I've had similar experiences recently. There is still a decent strip club scene n town ibut it has moved across town to Angels.

When this club first opened, it was my favorite in metro Detroit. Good selection of dancers, private VIPs and reasonable prices. Then management removed the doors on the VIP areas and jacked up the prices. From best to worst in a matter of three month

helpful information on a ROB. Reminds me to stick to my strategy of paying only after the dancer delivers on her promise and to be willing to walk out if the deal goes bad.

Good description of some of the pitfalls and limitations of Penthouse. As you noted, it only takes one really good private dance experience to salvage what would have been a disappointing visit.

I'm not seeing a serious minus to legalized prostitution. Are you claiming that there were zero good looking working girls (and blaming that on legalized prostitution) or that you simply had to be creative and selective to find what you want.

Here is a brief synopsis of a recent visit to four clubs on the Block. I posted it as a review of Chez Joey, which was the best of the four clubs that I visited.
During an afternoon visit to the Block, I stopped by several clubs, all located in close proximity of each other. A quick synopsis and then I'll describe Chez Joey in a bit more detail.
Norma Jeans--a walk through because the talent was sparse-- 3 thick, curvy black girls -- no problem with black girls, but I prefer slender and athletic bodies.
Pussy Cat-- not much talent was visible so a very brief visit.
Red Room-- decent selection of dancers including a few in the 7 range. The VIP is seriously overpriced and it is essentially a closet with a padded seat.
Chez Joey-- decent looking interior (for a converted row house) and a decent selection of dancers (just a smidgen below the Red Room). Arranged for a VIP trip with one of the dancers. The push to buy dancer drinks was not as intense as some of the other clubs so I liked the more laid back atmosphere. The VIP at Chez Joey is upstairs and is a small but comfortably appointed room. The price was also less than the VIP price at the Red Room. Of the four clubs that I visited, none were great value, two had decent (not outstanding) talent (Red Room and Chez Joey) and Chez Joey had the nicest VIP area and a reasonable rate (in comparison to the other clubs). Based on this very limited sample, only Chez Joey and Red Room would merit another visit.

Thanks Toomuchcover. If you can find any reason to travel to San Diego, it is a very easy drive or trolly ride down to the Tijuana club zone. I'm already looking for excuses for my next visit but in reality, I only make the trip about once a year.

One more suggestion. Take a cab ($5) to and from the Hong Kong and adjacent clubs.
On one visit, I stated the trip on foot during the day (it was beautiful weather although the area was pretty sketchy). Within a couple of blocks of the border, I had a local start walking along with me offering to show me the way to HK. After another block or so, the local police pulled up and insisted on searching both of us, claiming that my uninvited companion was a known drug dealer. It would have been far too easy for an unscrupulous cop (read, nearly every cop in TJ?) to slip some drugs into my pocket or wallet and either arrest me or extort money for my release. My limited Spanish did not help very much. I was fortunate that the cop's supervisor,who spoke English, intervened and sent me back to the tourist safe zone (where I caught a cab).
Otherwise, the number of hot chicas, the shaving cream show, the overt sexuality, and the reasonably priced fun should make this a bucket list visit for those with an interest in strip clubs.

Good tips. Also, if your Spanish is not great, get to know one of the waiters (repeat business and a tip helps). They can be helpful in making arrangements with the right dancer.
Anyone know if the shaving cream shows occur during the day or are they restricted to the evening?

rfcookie. You win my award for the feminist of the year with this comment: "As a feminist, I support the right for each woman to make the choice for themselves. To me, it's actually anti-feminist to denigrate the choices that other women make with the thought that you know better than they do."
Far too many of the so called "feminists" that I know are more than willing to impose their narrow values on other women. Some of these radical feminist values range from "all men are evil" to "you can't enjoy sex or allow your body to be appreciated for its sexual attributes, otherwise you're being exploited as a sex object and that is terrible."
I like your brand of feminism much better-- it is empowering and respectful of individual rights. Unfortunately, my feminist of the year award comes with no monetary prizes attached, just a compliment.
