Don't go to the free clinic to get tested, go see a regular doctor. Free clinic tests are incredibly unreliable. If you had chicken pox as a kid you can get a false positive for herpes (the virus's look extremely similar), and if the clinic is using the older spectral analysis (looks for certain protein structures) you can get a false pos or neg. Go see your doctor, good test usually less than $60, and most insurance covers.
Oh, and I'm clean of everything as my last annual tests (hey, if you're gonna play, you need to be aware of the risks, and that being said make sure your not unknowingly spreading things).

Type 2 is less common. Type 2 you get in your neather regions (although type 1 down there is becoming more and more common too).
Either way, it's a lot more prevelant than most people think.
