    OT: The Stock Market ?
I’ve always been a mutual funds investor with a mix of index and growth funds but have recently added sector ETF’s and individual stocks. I’ve gotten pretty lucky with that approach. I didn’t buy the Vanguard Energy ETF at the bottom during COVID but still caught it on the way back up. I recently read an article thst suggested you own just these 5 tech stocks. Apple Google Nvifia Microsoft Meta I’d add Tesla to the list. Could be risky but high potential there

Which Voter is Really the Dumbest?
Which voters are the dumbest? Both sides are pretty dumb but the party that keeps electing dinosaurs might be winning the race (in a bad way) Feinstein 89 Pelosi 83 Sanders 81 Biden 80 How can anyone say you can effectively govern at those ages? The airline industry recognizes cognitive decline - but apparently not the American voter

NFL Legend Jim Brown Passes Away
The highlight film of Jim Brown was pretty cool. I don’t remember watching him live - I think he retired in 1966 and I didn’t start watching football until 67-68. There are many ways to define The GOAT. if being the most dominant player of your generation, then Brown wins hands down. But watching that proves the point I was trying to make. As a running back, he was just about the biggest guy on the field. He ran over linebackers and defensive backs. Maybe only a few of the down lineman were heavier than he was. He never had to face the likes of Lawrence Taylor - same size and they both ran a 4.5 forty. He’s not bowling over Lawrence Taylor or Ray Lewis. Like I said, if your measure of greatness is most dominant against your peers, then that’s fine, but I’d like to see Brown (or Babe Ruth) in todays game

Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life
Just when I thought I’d seen it all…
Well, what’s one to do on a Saturday evening? Saturday afternoons and evenings used to be my favorite time to go to a strip club. But thanks to the make-it-rain crowds, clubs don’t start rolling into 11 pm or after and the best girls now don’t come in until late Hell, some clubs aren’t even opening now on Saturday’s until 9 pm

Which Voter is Really the Dumbest?
“MAGA are a bunch of sociopaths and amoral scumbags. It's not about making their lives better, it's about making everyone elses life worse” I didn’t vote for Trump and never will - but this comment is the mother of all ironies Sociopaths? I’d say those who want celebrate and idolize the entire trans “movement” of the past two years more than qualify for that title. You can’t turn on a commercial or TV show without seeing a reference to something that is less than 3% of the population “it's about making everyone elses life worse” Hyperinflation. Record breaking crime. Hmm…

“I also visited Chicago for a week in the Fall and no such issues” Consider yourself fortunate. I travel to Chicago frequently on business and have had close encounters with the homeless the last two visits. I will typically give a less fortunate person a buck or two but when they get in your face and say “C’mon man, I know you have more than that” I wish could go all Daniel Penny on him but I know I’d be arrested and thrown in jail. And I guess you missed all the stories at Christmas about the gangs of hoodlums harassing and assaulting shoppers along the Magnificent Mile

NFL Legend Jim Brown Passes Away
A day after his passing the internet is flooded with stories about Jim Brown - I came here to post about his dark side. But thanks to whodey, he beat me to it. A great football player - yes A good person - hell no It’s almost funny the same woke crowd who celebrate his civil rights activism often fail to acknowledge his long history of accusations of rape, assault and sexual battery against women

I’m living in Ohio now, about an hour from Columbus and the cry from OSU fans is “fire Ryan Day” - the head coach. Losing to Michigan two years in a row will do that. Perhaps ThreeOSU is on campus protesting the University president

I’m old but never saw him play. This is in no way is meant to be disrespectful but I don’t rank him as the best running back of all time. Not above Walter Payton or Barry Sanders. You have to remember he was playing against guys that were working as plumbers in the off season. They didn’t know was a good diet or a lifting weights meant. And he played against white guys who smoked cigarettes and probably drank a shot of whiskey at half time. He never faced Lawrence Taylor or Ray Thomas or Derrick Thomas

Fast Food: Shrinking Portions and Higher Prices
Gammanu, I don’t doubt your knowledge but it seems even the bun is smaller. If the burger is shrinking because of the lean/fat ratio, did they downsize the bun to keep it in proportion? — Taco Bell and White Castle are perfect stops after a long Saturday night at a strip club if you have a long drive home

Best Cities To Live In 2023-24
I always take these rankings with a grain of salt. I don’t think they ever give enough weight to climate / weather. Cold / Hot and snowfall are important factors to lots for people for quality of life and they are often ignored - Minneapolis for example typically usually always near the top in these rankings. And this list - Grand Rapids and Syracuse are among the snowiest big cities in the country yet they made the top 25

    I'm all for diversity, BUT...
I remember as a young traveler being on a flight probably close to 30 years ago - a time when the majority of pilots were former military and some were likely still Vietnam era trained Instead of a slow steady descent and smooth landing it felt like we dropped from the air and boom hit the runway hard. The guy next to me, an older experienced flyer, looked at me, smiled and said “you can always tell the difference between Air Force and Navy trained pilots” Not sure if there’s any truth to that but I always think about that when there’s a less than smooth landing

“The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you very much.“ —Gordon Gekko

Interesting you mentioned Japanese vehicles and rust - For the past 30 years I’ve only driven “Japanese” vehicles although I use that term loosely. Toyota Camry - built in Kentucky Acura - built Japan Lexus - built in Canada Put a ton of miles on all 3 vehicles driving in harsh Midwest winters with heavily salted roads and never had any significant rust issues with any of the 3

You didn’t ask for other options - but why not consider a Lexus? Unless you want high speed performance and gadgets - and I’m guessing not since you mentioned Subaru and Volvo - the quality and dependability of a Lexus easily outdistances BMW. You will save many thousands of dollars in maintenance costs. And you’ll hit $250k miles with little effort.

“If you need to ask about gas usage for boat” I’ve never heard that phrase before but I love it! You could use that a lot in the TJ forum. People will go out of their way to travel to San Diego yet get frugal about spending a few bucks for the best way to get the fun zone

What Type of PL Uses TUSCL?
This “lifestyle” is expensive. The “founder” of the old Michigan TwoSheds board once wrote one of my favorite quotes of all time. “Money rules in strip clubs. All others can eat shit”. I think most of us are older guys who have carefully accumulated wealth overtime. We are are careful to spend on activities outside of clubs in order to have plenty of capital to enjoy ourselves in this hobby. Not to get political is this thread - but I think that’s why we skew conservative. We worked and fought for what we have and never expected favoritism or handouts. We had a goal of what we wanted out of life and made it happen.

Clubs you wish were still in existence.
The Tanga Lounge in Tampa (with the plastic orange chairs) Some people say a “10” does not exist but I met the most beautiful girl here I have ever seen in a strip club. First night - she wasn’t a dancer. She desperately needed money and came with a friend to work. I danced multiple dances with her. I could tell she wasn’t super comfortable but she didn’t hold back getting fully nude and and allowed the same level of touching as regular dancers. Perfect size (and real) tits. Killer body. She just needed to loosen up a bit.
