Things are happening faster than I can keep up. Thanks to Mikeya02 for offering this thread.

Santa Clara California, day after my Christian Eating Lions made their debut, and the Super Bowl:

Mayor Jamie Matthews signs a call for a closed doors City Council Meeting for the next day to review the City Manager Julio Fuentes. Fuentes is the focus of a Grand Jury probe into the Stadium Authority, and also of allegations of destruction of evidence.

Then Matthews announces his own retirement effective immediately. So he won't be at the meeting.

More Santa Clara news:

http://blogs.mercurynews.com/internal-af…

So Mayor Jamie Matthews resigned yesterday, though he called it retirement. But before he did this, he signed a notice of a special closed session City Council meeting to review City Manager Julio Fuentes.

So we are waiting to see if Fuentes resigns before the meeting. If not, it sounds like they are poised to fire him. Though it could split 3 to 3.

The only one who seems to want a larger political career is City Council Member Dominic Caserta, and so far he's mostly been a clown. But in this he could be a deciding vote.

I didn't watch the video, but the lead picture is of the Hilton Saint Claire Hotel, in downtown San Jose, near Cesar Chavez Park and San Jose State.

Original Joe's Restaurant is just a block down the street.

We don't really know what the Grand Jury is looking at, or what the real source of contention is between City Manager Julio Fuentes and some of the members of the City Council, or why the Mayor resigned yesterday.

I keep watching for news that Santa Clara City Manager Julio Fuentes has resigned, before the 4:30 special closed door meeting of the City Council which Mayor Jamie Mathews called yesterday just before submitting his own resignation.

I thought Fuentes would resign today. But if he is claiming a hostile and race based work environment, then maybe he won't.

I would have thought that the remaining 6 of the City Council would then have fired him, and probably unanimously. But maybe not. Maybe the rumored divisions run extremely deep.

But we don't really know what this is about, or what evidence the Civil Grand Jury is looking at. It must be something which is going to be embarrassing, like that lots of money has been lost in running the stadium.

Personally I am glad to see Mayor Jamie Matthews go. I would like to see Fuentes go, and I would like to see all of the remaining 6 of the City Council go. I view the stadium and the construction bubble which has followed as simply the continuing legacy of Edward DeBartolo, Meyer Lansky, and Carlos Marcello, making a leveraged buy out of a small city. Want to see how the Mafia works, then look no further than Santa Clara's City Hall.

The best would just be to be able to use that stadium again and feed them all to my lions.

I'm not sure if they had any parade. Maybe the issue is that some members of the City Council were committed to Santa Clara getting lots of and lots of money in retail, plus real estate boosting.

Maybe it didn't go off as planed, as San Francisco got all of the action.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoCIiZhK…

So maybe three City Council Members running for re-election in November have turned against the City Manager? They are all crooks anyway.

Yes, I think this is it. As you know, I've been really busy taking care of my Christian Eating Lions, so I hadn't been following Super Bowl stuff.

But here it looked like Santa Clara was planning big stuff:
http://www.mercurynews.com/49ers-stadium…

I mean, Julio Fuentes is a jerk. Sooner he is gone the better. But in my opinion Santa Clara City Council Members Lisa Gillmor and Debi Davis are downright criminals. They deserve much worse than just firing.

http://blogs.mercurynews.com/purdy/2015/…

And then finally:
http://www.sfexaminer.com/santa-clara-wo…

So probably he huge week of festivities that Santa Clara had planned on somehow got canceled. They wanted retail money, but most of all they wanted to extend a real estate bubble.

And it is exactly this sort of thing which causes recessions.

Here we go, something updated:
http://www.mercurynews.com/bay-area-news…

This article is misleading, as the closed door council meeting was supposed to be to decide what to do about Julio Fuentes. But they are saying that what to do about the vacant Mayor's seat is the issue. I guess that does come first.

Yes, so this was just last evening:

Many business owners and likely the City of Santa Clara itself actually lost money on the Super Bowl, while the NFL pocketed over $100 Meg.

Disgruntled residents at a City Council Meeting tell the NFL that next time it's "Pay to play or go away".

Problem is though the City is being run by real estate speculators who don't care how much money is spent, so long as property values continue to increase.

Field of Schemes is a play-by-play account of how the drive for new sports stadiums and arenas drains $2 billion a year from public treasuries for the sake of private profit. While the millionaires who own sports franchises have seen the value of their assets soar under this scheme, taxpayers, urban residents, and sports fans have all come out losers, forced to pay both higher taxes and higher ticket prices for seats that, thanks to the layers of luxury seating that typify new stadiums, usually offer a worse view of the action.

from above sanjoseinside article

"
This patterns holds. A soon-to-be-released Stanford case study of the last five Super Bowl cities confirms that there is no significant statistical basis for the claim that sex trafficking, or the demand for paid sex, increases around marquee sporting events.
"

"
The Super Bowl sex trafficking sirens seem to fly in the face of conventional prostitution economics. Most sex workers build a cache of reliable clients that provide most of their income through steady year-round visits. For the myth to be true, traffickers would have to travel from event to event, board their captives in hotels at inflated rates, advertise to attract dozens of new-in-town customers, then charge less than the local prostitutes to undercut the competition. All while law enforcement is on its most alert status.

“It’s just not a viable business model,” McNeill said. “From an economic standpoint, the whole trafficking myth is bogus. It doesn’t make sense.”
"

http://www.truth-out.org/news/item/28763…

"
"Prostituted" individuals is anti-trafficking code for consensual sex workers, filtered through a definition of trafficking that defines all sexual labor as necessarily forced.

"
Still, champions of the crackdown list the Bay Area and Silicon Valley as among America’s highest risk areas for human trafficking, especially labor trafficking, which is three times more prevalent than sex trafficking worldwide.
"

"
Cindy Chavez, center, has taken the lead on publicizing human trafficking at the county, which some critics suggest may be a form of political star building.
"

"
On Dec. 1, county Supervisor Cindy Chavez led a press conference announcing the plastering of human trafficking awareness signs on all 350 VTA vehicles. The predominant poster depicts a young, light brown-skinned teen with an American flag bandana blindfolding him. Next to hotline numbers read the phrase: “Don’t Be Blind: If you see or suspect human trafficking, say something.”
"

Yes, these posters are everywhere right now! Usually PSA posters going up means that we are in an economic down turn, so they can't otherwise sell the ad space.

Mayor resigning day after the Super Bowl, and seeming intent to fire the City Manager. Now that City Manager countering with a racial harassment claim. Whatever is really going on has not come to the surface yet , but it will.

And then County Supervisor Cindy Chaves riding the Human Trafficking bandwagon. Inside San Jose doing a good job of debunking it.

What’s it all mean?
A couple takeaways:

▪First, there was some concern that given previous tensions between council members and the even number of seats (following Jamie Matthews’ departure), Santa Clara’s council would not be able to come to an agreement on controversial land-use issues. This shows that the council is making a real effort to find common ground under the new Gillmor era.
▪Second, density — as in real, urban-scale density — remains politically challenging in Silicon Valley cities, even when project sites are in transit-served locations.

Carl Guardino, CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, urged the council to approve the project, noting that BART is slated to terminate at the Santa Clara station that’s kitty corner from the site. Funding sources like the federal government want to see that cities are building up station areas that will help feed ridership and revenue to these nodes. “Part of bringing rapid rail to Santa Clara is building the appropriate homes and commercial development that will go hand in hand with that effort,” he said.

In approving a scaled back project, Santa Clara is leaving density on the table. But it might have been the only politically feasible way to get any project at all on the site.

10 most liberal and 10 most conservative cities, also has detailed Red v Blue map of country.
http://modernsurvivalblog.com/current-ev…

https://alt.coxnewsweb.com/statesman/met…
More about conservative and liberal cities, with extensive analysis and a special emphasis on California.

For cities not much more than 100k population, Cambridge MA, Berkeley CA, and Gary IN are extremely liberal. The most liberal for their modest size.

The one in these lists that really surprises me is Jacksonville Florida

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacksonvil…

For its size and how black it is, I would have expected it to be one of the most liberal. But in fact it is one of the most conservative!

The Celesta: The Sound of the Sugar Plum Fairy
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story…

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celesta
also has Sugar Plum Fairies recording

For the Akhnaten Opera they are using the lower octaves of the Celesta. I thought it was some sort of hammer bells. But it sounds nice. Still even if it is steel hammers on steel rods, and with the wooden resonator box, I would not expect it to the that loud. I also think the force required would mean that one's hands would tire quickly. I take to heart what Cameron Carpenter says about organs versus pianos. So I know I would like the synth patch version of the celesta better.

And some pit orchestras are doubling the celesta with a synthesizer.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiophone

Akhnaten, Philip Glass, full opera, Indiana U
http://music.indiana.edu/iumusiclive/str…

program
http://music.indiana.edu/events/program.…

Several aspects of Akhnaten’s biography, especially several taboo sexual
imputations, may have originated in later Egyptian sources that, following the
restoration of the traditional priesthood, essentially engaged in a historical smear
campaign against the usurper. Nevertheless, Akhnaten’s legacy still contains complex,
even troubling aspects for modern audiences. As a monotheist, Akhnaten was both
an idealist and an absolutist, and his destruction of the images and worship of the old
gods was ruthless—leading us, perhaps, to see him less as a rebellious spiritual hero
defying a conservative order and more as a prophet of modern religious intolerance.

Another such dilemma is played out musically at the opening of Act III. In
Glass’s sharp juxtaposition of the royal family’s dreamy, wordless singing against the
denunciations of the people, we might hear represented an inherent paradox in the
mystical experience, whose withdrawal from everyday reality is both its blessing and
its curse. Led by their spiritual imaginations, Akhnaten and his family move beyond
words into a purely musical, transcendent realm, but also become increasingly insular
and alienated from the very real empire that their negligence of duty allows to decay
and crumble.

Akhnaten was not Mubarak. His leadership did not purposefully limit the
freedom of his citizens nor was he brutal to his people. However, he was a man
who became increasingly uncaring about the daily needs of his country. While he
was history making in his declaration of monotheism, he allied himself more with
God than his citizens. Constructing a utopian city, surrounded by mountains and
bordered by the Nile, he became philosophically, and literally, isolated from his
people. As in modern-day Egypt, an historical populace continually marginalized by
its leadership becomes a populace who will revolt.

The original work of Philip Glass concludes the opera with a modern look back
at the Akhnaten era during the Ruins scene. I have added another modern scene
during the opera’s Prelude and extended the Ruins scene—with a current reflection
on life—as the opera concludes. Through the use of projections and present-day
action, I invite you to consider the parallels of these two significant eras.

When belief becomes obsession and rulers become myopic, the citizens will
determine a new fate for themselves. History, as they say, certainly does repeat itself.

************************************

How do they do the back drops in this opera? I would have assumed that front projection of slides is the easiest. But then they have so much light on the performers in the front. And they are too close to the lower edge of the back drop for that.

Sydney Opera House, they say this is an opera house, not a concert hall. And it looks to me much like the Disney Music Center in Los Angeles. So no proscenium? No place to hang curtains or raise them, no wing areas to move setting to and from?

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G61PeNE2chg/Tl…

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney_Ope…
Oh, now I understand, this place in Sydney has at least 4 different performance rooms in it. The concert hall is the largest, as shown in the picture. But there is also a proscenium theater, which is used by the Opera and the Ballet companies.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proscenium…

Theater Design Website:
https://theatredesigner.wordpress.com/th…

So if it is not front projection, it must be back projection. How well does this work, how big can it be, and how much front light can you have? This can not be one of those business projectors reflecting light off of and LCD chip. And it can't be just 35mm slides either. Probably slides big like motion picture film. 70mm, 105mm? What ever they use today. Bigger takes the heat better. And them some is moving motion picture film. That kind of equipment is expensive and it is costly to make the movies.

At least with back projection you eliminate the problem of matching the border of the projected light with the boarder of the black surround. You just go a bit over with the light.

And then how much behind screen depth do you need.

How much does all of this cost?

Why America’s Next President Will Not Be a Socialist
http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/01/15/w…

It is true that Sanders is advocating going after the wealthy elites who dominate the economy by raising taxes, closing tax loopholes and placing tax havens off limits while at the same time doubling the minimum wage to help low-income earners. And it is true that he is proposing to also redistribute that wealth in the form of funding universal healthcare, tuition-free university and much-needed infrastructure projects. But none of this constitutes socialism.

Ontario Canada, Universal Basic Income

http://www.sciencealert.com/a-canadian-p…

I think a basic income guarantee is mandatory. Capitalism is what creates unemployment. And Cecil Williams and the people who run Guild Memorial United Methodist Church in San Francisco have got it right. Poverty is caused by social marginalization.

So a corollary is simply this, everyone wants to do well. They want to win the admiration of family and friends. So if they are not doing well, then there must be some social marginalization or disability at work here. But as the main problem is marginalization, then we should not talk about disability, as usually this just means more marginalization.

And of course it is absurd that people should be accepting psychiatric labels. These are just an extreme form of oppression.

So for there to be justice there has to be this basic income guarantee, or what amounts to cradle to grave welfare.

The typical person on welfare takes far less out of our economy than those employed do. And if the welfare recipient is not driving around much in a car, then they are treading far more lightly on the earth than those who senselessly burn up gas and dump CO2 into the atmosphere to do jobs which produce absolutely nothing which people need to live.

Now welfare takes money out of gov't coffers, but in the US welfare has never been more than 3% of federal expenditure. This is much less than corporate welfare and other expenses directed to the betterment of the middle class in order to maintain political allegiance, or to keeping the poor down. So welfare is a cheaper way to keep our society going than the present state of affairs.

And then as far as federal accounts, it is the federal gov't which controls the printing press, the furnace, and interest rates which multiply the availability of money by the inverse of the interest rate. Suffice to say, federal accounts and the money supply are all under gov't control, hence it is artificial. It is just a matter of who and what are being served by it.

So as those who are not doing well are simply the victims of social injustice, we must redress this social injustice.

1. Stop using psychiatric labels, learning disability labels, or morality labels.

2. Offer people value producing work, not nonsense just to get a paycheck.

3. Provide this cradle to grave welfare system as efficiently as possible, and understand that everyone wants to be a useful and meaningful part of our society.

4. Follow my recommendation and hold parents accountable for exploiting their children, using them to give themselves a adult identity. This amounts to psychological child abuse. So besides criminal prosecution where practical, also prevent disinheritance and offer something like a divorce from one's parents when their is parent v child animosity. Make the parents pay, and pay dearly. Make it so that child exploitation no longer pays.

5. And for those who insist on calling the poor lazy or immoral, know that this is how Capitalism works. It is the family where this starts, with the designation of a child as the blacksheep. Those who denigrate the poor are just doing what their parents did to them. So the poor and marginalized need to start standing up for themselves rather than submitting. They and all of us must start engaging in public advocacy and non-violent civil disobedience.

6. And then since the New Economy and Libertarianism are really just the old Social Darwinism and Eugenics Movement, saying that the poor are not fit to compete, we all need to be prepared to do more than just be non-violent. We don't want to be like Anne Frank's father, hiding in an attic waiting for the Gestapo. We need to be ready to engage in guerrilla warfare, the use of lethal force, and without taking prisoners. Unless we are willing to do this, then we are helping the eugenicists who say that we are not fit to live. Gandhi and Jesus lived in violent revolutionary times. They were only able to accomplish their works because others were maintaining the constant threat of lethal violence on a large scale.

How could there be such a dispute about monies claimed to have been paid, or about contractual obligations? Undoubtedly this is why there is a Civil Grand Jury impaneled and why Mayor Jamie Matthews has resigned and why City Manager Julio Fuentes is resigning. Previously what the real issues were behind these resignations was not known.

Everyone involved in the politics of the South Bay cities and watching from the sidelines has known that there was something seriously wrong. But this is the first mention of anything which could conceivably lead to criminal charges. But it is still not clear who might be charged.

This place had been Viet Coffee during the day time and Viet Bar at night time. Don't know of any reason it would be the site of a shooting. But perhaps because many Viet Coffee customers are regulars, someone decided that that would be a good place to get someone. Don't know what a real motive might be though. Keeping ears open for any discussion of other illegal activities which could bring large sums of money into play. San Jose continues to have a shrinking police force, and so they can't do as much as they used to. It is not impossible that other patterns of illegal activity have started to surface. And this place, serving alcohol and being only a minor coffee shop, could potentially have gone a new direction. Don't know, but will keep eyes and ears open.

Zarathustra, Strauss
In this video they show you the organ pipes, the organ console, and the organist. They will always have a rear view mirror so they can see the conductor. In this one they don't double the pipe organ with anything else. So on my computer, 32' C = 16.4hz, is not hearable at all.
Probably Strauss keyed this in C so that he could use the lowest note on pipe organs.
So imagine today being able to do it with a 64' C note = 8.2hz, or even 128' C = 4.1hz
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RdZ7rO_…

In this other version I can't tell if they have the 32' rank pipe organ or not. But they do use the wood basses. Those only go down to 16' E. So they could play 8' C. Or maybe they have a brass instrument which can do 16' C, and then they could do 16' G on the basses. You see that they do real short fast bowing so it sounds like a rumble. Playing 16' C and 16' G will make your brain believe that there must be 32' C being sounded. This is a psycho acoustic effect.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETveS23d…

Of course the E and E flat tympani's are what really make this interesting. Understanding this, it would not be that hard to write something like this of one's own. :)

http://www.contrabass.com/

Here it says that the string bass can do 16' C, so it would be one octave below a cello. That was not my understanding.
http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=bass…

I guess there is "double bass" and then even lower, "contra bass".

Anyway, this reed instrument goes a bit below 16' C = 32.8hz
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contrabass…

sounding pitch, down to 32' B flat. So an 88 key piano goes down to 32' A
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contrabass…

So probably this can do it too, non-reed
http://www.contrabass.com/pages/orch-tub…
san_jose_guy

another Zarathustra. In this I see no pipe organ. I see the quick short bowing of basses. But I cannot hear anything at all through the computer and my earphones. Maybe these are contra basses instead of double basses. So instead of E A D G tuning, may these really do go all the way down to 16' C, a full octave below a Cello.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5bU7ibq…

I think this sounds 1 octave below what is written, so this would mean that it goes to 16' C
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_bas…

but right here it says exactly what had been my understanding:

The double bass is generally tuned in fourths, in contrast to other members of the orchestral string family, which are tuned in fifths. The standard tuning (low to high) is E–A–D–G, starting from E below second low C (concert pitch). This is the same as the standard tuning of a bass guitar and is one octave lower than the four lowest-pitched strings of standard guitar tuning.

And this is most interesting because in perfect temper tuning, the natural 5th is extreme close, but the 4th is not. So this is why violin's, viola's, and cello's work so well with temper tuned music. But the bass being in 4ths is a different story.

Ah! Patience and the Internet pay off. Here is the answer to my conundrum! C- extension

In Britain, the United States and Canada, most professional orchestral players use four-string double basses with a C extension. This is an extra section of fingerboard mounted on the head of the bass. It extends the fingerboard under the lowest string and gives an additional four semitones of downward range. The lowest string is typically tuned down to C, an octave below the lowest note on the cello. More rarely this string may be tuned to a low B, as a few works in the orchestral repertoire call for a low B, such as Respighi's The Pines of Rome. In rare cases, some players have a low B extension, which has B as its lowest note. There are several varieties of extensions:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c…

4 extra semi tones when you use this, so you get to 16' C.

And some even go to 32' B

So I am not now seeing that there is any Contra Bass lower than Double Bass, just Double Bass using the C-extension or the B-extension.

But in that above video they do show some very low wind instruments, including the Conrabasson, with it's reed.

Seriously tied up in contentions 24/7 political matters. So don't worry, nothing has happened to me. :)

Eventually I will be able to be more out about my f2f life. And that is when I'll be taking to the road as well, partaking at SC's and AMPs everywhere I go. P4P yields dolled up hotties, and it is the fastest and most reliable way to get results in a new place.

Drawbridge CA, out exploring some years ago I stumbled upon this ghost town by accident. Just highly weathered wood stickup up out of the mud now. This used to be the South Bay's Vice Zone, reaching its peak during Prohibition.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drawbridge…

The new Vice Zone will be of course next to that stupid NFL stadium. People don't realize what is happening, otherwise they would never allow it.

Look at the Erik Satie music:
http://www.free-scores.com/PDF_EN/satie-…

How hard to you think it would be to write music that it is this good, and still keep it this sparse and easy to play?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kj_UETbq…

I set some Psalms to music for an Episcopalian Rector who had bought a psaltery once.

http://songofthewood.com/product/plucked…

It was because of the instrument's narrow range that I knew that writing one's own music would be a necessity. Always easier to write the music if you have the words already. I learned this from a book about how to write advertising music.

I did largely have it worked out in my head, each of the pieces. I played them for myself on a cheapie keyboard synth. Then for the Rector I demonstrated on their piano.

and here

I believe that the best organ music has to be specifically written for organ. ( temper tuned, as pianos are not, and non-percussive, as pianos are not. )

http://sanjose.granicus.com/MetaViewer.p…

This is no good. Some of the new places are back door only. They are probably places which don't even officially exist.

Lux Spa was not a place I've visited, but it was known to be good, more of an AAMP level of service than an AMP level. Seemed connected to a similar place which SJPD closed, out on E. Santa Clara St.

The trafficking argument is total bullshit.

But there is an exchange circuit between LA and the Bay Area for the younger girls who don't want to work in their home town.

The 2 ft clearance distance around massage tables is not something I'd heard of before. Some of these places are very improvised and the rooms are too small. LE could just be trying to make it tough on them.

But it could be that without that clearance it looks like the set up is not really for massage.

In the old days girls showed me that it is best just to take the sheet of the table and spread it on the carpet and fuck on the floor.

But today these shops seem to have larger massage tables.

Also nice to get the girl onto your lap and get friendly with her. But some of these places just have rooms that are too small.

This idea of prohibiting that address from hosting another AMP once they have been busted, is of course no good.

This is the same thing as with strip clubs. Local authorities like to demolish the buildings. No Good!

I've not had time yet to look at other old and new threads.

Law enforcement sources told the celebrity gossip website that a call was placed at 8:38 AM, reporting a “possible suicide.” The dispatch call alluded to a female employee involved in an argument on campus, who sustained a head injury — possibly from a gunshot wound — while being escorted out by security. It was not immediately clear what happened to the female employee mentioned in that call.

Now they say no one else was involved.

Usually in parricide cases, right away neighbors will start lining up to give testimony on behalf of the slain parent(s).

But like almost never, is that really the whole story.

http://www.amazon.com/When-Child-Kills-P…

2/3's of such killings are done by juveniles. But sons who kill their mothers are usually a bit older than sons who kill their fathers.

Most such cases are settled without a jury trial, and so what is know to the authorities never comes to the surface.

In the US, around 300 cases per year, or 2% of the general homicide rate. The perpetrators are always very immature for their age, usually people who have never been in any real trouble before, and who would have a very hard time living on their own. And not people would do well in prison.

Giant flags and pickup trucks? Around here there are people who drive around displaying huge flags, attached to stakes in the sockets in their pickup trucks. But these have always been American flags.

Now, for the first time, I see someone using their pickup truck to display an enormous California flag. Is there some meaning to this?

4 states on the Mexican border? States on the Canadian border? Banks across these borders? Shielding Muslim and Mexican residents? Free crossing zones? Eventually dissolving the United States and replacing it with a United North America?

Looking at BART. It is more for the East Bay, than for San Francisco itself.

So in San Francisco, it runs along Market St.

So MBOT is at O'Farrell and Polk, about 2000' from Market St.

New Century is at Larking and O'Farrell, same distance.

Crazy Horse is on Market St., at Taylor and Turk

North Beach Clubs, like Roaring 20's are at Broadway and Columbus, about 2000' from Market St.

Gold Club is on Howard St and New Montgomery

THis is about 1000' from Market ST, but on the other side. This is the only one reasonably close to the 4th and Townsend Cal Train Station.

South Beach Yacht Club, at 2nd and King / Embarcadero

BART heads off into the transbay tube at the Ferry Building, at the start of Market ST.

So how about the East Bay?

In Richmond you are within 4000' of the yacht harbor

In Pittsburg you are about the same distance.

In Hayward, 1.5 miles of Hayward State

San Leandro Yacht club within 2 miles of San Leandro Bart, just before Hayward

Kibbutz Movement

This is extremely interesting to me.

Reading:
https://www.amazon.com/Creation-Doctor-B…

Bruno Bettelheim had serious limitations and he made completely improper claims. But, this does not mean that everything he said was wrong.

He visited and Israeli Kibbutz in 1964. He did not spend nearly enough time. And he was not reconciled with his own Judaism. Nor was her prepared to deal with Socialism.

Bettelheim was most interested in the separation of children from their mothers. Now today they do much less of this. But as it was, sounds like children would early on be sent to live in the children's home. Their care would be taken on by a Metaplot.

They would visit their parents every afternoon, and then live with them on the weekends.

Now of course this is all a matter of degree, dependent on the details. They can't live their entire life with their mother. So to me it sounds fantastic, because their is redundancy and built in compensation.

Bettelheim was looking at this to repudiate John Bowlby. Bettelheim wanted and example of how to limit the level of neurotic toxic mother love.

But the people who originally set up the Kibbutz system were not talking about it this way, but maybe it still means the same thing. They were looking at an arrangement which would liberate women, reduce the amount of child care work they had to do, so that they could do more of the same types of work the men did.

So children would be cared for, but more in batch mode. I think probably more was expected of children earlier on. I don't think it was like one of those nasty English boarding schools or anything like that. I think they had to take care of each other. Much less bullying than in boarding schools, or even than in our schools.

So these communities were set up in the remote, hard to settle, and dangerous places.

And everyone was in the military.

They served well too.

I've watched lots of videos. It is all interesting. At first some lived in teepees.

They practiced agriculture and construction. Now they do manufacturing. But what is manufactured in a socialist commune will be devoid of panache. It will be utilitarian, like plastics, ammunition, and a huge dairy.

So as the country was established and remote property ownership was ensured and capitalism thrived, the Kibbutzes started to have problems. Menachem Begin came in in 1977, and that was their first conservative government, and attitudes turned completely against Kibbutzes.

I see one woman interviewed, an Engineer in a plastics factory. She says, "I want my baby in my home."

Well, the middle class never would have come into existence if it had not been given a free hand to exploit children. So Israel and it's Kibbutzes are going the same way. Some have privatized, and some even pay wages now.

I still want to learn more about it. Zionism is nothing if not pronatalism. But it sounds like the Kibbutz version was always moderated, and especially considering that it goes back to the beginnings of the 20th Century.

Book: The Crisis of Zionism – 2013

The Crisis of Zionism Paperback – April 2, 2013

by Peter Beinart

In Israel, the deepening occupation of the West Bank is putting Israeli democracy at risk. And in the United States, the refusal of major Jewish organizations to defend democracy in the Jewish state is alienating many young liberal Jews from Zionism itself. In The Crisis of Zionism, Peter Beinart lays out in chilling detail the looming danger to Israeli democracy and the American Jewish establishment's refusal to confront it. And he renders a fascinating, groundbreaking portrait of the two leaders at the center of the crisis: Barack Obama and Benjamin Netanyahu. Beinart offers provocative proposals for how the relationship between American Jews and Israel must change, and an eloquent and moving appeal for American Jews to defend the dream of a democratic Jewish state before it is too late.

"Re-shape the entire topography of the bay area."

City of Santa Clara is building it's own Las Vegas. They aren't presenting it this way, but this is clearly what it is.

Hotel space plus restaurants. They aren't saying bars and they aren't saying casinos, yet, but that is clearly their intent. Once you have this, it will be just like anyplace else where you have an NFL stadium. The NFL runs on gambling, and once you get those cash flows, you get every other kind of vice too.

When you have hang out places, and especially with hotels on top, then the law becomes impossible to enforce.

Oh well, I guess soon I won't need to travel far from home to find places like we talk about here on TUSCL. But for the people who live on Santa Clara's North Side, this will be exactly what they don't want.

No reason this $6.5G project needs to be, just like there was no reason the stadium needed to be.

And then they have some condos. They always present these as the entry way to home ownership. That is what it is really for, propping up single family home prices.

Just like Madison Nguyen's Vietnam Town. That is the way now, retail on the bottom and condos on top. The condos don't seem to interfere with anything, and they are a more stable revenue stream. And they are built to prop up the real estate market. Strange how that works, the law of supply and demand are inverted. You have to pay association fees, and these can go up at any time.

They always present the retail as being very upscale. But upscale retail malls have been going under left and right. The people who have the tenacity to run retail are usually immigrants. Usually they are violating labor laws and the tax code. Often they are violating more than that. People have grandiose ideas about their projects, but often they turn into slums.

People in San Jose were up in arms over the Gold Club, a bikini strip club. Well what Santa Clara is making is all stealth.

Founder, can we add Santa Clara's Northside Vice Zone to the listings? Might as well get ready for it, better lounge hookers than Vegas.

Concerned about this Jennifer Wadsworth article:

http://www.sanjoseinside.com/2016/07/06/…

Never talked with the people from this Grace Baptist Church, but it has always looked well meaning to me.

My concern is with this Karen Addato, who founded Breakthrough Outreach. She sounds like a first class nut.

She is more like a cop than anything else. Or a social services case manager, but on wheels. And I don't know who is funding her.

The only dignity that people who have been made into the family scapegoat and live on the street have, is in their privacy. And so this is what she is committed to breaking down.

And then of herself, two brothers drinking themselves to death. Has she ever considered why they might have done this? No of course not. She has her own ideology of denial. She is a "Devout Christian". So she wants to make other people out on the street, and with drinking problems or whatever, submit. She wants to take away the last shred of dignity which they have, their privacy.

And then there is this Murphy bill coming along, which makes forced psychiatric treatment happen easier. This Karen Addato, she's someone who could enforce involuntary medication. She would like doing that.

Some people seem to think that this is just some minor problem, an over zealous mental health establishment, and the influence of Big Pharma.

I disagree entirely. I see Recovery, Psychotherapy, and Salvation Seeking as being responsible for the subjugation of a large, double digits, percentage of the population.

Capitalism needs this. It needs people it can ritually humiliate, in order to maintain discipline.

Maybe before in the Industrial Age, it needed cheap labor, or slave labor. Now this is no longer necessary. It does not matter if those it humiliates are living in public housing and on welfare and disability money. All that matters is that they lead hopeless lives, are made to submit, and are displayed ritually. And so it uses the middle-class family to generate its untouchable caste.

Failing to report should have landed these doctors in prison. That is the law.

^^^ SJG, what are your thoughts of the recent shortage on law enforcement patrols in San Jose, where they declared an emergency to place detectives to cover the shortfall, hence reducing staff to cover investigations of more serious crimes?

Is San Jose of appropriate size to be able to play that "shell game", or will you find a backlog of hard core criminals getting away with burglaries and drug trafficking?

You find many police officers refusing to do the work of patrol because the compensation doesn't warrant the hazards they endure. Not a lot of succes stories those patrol officers deal with on a routine basis, and I think this police shortage is a direct result of the backlash the liberal media and "black lives" movement has created. The chickens have come home to roost!

How would the organization that you're creating help to aleviate this public safety matter? Would you suggest sending several street walkers out to suck the men dry of all their testosterone hence calming them down enough where they're too spent to commit crimes?

"shortage on law enforcement patrols in San Jose"

This is true. Some deliberate deep cuts to fill a budget hole. And most of the fiscal problems are directly traceable to putting money into re-development to try and change city demographics, spending public money to try and help speculators profit, been going on since about 1980.

And then because of trying to renege on pension contracts, police and fire are pissed, and so there continues to be an exodus. Not good. The candidate who would have reversed this, endorsed by police and fire, Dave Cortese, was defeated in a completely income level and race based election by Sam Liccardo. First thing he then did was fire the City Manager, a guy who had been making good headway in making peace.

This is a problem!

This may also be why the great Vietnamese AMPS have made comeback.

"declared an emergency to place detectives to cover the shortfall"
Well, police get shifted about in their duties as needed. But I don't know anything about any declared emergency. And they do most certainly investigate more serious crimes. San Jose has a low homicide rate and a very high rate of solving them. But the police shortage is serious. And we have also placed way too much emphasis on police only, to reduce crime.

I support the work of:
https://acjusticeproject.org/

They want to reduce the emphasis on law enforcement in dealing with crime. And they want to empower low income people in standing up to police and court excesses.

I don't know anything about any shell game or any hard core criminals running about free. Overall San Jose is a more law abiding and heavily policed place than what gets talked about on TUSCL. Overall very safe for its size of 1 million, or the 10th largest city in the nation.

Police officers refusing to work, never heard of this. The issue is conservative city regimes trying to renege on the pension contract.

This has nothing what so ever to do with any 'liberal media'. There really is not such a thing. Most media just does source journalism, printing what the police tell them. And this has nothing to do with the black lives matter movement. The issue is pensions and foolish use of public funds in past decades to try and gentrify and to line the pockets of real estate speculators. The issues we have with police excesses have usually involved police being completely improper with Hispanics, totally unlawful Disorderly Conduct arrests.

The chickens coming home are the stupidity of neo-liberal regimes in trying to increase private profits and saying that that serves a greater public good.

I really am concerned, I feel that you are just posting back to me things which must have come from some extremely distorted Right Wing media source.

Then as far as my fledgling organization, we will have our own ongoing education and our own leadership in multiple technology industries. Our men and some of the women will be kept busy there. And then all of our men will also be kept busy getting fucked and sucked dry each day by stripper grade hotties, plus sometimes also bedding down with them.

But we don't send our women out to service outside people. And we never get money that way either. As many will have come from Strip Clubs and AMPs, they may still do what they do, but we don't involve ourselves in that, or get any of the money. The ones who live on our premises will have retired from such commercial practices. We don't have anything to do with promoting any form of prostitution, and we never get money from anything like that.

As far as influencing politics though, we certainly won't want to be calming people down. We will be organizing people so that they can make revolution and be effective. Just common crime and violence are not effective.

We will be getting people to totally reject alcohol, drugs, born again christianity, and psychiatric medications, and instead to work with us and start re-educating themselves, and to become politically conscious so they can file lawsuits against past abusers. For people who have had children in order to scapegoat and use them, we will be their worst nightmare, as they will be held accountable. And then the psychiatric system is going to get shredded, and the evangelical churches will be torn to pieces too.

And then as people who reject things like born again christianity and psychiatric medications and the self-reliance ethic are able to politically organize, we will be able to steer the overall politics way to the left, so that probably things come to resemble Sweden or the French Socialist Party.

Crime in the US is simply the result of desperation. Hiring more police does not remedy this. Restructuring society so that is based on a premise of human dignity is what stops crime.

Magia sexualis : sex, magic, and liberation in modern Western esotericism / Hugh B. Urban, 2006

Paraphrasing to simply his close, "perhaps the final lesson we have to learn is this: If there is a "magic" in sex, it may not lie so much in the possibility of generating income, enchanting straying lovers, or bringing spontaneously gifted laptop computers, rather it may lie in the hope of creating a more equal, fair, and free society that benefits men and women of all ethnicities and sexual orientations. Such a hope may well be "magical" in the sense that it is ultimately utopian and never perfectly attainable. But it is no less worthy of fighting for and striving toward.
