Can anyone recommend a good place to exchange USD's for pesos, in either San Diego or TJ?

Still waiting for "Conditional approval", before I can even try to schedule an interview. Going on 4 months now. : - (

Since 1963 ...
I have only been once, (second trip coming up in a few weeks 😀). First trip I booked a master suite about 2 weeks prior to arrival. Got to HK on a Monday morning, bought my VIP card and checked in at Cascadas with no problem (proper discounts applied). Is it more of a weekend problem, when they are busier?

No, Global Entry requires an interview too, after you first get "Conditional approval". Or at least that's what the TSA website says.

I'm liking this style of report, TFP. Kind of like getting live updates of a trip while you're still "in county".

@Tahoecruz: Now that I think about it, I think you're right that a ficha bucket gets you an hour in VIP booth. Haven't done it myself though.

Nice review. I thought I'd read here that the VIP rooms usually require that you buy a ficha bucket, which if IRC is about $90. Maybe I got that wrong. Also, where did you find free parking on US side of border?

I give in to sin because you have to make this life livable
I for one, appreciate Cristobal for posting this thread. I find the advice he has given, based on his extensive hands on experience ( no pun intended 😉), to be very helpful to those with lesser TJ experience like me.

Cristobal, did you hear anything about the raid from HK BG's or other staff?

So are they real police? What's the reason/ purpose of the search?

For me, I'll take the 6 that gives a 10 performance every time. Performance always trumps looks in my book.

Nice review. When you got your HK VIP card, did they make you show your ID?

The last time I was in TJ they weren't checking ID's before buying a HK VIP card. Anyone know if they are still doing that now? If so, anyone able to get them to not check your ID by giving a tip to them?

Before my first TJ trip I had read from several people here that the orange and white "Taxi Libre" were reliable and would only charge the usual fare of 5$ to take you to HK, without trying to overcharge. I only used the Taxi Libre's or Hong Kong's own limo service to get back and forth to the border. Worked well for me, and I would recommend them.

Any body have any specific room (room number) I should request at Rizo de Oro? Any recommendations would be appreciated.
