Just curious if other tusclers (especially you older horn dogs) discuss your extracurricular sex lives with your doctor? I've been fucking bareback with one dancer for several years and I'm very aware that I'm not the only dick passing those portals, so I've discussed this with my primary care physician and my cardiologist. I get my scrip for Viagra from my middle aged female dr. And I also get tested for std's regularly. She regularly admonishes me, warns me of the dangers, etc, but keeps writing the scrips. What and how do others approach this?

last commentSeattle has one of the best STD clinics in the country, so I go there in preference to my regular doctor. They are supposed to be trained to be non-judgmental no matter what one's "lifestyle" is, but I do remember get one middle aged unattractive woman who must not have gotten the memo. Everyone else there has not uttered a peep - as they are supposed to be trained not to do - we are just another sample point for their statistics to them.

Yes, I do.
I have an excellent relationship with my doctor, a very smart young woman. I 'fessed up to Doc Joanne about my episode of bareback 'slippage' with my Toronto sweetie and received a well-deserved tongue lashing. I followed her directions to the letter re: testing.
Doc Joanne and I talk about my sexual activities during my annual physical and she continues to give me very professional advice about pharmacological assistance. She is very liberal with free samples.
I like Doc Joanne very much.

I get a yearly physical with an STD test and have used 3 different GP's in Raleigh. Other than that I don't consult a Doctor unless it's a serious situation. When they ask during the physical I tell them the truth, I'm sexually active and always use protection unless in a serious relationship.
What else would I need to say? "Doc, got a hummer from stripper the other week."

Um, yes.
You're not very bright are you jestie? Of course the nature of your "non-serious" relations is going to be different if your a guy doing the standard amount of dating/hooking up for your age versus banging strippers. For one, body count is likely to be different as is probability that your "partners" have something. So yeah, don't omit details like that just to save "face".

I've been a blood doner for many decades and am insulted that the Red Cross doesn't want my blood anymore just because I've had sex with someone who charges.

Where's Alucard when you need him
Isn't this a violation of HIPAA

Interesting. I wonder how much of a political issue it is. Are gays allowed to donate? Needless to say they have much higher HIV rates than heterosexuals.

Interestingly, they want to know if you've had homosexual sex, sex with someone who charges money for sex, or if you have had sex with a stranger. They used to ask after you donated and if you answer in the affirmative they would re-purpose the donation from transfusion to research. Now they don't want my platelets because I take an anti-clotting drug and they don't want whole blood cuz my friend is a ho.
They never even asked about small animals.

Does the badness compound? What if you are male and paid a gay male you never met to have sex with you? Are they super-duper-extra-doubly uninterested in your blood in that case? :-)

I've been seeing my Primary care Physician for about 15 years. He has given me free samples of all 3 of the ED meds. 2 Years ago I asked him to include STD checks in my yearly lab work. The only thing he asked was "Do you have any symptoms". The only thing the lab guy taking my blood had to say was "Sign this form that acknowledges that Medicare may not pay for this{HIV}test". However Medicare has paid it both times.

I have a hot doctor (30-something blond surfer chick type) and I hint at my outside activities with her but haven't actually admitted to anything. The last thing i want is any type of lecture about my reckless lifestyle. The fact that she's also my SO's doctor inhibits my sharing too much.

Lopaw - she's prohibited from sharing any personal info on you with your s/o. If she does, a good lawyer will get you her new Maseratti.

@gawker - that's good to know. I still don't think that I want to share too much with her, though. In my case some things are best kept under wraps.

gawker - That is true but lopaw's s/o might wind up with the Maseratti. :)

Once it's in the record, it's in the record. Keep that in mind folks.

Get tested regularly but keep the doctors on a need to know basis. My doctor is a cute Sri Lankan. She looks like that chick from the latest Planet of The Apes movie. And they ask a shit load of private questions when you donate blood. The things you do for a coupon and t-shirt.

@motorhead,
My Doc Joanne is a terrific cook. We swap recipes. She gave me her smashing recipe for French Canadian tortiere. I gave her my recipe for garam masala, a recipe shared with no other person to date.

When I chose a new Doc I realized my physical exams would now include a prostate exam and if anyone is sticking their fingers up my ass, I want it to be a woman, preferably with small hands. My female Chinese Doc weighs about 95 lbs.

lopaw/gawker: Depending on the laws where one lives, the legal status of the relationship and what was in the paperwork one signed at the doctor's office, sometimes such information can, and occasionally must, be shared.

Provincial law requires doctors (and any clinic) to report all instances of STDs to health authorities in Alberta, my home province in Canada.
