I love movies. I usually have no interest in watching or even knowing who wins. I think the hub bub about more diversity is amusing. So will participation trophies be handed out now? Make a better movie with a more compelling plot line and good acting. Stop crying and work harder. Honestly, who really cares if Will Smith attends.

Eh. The Oscars are kind of a joke. Will and Jada Smith haven't exactly had Oscar worthy careers. Spike Lee skipping is a bigger deal.
Tradionally the academy throws a best supporting award to a Black performer every couple of years. The two most arguable omissions this year were Michael B Jordan for Creed and Idris Elba. You can at least make a case for both, but you can also make a case for the nominees.
The Academy on a whole is too old, too white, and too male. But the bigger issue is probably the films that get made vs. The actual Oscars
