Alright maybe there’s a local spot you like but of the chains that most folks on here would know, where are you eating in the morning?

We have a place here in south Florida called Third Watch that makes an awesome breakfast

It ain’t Denny’s. I asked the waitress for a wildebeest omelette and she asked me “what’s wildebeest?”

WTF is up with that? Anyhoo…it was ultimately an okay breakfast because I had some Jack with my Denver omelette and I ended up drunk enough to pretend there was delicious wildebeest mixed in with those eggs. Also, the waitress sucked my BSLC. So it all worked out. ROAR!!!

I don't eat breakfast out very often, but I've always liked IHOP, even when I'm not in the mood for pancakes.

Might be Bob Evans. Not truly National - most locations are east of the Mississippi concentrated in the Great Lakes states and the Mid-Atlantic.

Nothing fancy - eggs, potatoes, breakfast meats. - consistent quality and usually good service. Don’t get biscuits there - horrible.

Most people’s complaint - high price for a basic breakfast. A local diner could be 40% less than what they charge for the same items.

A few months ago a group of us went over to IHOP for breakfast after a morning golf outing, while we were there we found out that the restaurant no longer serves real maple syrup with its pancakes, any restaurant calling itself International House of Pancakes that serves pancakes without real maple syrup is an imposter and I won’t ever eat thre again because of this.

One thing I don’t like about IHOP - they add a splash of their pancake batter to their omelettes. Claims it makes it lighter and fluffier. I’d prefer just eggs and ingredients I want - especially when I’m eating low carb

IHOPs are generally filthy, and the servers and host(esse)s are miserable. Not quite as bad as Waffle House, but close.

Never been to Third Watch, but I've had many day it is good.

Cracker Barrel is good, too.

I like the Waffle house. Open 24 hours, 365 days a year. Good food, fast and better prices than IHOP.

I travel a lot. Panera is the healthiest, most consistent quality I’ve found.

McDonald’s McMuffins are hard to beat. If you add in a hashbrown it’s like a body cleanse too.

Panera has good food, but portion sizes have shrunk to a ridiculous degree. I feel like I need to buy 2 sandwiches instead of one....and the shrinkage began long before Bidenomivs took hold.

If we are including fast food sandwiches, Dunkin (Donuts) almost can’t be beat. Their sausage egg cheese on a croissant is terrific. And their hash brown rounds are seasoned perfectly.

Bob Evans is great if you are going to dine in. For just a grab and go breakfast while traveling it would be either Sonic or McDonald's. I really like that Sonic has their breakfast available all day because other than their drinks the breakfast menu is the only thing I like there.

some casinos and Golden corral used to have omelets as part of their buffets at a very reasonable price.

I'll second Another Broken Egg and suggest that Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, and Florida all have a number of them. I (like FishHawk) encountered them first in NW Florida.

Chick Fil A egg white grill sandwiches are really good. Starbucks sous vide egg bites also really good. We have a First Watch 5 mins from me in Maryland but I haven’t tried it.

I have about five small, non-chain breakfast / lunch places near me, so I almost never go to the chain breakfast places.

Considering both convenience and food, Dunkin' Donuts hits the spot.

Cracker barrel used to be my favorite. If you ask you can have them make you toast instead of their biscuits. But I quit cracker barrel since they became woke. I like Bob Evans. Their "whole hog" breakfast is real good. I like waffle house because you can watch your food being made. I also like huddle house. But, I usually find a mom and pop place for breakfast

^ I didn't realize Cracker Barrel has gone woke, but I now see they gave.

Businesses and entertainers ruin themselves by pandering and being excessively vocal regarding wokeness and politics.

I was a huge fan of Jim Gaffigan until I heard him being vocal about his political views. Whatever happened to TUSCL poster jimgassigan btw?

I like Cracker Barrel for lunch / dinner but not my favorite for breakfast. Almost everting you order - bacon, sausage, ham, even the eggs, take on a strong hickory smoke flavor

The Original Pancake House is pretty good. I have one near me that I go to when friends are in town. They are probably in over 30 states but there are not a ton of them like Denny's or IHOP.

I am a fan of Biscuitville and Bojangles, both of which make great biscuit sandwiches and are regional to the Southeast.

The consensus seems to be that Mom ‘n Pop independent diners are the best choice when available

There was a Greek diner where I used to live that actually gave you “too much food ” - and for me, that’s nearly impossible

They served 4-egg omelettes and frittatas. It was one of those places that doubled the eggs so you had to be careful when ordering. Order one got your two. Two got you four.

Their omelettes with gyro meat and feta were great.

Carl's diner Oxford mass where a side order of bacon covers an entire dinner plate and a kielbasa omelet weighs over 2 pounds.

There’s so many good local places from bagel shops to little cafes all over the place around here, all locally owned and with great breakfast deals under $5. Including coffee it’s hard to pick any individual breakfast spot, if I had to chose JoJos on Lantana Rd because they’re family friends.

A few years back we used to have special occasion breakfast gatherings at Carmines at the top floor of the Boca Resort but sadly they closed a victim of the pandemic. now the only local high end breakfast buffets are at some of the country clubs in the area.

"One thing I don’t like about IHOP - they add a splash of their pancake batter to their omelettes. "

thanks for that bit of info motorhead. i was talking to someone about that and pointed out that they don't taste like any of the omelettes i've ever had in my lifetime. and they're fucking huge!!!! once i'm finished eating one i barely have enough stomach room for a couple of pancakes.

I like Waffle House, but the nearest one is about 500 miles from where I live in Massachusetts, so a rare experience for me. I've always liked Cracker Barrel as well, but the nearest one of those is about 40 minutes from me as well and there are so many good privately owned breakfast places near where I live that I'm not going to drive 40 miles to Cracker Barrel.

Of course, I recently found out I'm diabetic, so a lot of the stuff I would eat at breakfast are things I won't be having much of any more.
