At my youth I am able to retire with the same standard of living even if I wasn’t working. Problem being is with more free time I might destroy myself, so I’ll have to figure out a new identity with what I do with my time. It’s a scary thought to make the change, but will jump soon transitioning to starting my own business where I can work when I want, with whom I want. The points Shailyn described are exactly why, due to the working culture expected of everyone from corporate world. The younger generation is changing those expectations, and the old school folks are having a coronary over the generational divide. Work smarter, not harder. Corporate won’t care if you die tomorrow. They’ll replace you in two weeks.

Yeah, crème brûlée blows. Who’d order that hit dessert when there’s chocolate cake, key lime pie, and strawberry shortcake? That’s what it’s like to order at an FKK, and you can get a fruit cup in most US clubs. It’s why I always wait until I get home for dessert when I go out, but we all know it’s about choice.

^^Correct in your assessment, however what makes your statement resonate to those reading is an absence of superiority and judgement. Sort of like saying “to each his own”, and no one hobbies better than anyone else when you’re paying for it. Each man is responsible for his own actions. Drew, you’re a dad and in that role it’s your job to take shit. Everyday your daughters and wife serve a platter of shit for you to deal with every time you walk through that door. It goes to say that to have alone time means you don’t have to consume the shit platter constantly fed to you on a daily basis whenever you walk into your house. However, I bet you’d drive yourself stir crazy if you had too mushy time to yourself, because you’re probably used to being swarmed by the shit constantly hurled at you. Since I’m in a similar situation, I pause when it gets too deep, and try to embrace it and appreciate it because we know it won’t last. Glad you got the means to vacate that shit for a night. I bet you went home and smiled at the girls complaints, needing you to take care of their problems and then you probably feel blessed!

^^ that’s super funny! Anyway, mensch is what 2-bits wants everyone to believe he is. I get it, when you got nothing else going on it can feel like you’re invisible, so yiu create this good guy persona, sort of like you’re better than others. Point being that well to do guys are a dime a dozen on this site, but the rest of us who qualify as accredited investors, don’t have to tell others about our wealth. This 2-bit PL has to declare his status like it’s some marker in life. I don’t find it necessary to mention it, or hire someone (FA at a big bank) to stick their tongue up my ass. Most of us don’t feel the need to advertise our own accreditation to a stranger. It should be noted veterans despise those who bring attention to themselves, but admire those who go about their lives with quiet confidence, not needing a blow horn attached from their pie hole.
