The all-time leader in NCAA basketball points per game average is none other than Pistol Pete Maravich. 44.2 points per game. No 3-point shot. 3 seasons. 3,667 points. No 3-point shot. Oh yeah, less possessions back then as well; no shot clock.

Got some great dances yesterday from a young dancer who said a few things that not only amazed me, but made me wonder if I will outlive this country, which is scary to me as I am almost 69. The…

Two years ago this record was almost broken (4 points shy) by Antione Davis. Although, Antione played in the Horizon league, his dad was the coach, he played an extra year because of COVID rules, and all he did is shoot 85 3-pointers a game, playing almost double the amount of games as Pete and still came up short.
Some records (hopefully) will never be broken. This is one of them.
Pete played in my day. I didn't have 1/100th of his game but I nailed his socks!
Pete Maravich once questioned Larry Bird after a play: “Why did you call for the ball? You were double- teamed, I was open!” Bird's response? Pure savage: “If you were any good, you would have been double- teamed.” Classic Larry Legend
Larry was simply the greatest trash talker ever because he was not only savage, he could back it up. On the last game of a road trip in Portland, Bird was bored so he told his teammates, the press and finally the Trailblazers team that he was going to play the game, at least the first half, left-handed. He was right-handed but scored 27 points left-handed.
OT: Who could forget Kareem Abdul Jabar in the movie "Airplane" playing Rupert Murdoch the copilot. IRL, KAJ would be disqualified for being too tall for airline (or military) pilot. I think the maximum height for those positions would be 6'6"
@minnow it was roger murdock? Rupert murdoch is the old fox news mofo
Yes, cc, good catch. Roger, over, and out.
Anyone else remember this Dr. J and Larry Bird commercial?
What's your vector Victor?
Someone went back and tracked his shot-making. They estimated he would have averaged over a dozen 3’s per game and averaged around 55 points. That doesn’t even account for increased pace of play with shot clock.
