Is the World Gonna End - Specifically USA?
Broad topic and this is the most bizarre period of my lifetime. What bothers me? As far as the stock market goes, with demand falling and horrible unemployment numbers, we should have equity prices falling off a cliff. The overall CAPE price-earnings is over 30x again and the market is way overvalued. What keeps the market up? Crowd psychology. It's just a crapshoot whether the market will continue this way. Investment strategy keeps me up at night. Another thing that worries me is whether there will be a peaceful transition of power in November. The Economist has Biden's chance of winning at 93% today: https://projects.economist.com/us-2020-forecast/president But will we have a fair election? Will absentee ballots be rejected? Broken ballot machines? Will Trump claim that illegal brown people stole the election from him? If you think that's not possible you haven't been listening. As his poll numbers decline, expect Trump's behavior to get more clownish, irrational, and desperate.

Am I on ignore yet? So, @Dugan, you may have been an asymptomatic carrier for some period, and yet you're on here stating that masks are unnecessary. Luckily you didn't infect your family, but it's possible you infected some friend (if you have any) or a colleague. There's evidence that antibodies fade in a matter of weeks. Do you plan to modify your behavior? I'd be interested to know if you have any lingering trouble with shortness of breath?

Ditto on no kids. Only once, and never again. I met her five-yr-old kid at her apartment and saw the squalor that she lived in. Just too sad. I always check "zero kids" on SA.

Randommember's mom got busted
That's not very nice. My mom suffered an arranged marriage with a Kwik-E-Mart owner, had eight kids and tried her best to home-school me. Someone paid her to take my SAT -- but the verbal section was not in Hindi and I ended up spending 7 years in community college (like @Papi).

As far as I can tell you're the one doing the name-calling ("Randumb"). I merely pointed out that you've been wrong consistently throughout the virus scare. (1) This is getting silly -- wash your hands (2) This is nothing more than the flu. (3) The WSJ editorial page says that deaths plateau at 61K -- two why worry (4) My kids and family don't need to wear masks. Anyway, you get the point. Listening to someone who's consistently wrong has value since you can behave in the opposite fashion. @BabyDick: My PhD 's from a top-ten school (in the world).

You've been such a clown and a source of misinformation from start to finish, @Dugan. Normally I'd advise to just ignore you -- but there's some value to listening to someone who has a track record of being consistently wrong.

Instagram Workout Babes - Better Than Porn
I've had two SBs from SA that turned out to be Instagram models and I couldn't care less one way or another. They're not really models. Those with under 10,000 followers are fake, pretentious, model-wanna-be's. I doubt the Asian girl I mentioned above had any sponsors. The second was a 20-yr-old blonde, smoking hot, and she really did get swimwear modeling gigs off Instagram. I'm not into MILF's and go after college-age girls.

It's been a few years, one of my SBs was sort of a fitness guru on Instagram. Asian and 24 when I met her. She's getting a PhD in physical therapy. She over-trained and got a little too muscular for my taste. We would go on cycling dates and it was fun while it lasted .

@Dugan wrote: "Now to be fair, COVID is more contagious than the flu," _____________________ I made the same point in flame-out with @BabyDuck the other day, and obviously you read my posts. There's plenty of slop and uncertainty in how you define the death rate( infection fatality rate? case fatality rate?) and the only thing that matters is the total number of people who die. Total deaths = (fatality rate)*(number infected). With 135K deaths in July and no end in sight, it should be plainly obvious that Covid is more deadly than the flu. Earlier Fauci tried to estimate the infection fatality rate. He first estimated 1% and later downgraded to 0.1% as a crude estimate to get the order-of-magnitude correct. Fauci is getting crucified by idiots that insist that Fauci said it's no more deadly than the flu -- and he didn't say that.

^^^You're talking about the Asian flu pandemic that occurred 60 years ago. Should we also use the pandemic of 1918 as a benchmark? What a dipshit, but what do you expect from a birther-clown who thinks climate change is a Chinese hoax. Over the past 10 years, 60K deaths would be considered a bad year for the flu. We're at 135K deaths in July and we'll probably be at 200K deaths by October.

"...fatalities seem on par with the flu." _____ Try to get your facts straight. In a bad year, flu deaths are about 60K. We've had 135K Covid deaths in a few months.

@BabyDoc wrote: "What I said in my post was that the idea that Covid-19 was like the flu wasn't Trump's idea but it came from his "expert" " ________________________ I'll try to explain this to you one final time in eighth-grade English: The number of people who die is the infection fatality rate multiplied by the number of people who get infected. If Covid is 20x more contagious than the flu, then then 20x more people will die if the infection fatality rate is the same. Fauci didn't say "it's like the flu." HE SAID THE INFECTION FATALITY RATE MAY BE THE SAME."

I posted exactly the same information from Fauci in the NEJM a few months ago, @BabyDoc. Should I dig up my old post? Fauci was pointing out that the infection fatality rate may be about 0.1% and pointed out that the true number of infections was unknown. If you understand English, the total number of people who die is the infection fatality rate multiplied by the number of people who get infected. We don't have a vaccine for Covid. You're taking Fauci's comments out of context, dipshit.

@BabyDoc wrote: " ..blah, blah....which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%..." ____________________ If you put the least bit of effort into being precise, there's a "case fatality rate "(which varies widely due to the number of reported cases) and an "infection fatality rate" which is thought to be about 0.1%, similar to the flu. But we have a vaccine for the flu.. Last time I looked we have 135,000 deaths from Covid in less than half a year -- which dwarfs the number of yearly deaths from the flu, which is about 65,000 deaths. The infection fatality rate may be about the same as the flu -- but Covid is a far, far greater threat.
