Almost all the employees in a strip club want & often expect tips, from the girl taking the cover-charge to the bathroom attendant - strip clubs revolve around cash & at many clubs they do all they can to separate you from your $$$ from paid-parking to paid -seating.
Who do you get asked by all the time & under what circumstances?
Yes it's rude. If the only way you can get a tip is to ask for it then you don't deserve a tip. Im a generous tipper but I never tip people who ask for or demand it.
Tip = To insure promptness. I worked in the restaurant business a long time. Asking for a tip guarantees no tip from me. I took care of my customers. If they felt I did a good job, I'd get a tip. Never, ever did I ask for a tip.

I do not believe strippers deserve a tip just for asking for a dance. Tips on stage yes, but not when walking around asking for dances. It makes it seem the dancers are desperate if they walk around asking for tips. Maybe some clubs are like that.
Also waitresses should ask if you want change back instead of just keeping it. It seems like almost everyone in a strip club wants to take advantage of your wallet.
I always get asked by the house mom for a tip( because I am a generous tipper). But, usually if she or a dancer blatantly ask for a tip and they didn't do anything to deserve it- I tell them NO, they are being rude! (It usually works, too!)
" It seems like almost everyone in a strip club wants to take advantage of your wallet."
And water is wet.
I am sure that in a world of over 7 billion people there are one or two women that would work in the strip club for free, everyone else is there for your money and no other reason.
However the converse is also true. It their service has been good, but you are not till the or you are tipping poorly, then that is also rude. That might be why they are asking.
Ok - I just re-read the title where you state strippers & waitresses vs just strip clubs in general.
It is fairly common for dancers to ask for a tip after dances, most are polite about it such as saying "tips are appreciated" after they have given you dances and you are paying them - that's just them trying to get the most out of their dances like custies try to get the most out of their dances - I don't like being asked for tips but have gotten used to them asking, sometimes I tip sometimes I don't depending on how good her dances were (and most of the time when I tip a dancer I tip her w/o her asking me) - what I don't like is strippers coming up to you uninvited asking for tips for not doing anything.
w.r.t. waitresses, yeah that is how our system works that servers are supposed to get tips b/c they don't even get paid minimum wage.
I don't feel obliged to tip dancers especially if the dances are expensive ($20+) - in dives where floor-dances are 5-bucks I tip almost every time (tip more the better the dances are) - and I always tip a waitress that gets me a drink unless she does something to piss me off.
Generally I have found that if you have to ask for a tip, you didn't earn it.
(this applies to those of us who tip accordingly, and not those who won't tip even if the service warranted it.)
It's rare that I get an outright request for a tip. It's usually more along the lines if a dancer pulling her g string out to entice me to slide a few singles in. Or better yet when she offers a little something extra in exchange for a tip like when I'm at a topless club and she offers to show her pussy for a little tip.
I think it may be a club by club basis. If all the customers are cheap and don't tip anybody they may be more inclined to start asking for tips. In a club full of free tipping whales, they might already expect a tip and don't feel the need to ask.
The only times I can recall dancers asking for a tip are ones that didn't do anything to deserve it, like asking for a tip after you've declined a dance. There's one club here where they pass the dollar bucket around and the girl keeps half of what goes in the bucket. Some of them just love being the bucket bitch so they can beg everyone for an extra dollar, and I make a point to never spend money on girls that do that.
I have never had a waitress ask for a tip. because I tip them every time they bring me a drink. If you aren't tipping your waitress or bartender, you quickly fall into the piece of shit category.
Rude to ask for a tip, yes, absolutely. With strippers, her asking for a tip is a guaranteed way not to get a tip from me, and for me to warn all my buddies away from her, too... if her dance were good enough to earn a tip, I would have already tipped her.
With waitresses, I think they should never have to ask for a tip, because you should have already tipped them ... assuming they provided you some service, like bringing you drinks or whatever.
I don't like anyone asking for a tip anywhere I am. I typically tip 20% in a restaurant or bar. The club is different though; I don't tip my regulars for dances and they don't mind, but then I always stage tip them. Funny thing though; I tipped my ex-ATF (who is now back with her b/f so is NOT returning to dancing) the first few times we danced and she'd give it back! And it wasn't a set up for later as I'm nowhere near as rich as her whales were.
I would agree that asking for a tip probably puts a girl on my ignore list but you have to adjust this accordingly.
In some areas of the country the "Tip Walk" when a girl gets off stage is customary and is pushed by management. When in Rome, do what the Romans do. (especially if you don't want all the girls in the place to think your a cheap bastard and avoid you) I will say this much for the tip walk- at least it gets the girls to circulate and not just sit with regulars/ on the phone. You can make it known if you are interested in a private dance, and if she just sits with regulars without at least telling you she had someone else lined up, you know NOT to tip her the next time around the room
Bathroom boy gets $1 a visit, bartender gets $1 a visit. Bouncers never get tips. Only once ever a new bouncer at my reg SC repeatedly asked for a tip from me, I told him I only tip strippers and he gave up. At the clip joint in my town, bouncer line up at whales demanding $20s otherwise "you wont like your LD [no touching]" and "can you help out my friend?" and "dont stiff a brother". Doorman offers a "deal" because you are "friends" to get free cover, but then all his bouncer friends come over wanting tips once you are inside.
I generally dont tip. If I like a stripper, I will buy more TIME with her, not buy specific services. Whenever I got into a situation negotiating for extras, tip prices were $100s for a HJ and $100s more for DFK, I abandoned it since SC pussy is never worth more than GFE pornstar from AVN. Once a stripper said touching is $300 tip in VIP on top of $150 for 15 mins. I didnt go through. Either a stripper likes you or she doesn't. Money can't make her smile at, it only makes you look more pathetic infront of her eyes. With all the "make it rain" customers who are dealers and financial guys who come in herds to SCs to show off their manhood on making it rain infront of their bros but never letting a dirty ho touch them, many strippers today feel they dont have to touch customers to get $. They get $ for "being hot". $ wont get you anywhere with these girls.
Wait. Shit here is not adding up. I've never had a dancer or a waitress ask for a tip in a strip club, ever. Are you sure they are NOT asking for an asshole tax as a tip? Sometimes they do that when a customer is being a pain.
Tourist spots and travelling dancers ask more so, a local or regular, I'd axe. The calculation either pays off or it doesn't. I understand it's all part of the game.

The exception would be if she blew you in VIP and you didn't negotiate a price ahead of time.
