The Similarities Between A Hair Cut and A Strip Club ....

So I needed a haircut and my regular Barber was out-of-town on a cruise to Key West. I had a coupon to one of those Men's haircut salons and decided to try it out. The whole experience was almost like being at my favorite strip club.
After waiting for a few minutes, reading a sports magazine, my “stylist” greeted me and escorted me to her chair. We introduce ourselves and couldn't help but notice she had a stripper type name, Cherese. As she cut my hair the conversation was eerily similar to an SC conversation. Is this your first time here? What do you do? Where do you live? What do you do for fun? Do you like football?
The questions got me to looking closely at my stylist Cherese. Underneath her open lab jacket she was wearing a low cut top showing the topside of a nice pair of C-Cups. Her hair was shoulder length and blond with a trendy purple streak on one side. I would guess Cherese to be late twenties. The fingernails were painted black with one gold colored nail on each hand. Her perfume was light and pleasant.
She worked quickly with little eye contact but lots of smiles. Within 5 minutes (two songs?) she was finished and asking me if it (the haircut) was okay.
I paid with cash, throwing in a couple of bucks in for a tip and left smelling sweet.
Anyone else ever noted the similarities between visiting a men's hair salon and a strip club?

BTW: If you haven't read the Strip Club Hound blog you should.

I go to a regular barber shop. A lot of them have women barbers these days. (Maybe I should refer to them as "barberettes.") I prefer that. Especially if they're young and pretty. The one that I go to now dresses like she's going out on a date. When someone is working that close to me, I much prefer it be a woman. There's only a little bit of an intimate feeing with a woman barber. I wouldn't equate it to a strip club, though.

Also, I concur: The Strip Club Hound is a great blog.

I've given thought to going to one of those type of places, as they only got one a mile away from home, but I go to Great Clips, which is somewhat like going to a bad strip club. Most of the women there are not hotties, although if I get lucky, I get this one lady who's cool to talk to. But she isn't always there whenever I have to get one.

I've never been to a "Men's" hair saloon. I went to one that takes both male and female. It took twice as long and cost twice as much as the barber that I have been seeing for 20 years. I can't imagine what a 5 minute hair cut looks like. I don't care what the female hair cutter look like, I'm staying at my barber shop.

I go to SportClips in the Chicago area. The stylists are generally cute and can talk intelligently on local sports. The package I get there includes a cut, shampoo, and shoulder massage. Not as good as a lapdance with FIV, DATY, and DFK, but better than a regular haircut with some creepy guy.

I had a young dental hygienist for a couple of years that was so dang cute that I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. The added benefit was that she was not bashful at all about cuddling my head between her breasts during the cleaning. I was very sorry for her to move to another state and it is the only time in my life that I didn’t mind going to the dentist.

Guess what?

No tip required to leave smiling!

"I go to Great Clips, which is somewhat like going to a bad strip club." Did you really mean like going to a very very bad strip club??? Great Clips is good place, but talent is extremely limited there.

A "bad strip club" is probably not an experience to be treasured. I'm pleased to say my hair place is like a mediocre strip club.

Great Clips - Decent haircut but NO TALENT BEAUTY WISE. The one near here is full of "butch" looks, florescent hair, excessive body art and enough piercings / studs one could play horseshoes.

I know that such might be a turn on for some but it's not my cup of tea.

There used to be a topless barber shop (25 years ago) in Charlotte, NC and I went there once while traveling. The female barber (felt like I needed to stress "female' in this group) was halfway decent and I can't remember if she cut a single hair on my head or not.

I've been going to the same barber for 25 years. I have not let any woman cut my hair since my mom when I was a kid. I guess that makes me an old fart.

Has anybody gotten a haircut ITC – apparently some “upscale” clubs have a barber shop – I’ve personally only seen it at two upscale black clubs – the barber shop thing is kind of a popular black thing.

I went to one of those trendy chain places once. Haircut by a rude 20 something. I prefer my 68 year old Republican barber. He's always good for a Hillary Clinton joke.

My hair cuts get broken down as follows:

1). Hair cuts down by female relatives or friends at their house or mine.

2). Hair cuts down at predominantly Black & Latin barbershops.

Went to barber shops throughout college, couple of times one of the basketball players took me to the predominately black barber shop where a lot of Duke and Chapel Hill players got their hair cuts. Decent cut and an interesting atmosphere.

Now I just use some place that pretends to be trendy but really isn't. They've got a couple of cute ladies working but nothing reminiscent of a strip club.

Just as an experiment I tried one of those places a few years ago just to see how they would treat a girl. I only needed a trim, and my hair is pretty long, so they charged me more because of the length, so it was almost comparable in price to a fancy-schmancy salon. But I went for it and sat there waiting my turn reading a Playboy and nursing a Miller Lite. The "barberettes" weren't phased at all and seemed fascinated that I was willing to try the place. In the end the eye candy was great, the atmosphere was great, but the haircut was overpriced for what they provided so I never went back. But it was a fun experiment to try.

I only get hair cuts from women now in Hair cut businesses. The last time I had a guy cut my hair was before I turned 21 y/o.

Long time ago a city, I think it was Los Angeles, experimented with allowing topless barber shops with women barbers. Also a topless shoe shine. Regular barber shops killed it off with community and political pressures.

I never thought the experience was like a strip club visit. In fact I thought they often did a lousy job and that I could do better in less time. I was right. Now if some waitresses or managers in one strip club noticed how much faster I can walk to the bar and get beer and return back to the table on the other side of the club, they might learn something about customer service. One club has super slow beer or drink service. It takes several songs fora waitress to ask if you want anything except if you leave for the restroom or get a dance in the back. In that case they will come over and clean up your table.

A stripper friend of mine told me I should go to Lady Jane's, which she said was a styling salon for men that had hot babes to do your hair. So I stopped in one day. The "babes" were at best 4's or 5's. I walked out.

^^^ I agree! NOTHING like the women in the TV commercials. All in the Lady Jane's salon I visited once were over 150 lbs and average in looks at best.

@staxwell- so you think that my peeps are better suited to clip away at men's heads rather than those heavy handed str8 girls? Interesting.

Definitely, lopaw. They cut hair just like the male barbers where I'm from. Plus, when I go to the barber shop, we talk about sports & pussy.

There's no barbershop like a black/spanish community barbershop. Chucking jive, talking sports and entertainment and talk of girls without feeling limited due to women present...or just prissy women present. Good times all around. Especially the old timers barbershop. Old men are classic. The white people are so weird in convo sometimes. And no, never seen any drug slinging back in my short hair days. Now I'm in the salon with a bunch of chicks. Not bad especially when the 30 year olds flirt with ya.

I had an old favorite that started cutting hair at a place they did hair cuts in lingerie. She had now started her own shop. She has cut my hair for almost 10 years

Yeah, there was a place in Denver a few years ago that had female barbers in lingerie. I don't know if it is still open or not. I always wondered if just a little bit of sweat and small hairs floating through the air would make for an itchy job for those girls. Never tried it. Now the more that I think about it, the neighbors were complaining about the stylists standing out in the alley and smoking in their lingerie. That's not much different than a strip club.

For a short time in the '70s I got haircuts from a woman who seemed to enjoy pressing her inadequately restrained D+ breasts against my shoulders and arms while cutting my hair. Other than that, I have had old men cutting my hair since I was a kid - until last year.

My last old man barber retired at age 87 and the nearest barber shop was run by two young spinners. So now I get my hair cut by a 30ish sweet young thing who talks about T-ball and what everybody wore to a rock concert. Unfortunately, she does NOT seem interested in earning extra for lap dances!

I'm not generally fond of reviving old topics, but I did finally go to the Sport Clips today. I needed a haircut and I had a $5 coupon. I have to not only agree with the original premise of this topic, I must also say that my stylist was formerly a stripper at one of my regular clubs. The first question I had to ask her was "Have I seen you before?" and she said I probably saw her dance somewhere. She then told me her dancing name and I said I remember her. Dancing was apparently a way to finance cosmetology school. I'll have to go back again.
