Vegas trip

Breathe, breathe in the air
I’ve booked a ten night stay in Vegas, fly out on 23 March, or as you guys say March 23 (I’ll never understand why you guys put the month first lol)

I was on Google Maps seeing what Rhino looked like snd was pleasantly surprised, from the outside it looks ok so presumably it’s had a total refurb. I know we all go for the pussy but good decor adds to the experience.

I was also pleasantly surprised to see that what was OG is now Peppermint Rhino so I’m looking forward to checking that out.

If any of you are in Vegas during this period I’d gladly buy you a pint, have a good chin wag and scope the girls.

Any opinions on these clubs would be much appreciated.

Thanks

10 nights in Vegas is 7 way too long. Rent a car or as you might say 'hire a car" check out some of the Phoenix clubs

That is what I call long range planning. I hope your plans include things other than strip clubs and casinos.

I go to Vegas once a year. I 100% agree with Elmer. Way too long. You’ll wind up paying Vegas prices for a few days or nights where you’re just crashed in your hotel room. You’ll be there for the second weekend of March Madness so they’ll be some college basketball to bet on.

If I lived in Europe and was visiting, I’d spend 3 nights, 4 max and pay up for a hotel with a good pool scene. It might be a little cold but Aria or Circa would be my choices. Give you something to do besides strip clubs and the casino. Spend a day gambling in old Vegas and the Fremont St experience. I’d then fly to Cali or stop in south Florida oon my way back for the beaches or New Orleans. It’ll l be spring break.

North Rim of the Grand Canyon would be a nice day trip, if you’ve never seen it. Avoid the airplane tours unless you have a lot of life insurance.

Oops. I just looked up the mileage LV-North Rim. Too far.

I like Vegas and usually when I go there I stay with friends but my max visits there are 3-4 days, if I we’re heading out to Vegas for 10 days I’d say spend more days in California or something like that as a side trip to any number of places, Cali, New Mexico, even Arizona etc 10 days in Vegas is just too much.

If you’re flying in from 8 time zones away, you spend a couple of days just getting over the jet lag. When I used to regularly go the other way, 2 weeks was just right.

Are you going solo or with others?

Do you gamble?

and besides the distance the grand canyon north rim is closed to road traffic at that time of the year. usually lots of snow. south rim will be open however.

Don't go for the strip clubs, which are overpriced and underperforming. The dancers are sharks. Las Vegas does have gambling and shows that are worth seeing.

If you are looking for strip club fun, try to fly through Detroit on your way to Vegas and spend an evening in the clubs here. I promise you'll have a better time in Detroit clubs.

@shafow/shailyn - yes we usually find plenty of things to do. I’m going with my brother-in-law but he doesn’t hit the clubs so I fly solo. From 2008 we went five years on the bounce for a week and always wished we went for longer. We always go and see some shows as well.

Good idea Jackslash, already booked though. There’s a chance I may be going to Detroit anyway for work.

The owner of the Peppermint Hippo, Alan Chang, is a cool guy. Ask him how his pet serval, Aries, is doing if you want to kiss his ass. I am in Las Vegas but have no clue what this chin wag you speak of is.

I'm not a Vegas guy either but I'm not big time gambler dude. If you do get bored, Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam to the east. And the Sierra Nevada mountain range to the west which are awesome, and has the tallest one in the contiguous US with Mount Whitney. You also got the mob museum in Vegas which I recommend if you haven't hit that yet. I haven't checked out any Vegas strip clubs yet.

You also got Death Valley not far from there, which is the lowest point in the US at 282 feet below sea level.

Lockjaw - chin wag is one of many slang terms for a conversation between friends.

The first few times I went to Vegas, strip clubs were a big part of the agenda. As I realized what high price hustle joints they were, I felt like a chump every time I walked in.

I’ll still go to Vegas for the overall experience but strip clubs aren’t part of it.

On the other hand, Vegas is the center of the universe for March Madness. Enjoy the experience.

I can see staying 10 nights in Vegas if you're coming from London. There's plenty to do in Vegas other than strip clubs and gambling. Lots of shows, golfing, people watching on the strit is great, tons of great restaurants and small local dive places to eat. I generally eat at a lot of the same restaurants both on and off the strip (off strip especially for breakfast and lunch). I go at least 5-6 times a year from Southern California and mostly do the quick 2 or 3 night stays and there's still plenty of stuff to do. I've been 4 time this year so far and I still find new things to do and that's without going to any clubs there.

I spend a week in Vegas a few years ago. Had a ball. Shows, Grand Canyon, great restaurants, pool parties. Although March may be a bit on the cool side for pool parties. I'd do it again.

If you haven’t already been there - the Grand Canyon is a must see. I did it on a 4 day trip to Vegas so you should be able to fit it in on a 10 day

Valley of fire state park also worth the short trip. Death Valley trip , about 100 miles out of town, also recommended. Especially that time of year.

Vegas is one of my favorite vacation destinations and don't worry there is plenty to do for a 10 day trip. I would recommend not spending too much time at the strip clubs however since they mileage is not worth the price at least from my limited experience. If you just want to see gorgeous women go to one of the pools around time, if you want to satisfy your sexual needs there are plenty of quality p4p options available outside of the clubs.

In addition to those already mentioned like Hover Dam, Grand Canyon, Death Valley and Valley of Fire I would also add Red Rock Canyon, Antelope Canyon and kayaking at Emerald Canyon if you are an outdoor enthusiast.

If indoor is my you thing the Mob Museum and any number of shows that were already mentioned are great and I would add the revolving restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere especially for a late dinner since the view is amazing when the city is all lit up and a couple of unique bars like minus 5 Ice Experience and Area 15.

If you're feeling adventurous I highly recommend going out to the speedway for at least a ride along if not a driving experience in some of the high performance cars. Since you are from a country that is very anti-gun I suggest yout hit up a gun range while you are there. I recommend Battlefield Vegas and spend the extra to fire the m-134 minigun because there is nothing else quite like it.

I plan to hit up the Atomic Testing Museum, Natural History Museum and Haunted Museum next time I am out there since I have heard great things about them but haven't been yet.

Since 2011 I've been to Vegas over 35 times. I know my way around and it's always changing every year. 10 days is a long time though. All I do now when I go is gamble and go to nice dinners. I play poker tournaments all day and evening and set aside time to go to nice restaurants often off the strip. I've done all the shows I've wanted to see so I rarely go to any nowadays.

Now, you land on March 23 which now is currently the 3rd most popular time of the year for Vegas. #1 is NYE, #2 is the Superbowl and #3 is NCAA March Madness. March Madness now is more popular than Memorial Day (the official opening of pool season) and Labor Day (the unofficial closing of pool season).

On March 23 and 24 will be the round of 32 for March Madness then the next weekend will be the Sweet 16. It's a lot of fun to be there during all the games if you're into that. I used to get a group of friends and we would go every year but we learned it's better to go the weekend before because there are actual live games for each conference tournament in Vegas. For 2024 during that weekend one of the actual tournament sites is close to where I live so I'm going to watch the games live that weekend instead of going to Vegas.

I'll work up a list of places I would recommend you going to dine at.

If you're into Reddit, if you go to r/Vegas you can browse there. Over the years I've found a lot of good info there and some excellent off the strip restaurant recommendations. Actually some ranked up in the best meals I've ever had in my life.

You guys are amazing, I’m so grateful for the suggestions and advice. I went with my brother in law for five consecutive years from 2008 and we did the popular tourist things including a helicopter ride into the canyon and landing at the base.

He’s been many time since but this is my first since 2012.

He’s not into going to clubs but apart from that we like the same stuff. Poker is not my thing but I love Craps and Blackjack. A good run without a seven having all the numbers covered is great with a full table.

Any other suggestions, advice or tips would be appreciated

Thanks again guys, I owe you all a pint.

The only thing I don’t like is the resort fees, that’s legal robbery and a rip-off. And now there’s a daily car parking charge. Sheesh.
