Whenever a business does something that makes no sense from a business perspective, my first thought are always governmental regulations or insurance mandates. Then I consider back of house operations. When does the liquor distributor make deliveries? Do you want the bar staff receiving deliveries at night or selling drinks then? If the place sells food, same issue. if you have someone there for those purposes, it costs you little more to turn the sign on and open the door. Regulars know when the girls arrive, newbies or travelers don’t and you can make a few bucks selling the drinks while they wait in vain for dancers.
