I see you fellas are indoctrinated as well, Trumps administration never told you the truth either, but let’s face facts, Powell was first appointed to the Fed by Obama, elevated to chairman by Trump, and retained by Biden.
Presidents have no real control over monetary policy, haven’t since the Fed was created in the early years of the Twentieth Century ( not sure but I believe the Fed was created in 1915, or thereabouts) the only control over the economy that a president has is the budget.
Just to clarify this discussion The Federal Reserve Bank is autonomous and controls the money supply, not Biden, nor Trump, the mistakes that were made were made by Jerome Powell, independently of the president he served.
If you don’t agree with this than there’s really nothing to discuss.

“So, from this research, the authors find that three main components explain the rise in inflation since 2020: volatility of energy prices, backlogs of work orders for goods and service caused by supply chain issues due to COVID-19, and price changes in the auto-related industries.
BTW inflation has come down, that doesn’t make the prices lower it just slows the rate at which they go up.
If prices were to suddenly drop to pre-covid levels we’d have a whole new set of problems even more severe than our current situation, called deflation do some reading you’ll see how that would be.
As far as getting more housing constructed figure out where the construction companies will find workers to build in anyone’s backyard, they can’t fulfill the work that is already contracted.
As far as taking over an existing mortgage they’ll need a large amount to make up the difference in price, if they can even find a person willing to allow their assumption of the loan, and have the lender agree to the swap.

^ it might be something of an anomaly yet this isn’t the only part of the country where this is happening, it’s happening in Utah, Colorado, Idaho, even in Texas, not that I’m claiming it’s the same all over, but it’s more than an anomaly.
BTW all new housing starts are up by 18.5% not just luxury housing, so there’s an obviously huge demand, and its not being met.

^ Yet they’re building single family luxury homes like crazy in my area, starting prices are over one million, and selling out huge subdivisions very quickly.
The interest rates are right now pretty average, the low rates of the past few years were an anomaly, when I bought my home rates were right around 7%, and even though I refinanced several times to lower my rate, people are buying homes and selling them at a pretty good clip.

Rachels in West Palm used to do this, some of the other South Florida clubs also had golf tournaments, but I haven't heard of one since the begining of covid in 2020.

If we stop patronizing these businesses that tack on a surcharge for using these products, my bet is that most of these companies will not be profitable and drop these gouging tactics.
Originally the credit card companies had agreements with the merchants that expressly forbid the addition of such a surcharge, and when these credit card firms started the merchants would complain if they were denied access to their services that they would lose business by not having the ability to use these services.
Just a thought if their customers were limited to purchases that they could cover immediately their ability to sell would be limited and their bottom line would be impacted and not in a positive way.

^ Swipe fees depend upon volume if your average sale is high and your total sales volume is over certain minimums you can shop your bank and pay much less than 3% per swipe
If you have a smaller business you can join several different associations like The National Federation of Independent Businesses, or Trade Associations as well as your local Chamber of Commerce and get better rates than the 3% you’re talking about.

I think the interbank rate for most businesses is much lower than 3.5%, if they’re charging that much as a fee for using your card they are ripping you off.
BTW when I was in business before I retired my fee for MC, Visa, & Discover was .560% a bit more than a half point, and I never had any problems taking plastic it actually increased my sales by over 33% I looked at it as a win/win.

I don’t ever consent to allow my ID to be scanned, I have refused several times at clubs where they pull this and each time they backed off their policy and allowed me entry without scanning my ID. I think if you stand your ground they will back down and allow you entry.

Florida is also a place full of smokers and most of the clubs in this area allow smoking, I stopped smoking a number of years ago and now I find certain clubs too smoky, and avoid them for that reason.

It really depends on your perception of what’s happening, I actually am in agreement with Skibum about seeing everything around us as changing instead of being aware of our own reality that ageing changes our perception.
