doing x stripper who needed $600 month meeting up once a week.

^ And yet massage therapy was considered essential in a lot of jurisdictions. Think of the similarities. Hour+ long sessions in a small enclosed room with limited air exchange, close proximity, direct skin contact, linens to be washed, surfaces to be disinfected, etc. If you can deem one to be able to be safely performed, why not the other? Icee, your comment reeks of puritanical judgement. Really surprised coming from a progressive like yourself.

I think covid has decentralized the porn industry. Pornhub is largely about girls with their own brands shooting with a partner and often girls they rent or guys who volunteer. I'm not saying professional porn is totally dead but this is a trend that was already happening.

PornHub offers a model program where girls can apply to upload their own content. I read that anybody in the videos also has to be approved by PornHub. It can't just be anybody.

It's basically like Only Fans except it's on PornHub. I was just looking at it the other day at a pretty sure it's called the model program or something like that. I plan to apply for it once I feel better.

But hopefully that explains to you why you see so much content by people who are not in the professional porn industry.
