- discussion #84915Invalid date@gammanu - you're deluding yourself if you think it's about Russia and China and Islam. Russia believes itself the messenger of the true Christianity via the Orthodox Church (whom Putin has used to keep power). Palestinians (Sunni) and Iranians (Shia) aren't big fans of each other's religions. We supported the mujahideen even knowing about their malignant strain of Islam. These fuckers care about power above all, not religion. That's for the little guy.

- discussion #84946Invalid date@OP - "I even see some with shaved sides of head and tatoos on their faces now." Man, nothing like those (especially the half shaved head) to make me limp as a wet noodle. @Freesample - the apps have made dating and gender relations go to shit, but only partially for what you talked about. Yeah, the top guys get most of the women. I'd consider myself top half but not top 5%, and I still had a vigorous dating life (which I'm taking a break from right now to focus on other shit). Problem is, any woman gets so much attention she starts to think she's Helen of Troy. They demand you CashApp them $50 just to talk to them, or won't go out on a first date to anywhere lower than Capital Grille, or demand you buy them everything they need to get dolled up--makeup, a new outfit, new shoes, meals and babysitting for their kids. Meanwhile they have a face that looks like an unwiped asshole and have 5 kids from 3 different dads. I wasn't scoring every night (nor wanting to) but I was dating high quality women. I like good girls, professionals, nurses, from good families, not mattressbacks. And I was fine with it. I go to clubs for the bad girls. In and out, no connection, no partaking of their fucked up lives.

- discussion #84945Invalid dateVery episodic. Twice a week for a month, then not at all for 6 months. I'm on a nearly year-long hiatus but taking a buddy who's just out of jail clubbing in 3 weeks.
- discussion #84946Invalid dateA lot of what you mentioned is human interaction and sociability dying out. Strip clubs will come and go. Prostitution will endure.
- discussion #84944Invalid dateDepends on the club, depends on the girl. I'm not a big trap fan but too many fond memories of clubbing with one of my best friends in ATL getting dances to Gucci Mane. Just none of the overdone, stereotypical songs.

- discussion #84939Invalid date^ He's an admitted trust fund baby and academic. Figures he knows fuckall about wealth creation. - discussion #84938Invalid dateI'm shocked...shocked, I tell you! Goes to show you, if the mayor and police chief don't get their cut, there's hell to pay.
- discussion #84870Invalid date"You cannot equate anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism." @gammanu - it isn't that anti-Zionism is NECESSARILY anti-Semitic, it's that most of it is. Yeah, Israel needs to stop bulldozing Palestinian settlements in the West Bank, and that won't happen because Bibi is beholden to the far-right (including outright Jewish supremacists) for his coalition). But the Palestinians themselves? One of the most fucked up, detestable cultures on Earth. 3/4 support Hamas and 10/7. They pay the families of martyrs well over the average monthly salary. They reward murders of Israelis, and teach kids language with UN-subsidized textbooks that glorify martyrdom and killing Israelis. And as part of negotiations, they want these criminal cocksuckers released. They have been offered their state, 95% of their land under Arafat before they backed out. If you believe Hamas' casualty figures, you're a first class retard. LOL did you see even the UN's casualty figures mysteriously cut in half? If this were a "genocide" you wouldn't see the Palestinian population growing faster than the Israeli population. The IDF takes great pains to avoid civilian casualties and by independent analysts, are damn good at it; we weren't dropping "door-knockers" in Mosul, for one. If this were a "genocide," Palestine would be radioactive glass and dust. Jew-hating cunt Rashida Tlaib was lying when she said "from the river to the sea" is a cry for coexistence. In Arabic, it's "from the river to the sea, Palestine will be ARAB." Tolerance, my left testicle. I love watching these "queers for Palestine" when they'd get their gender-bending asses tossed off skyscrapers, against the most LGBTQ-tolerant country in the region. Until the Palestinians kick Hamas out, unfuck themselves, and show themselves to act like a civilized people, may they meet the fate of all the enemies of human progress and civilization.
- discussion #84933Invalid dateI think it's less necessary with most of the freakshows gone.
- discussion #84932Invalid dateGross. They almost look like dicks.
- discussion #84915Invalid date@25 - wish I could click a like. I remember at the Charlottesville rally some of the alt right folks said Russia is our friend. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. I don't think they're half the threat China is but I'm sure they're cooperating with them as well as Iran, NK etc
- discussion #84929Invalid dateAmen to all above. We need one simple, easy format There's a reason Google doesn't update their search interface every few weeks.
- discussion #84915Invalid date@Book Guy - you raise an interesting point about the indigenous. I mention it because it's the left's woody for "decolonization" that puts the word on our national consciousness. For me, there is no time worth trying to system restore the world to. Arabs seem to think we need to clock the world back to 1948, that the region was all living in peace like the natives in Avatar. So the one time that matters is NOW. But beyond that is the fact that Palestinians cannot play well in the sandbox with anyone. I'm pro Israel because I'll support the best democracy in that area, but not Jewish so I don't have a dog in the fight. I'd love to see the Palestinians get their own state but only if it just won't be used as a launch pad for more rockets and pogroms. And right now that's what I think it would be.
- discussion #84915Invalid dateLOL. I think you were a few more cuss words from making your nonsense into a point. 1. The UN is a joke, full of corruption and graft. Dubya going into Iraq proved how impotent they are. 2. I don't think you know what a "genocide" is. Since the "nakba," the Palestinian population has grown eightfold, and faster than Israel. 3. Half of history is groups taking over, enslaving, and killing others. Which indigenous get the land? Only the ones the white man killed? Or the natives who killed the natives before them? Somehow only western civilization gets held accountable for historical wrongs. 4. The Jews go back 4,000 years on that land, well before Arabs or Islam. They are the "indigenous" to Israel. 5. Terrorist activities exist because Palestinians pimped themselves out to everyone for terrorist activities (including Iran which hates the Arabs), and their international aid goes to building rockets and terror tunnels. Their culture of death is one of the worst on earth. Israel doesn't want to rule them. According to the most reliable polling, the Palestinians approve of Hamas and 10/7. If they were to un-fuck themselves and act civilized, they would be treated as such. Until then, I shed no tears. 6. They could end Israel's operation right now if they were to release the hostages. But they won't. 7. No, before you knock down a straw man, this doesn't mean I support everything Israel does. The building of settlements in the West Bank has to stop, and it won't as long as Netanyahu needs the far right to form a coalition. That's a problem.

- discussion #84911Invalid dateI don't have one nearby, but I hope it's better than Hooters is for food. Hooters' food is shit, the girls aren't even that hot. Only redeeming value is that they reliably broadcast UFC and WWE.

- discussion #84906Invalid dateWe need a tag team wrestling match...Gammanu and Mate vs Skibum and 25.
- discussion #84907Invalid dateI don't think that study was well designed. "Speed friending" doesn't give real friendships, only a superficial first impression. I have friends with similar tastes and friends with different tastes. Strip clubbing is a different environment, but I've had great dances (though not extras) with girls then passed them along to my friend. Then again, even if hormones are running hot, I know I'm a customer and a girl is only interested in either of us as far as we fill her wallet.

- discussion #84894Invalid dateWhich Venus is this? I remember one during COVID who was cute, tall, brunette, and a bit gothy but she said she was about to move to Seattle. The Brazilian Melissa is a well known ROB but no recent reviewer has reported seeing her in a long time. Tall, black hair, hot, but horrible breast implant scars. One review said she continued upselling in the VIP, another said she gave a $25 topless lap dance then demanded $80(!!!) and raised a ruckus when he refused.
- discussion #84897Invalid dateIs there a reason we can't up or down vote anymore? Or is that going to be restored? @founder - whenever you roll out a big update, it helps to give a summary of what's changed. I like the look but it seems like a lot of functionality is gone.
- discussion #84891Invalid date@gammanu, surprised we haven't heard about it already. I think the rebrand was an attempt to revitalize an organization that's been on the decline for some time. It will go about as well as you think.
- discussion #84889Invalid dateVapid quotes are the midwit's imitation of intelligence and literacy.
- discussion #84880Invalid date@Gammanu nailed it. If Trump were to vanish in a puff of smoke, the principles of MAGA would still be ascendant... focusing on the well being of America rather than its status among nations and international organizations who resent us... economic growth over redistribution... strength abroad with relative non intervention...a leaner government (though Trump didn't go as far with it as I'd have liked)... law and order over democratic chaos and urban blight. Trump is a highly flawed avatar of it. But not the only one. DeSantis, Ramaswamy, Vance, and many others will take the banner forward in 28.
- review #410962Invalid dateGlad one of the regulars here calls out ROBs. Too many of the faithful treat this place like out can do no wrong.
- discussion #84870Invalid dateLol @Bono. I was wondering if he was popping off at the mouth again or if that was a typo. My closest Israeli friend is conservative but hates Bibi. Says Bibi has no principles beyond the acquisition of power. Says Naftali Bennett is his guy. I don't know internal Israeli politics well but I trust his judgment.
- discussion #84855Invalid date^ "You know he’s full of shit when telling us he works 40-60 hours weekly, whenever he blows hours daily each day being our resident foghorn leghorn blowhard." Uh, you trolled 25 and Skibum out of the blue here to start shit...

- discussion #84856Invalid date^ I'm a republican but rounding up and deporting illegals is only slightly less feasible than confiscating guns. Republicans are only for voter suppression of illegals, double voters, and the dead. Even in the supposedly repressive state of Georgia, voting increased after the "suppressive" measures. Minorities can get an ID just like anyone else.
- discussion #84870Invalid dateLOL OP Palestinians there for thousands of years??? Jews were there for 2500 years before Islam existed. Even Yasser Arafat said there is no "Palestinian people," just a bunch of Arabs that are too terrorist for any other Arab country to want. Arabs enjoy more rights in Israel than Jews do in the rest of the Arab world. Hell, most of Israel is Mizrahi Jews forced out of the rest of the Arab world. Anyone who believes Hamas casualty figures is a first class dope. They've been caught smoothing their numbers so badly they claim record numbers of casualties on days no major battles have been fought, and they claim people shuttling fighters and weapons as "civilians." And for anyone who says Israel is committing genocide, why is the Palestinian population 8 times what it was at the time of the "nakba"? If Israel wanted to fuck shit up in Gaza there would be no humanitarian catastrophe because there would be no humans left. Fuck Hamas and its supporters, which are 3/4 of Palestinians.
- discussion #84855Invalid date@25 - I wasn't alive in 1965 but I imagine people weren't talking shit on the internet that they'd never say to someone's face. I wasn't referring to you as I know you've met members in real life.
- discussion #84855Invalid dateTalking tough on the internet is sooooo 1990s. Kind of like these student protesters who talk tough about killing Zionists but if confronted by an off duty IDF soldier, would offer to eat their asshole to avoid the beat down coming.

- discussion #84856Invalid dateOn Noem, remember how the media tore into Romney for putting the dog in a carrier on the roof for a road trip. Actually killing one? That's beyond the pale for a lot of voters. Seriously enough don't have an issue with abortion but kill a dog and that's beyond the pale. VPs don't carry the weight that they used to but his choice of Pence to bring evangelicals into the fold was smart.
- discussion #84856Invalid dateI don't know the electoral vote rules but I'd love DeSantis. His pick of Pence was cagey, the known playboy and cad to assuage the evangelical base. I think he'll go with Tim Scott, the temperamental foil and another way to remind Democrats that blacks, especially black men, are not their property, or Glenn Youngkin, a competent governor who could put Virginia in play.
- discussion #84855Invalid date^ Did those deals come with a jar of Vaseline? The message is that it pays to threaten Jews, and the administration will acquiesce.
- discussion #84855Invalid dateThese clowns are cosplaying at revolutionaries. You see the he/she/they freak who talked about killing Zionists? If he had the courage of his convictions, he'd head to the Middle East and pick up a rifle. Instead, he knows that Hamas themselves would push him off a 10 story building if he acted gay there. Even Ilhan Omar's daughter acted shocked and shaken to find out there are consequences for her actions.

- discussion #84826Invalid date^ lol that sounds like gonorrhea. Ex pitching coach named Dick Pole.
- discussion #84805Invalid date^ Not equivalent. I don't see Christians or Jews saying convert or die, kill those who insult their religion. Before we talk about ancient history, we're not living in medieval England. Funny thing is for all the protesters talk about colonialism and indigenous people, the Jews are the oldest extant people in Israel/Palestine. They were there 2600 years before Islam came into being
- discussion #84826Invalid dateOh and I saw a couple vasectomy surgeons named Dr. Dick Chopp and Dr. Les Wang.
- discussion #84805Invalid dateBut yes, gamma, militant atheistic communism has a bloodied track record than any other in the 20th century.
- discussion #84805Invalid date@25 - forgive me for not memorizing our PMs, particularly after my hiatus and deleting that account. You could insult my mother or sister and I'd just yawn. Really, i don't know your daughter. Grow a thicker skin. That said I apologize, I didn't mean any harm by it other then smacking you for flaming what was an intelligent discussion with a different board member. @gammanu - I'm not lumping in all Muslims, but it wouldn't be honest to deny that Islam has a serious problem in the modern day. Whatever Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Shintoism, Norse paganism did back in the day is only for context. Religion X is as religion X does. I know plenty of Muslims who have adapted to modern American society, lots of doctors she engineers, but I can't be blind to what Muslim immigration has done in Europe, particularly the UK and Sweden. Every minority religion in a Muslim state seems to have a very rough go of it. And they seem to live over the delusion that Palestinians lived in uncontested peace and harmony until the evil Jews came in 1948, which just isn't true.
- discussion #84805Invalid dateOh and @twentyfive, as far as your daughter, I didn't see that as any more than a yo momma joke (man those must have really triggered you as a child). Didn't know you even had one.
- discussion #84805Invalid date"You take a look back on this thread and take note, I didn't bring up that little turd," @twentyfive- you called me stupid based on saying I liked one thing your rival here said. I can be pretty civil when my name is kept out of your mouth. You might want to take a long look in the mirror and see why you, not skibum or gammanu or mate, or me, seems to get into flame wars with everyone else here.
- discussion #84805Invalid date@studme - you have no idea how correct you are. I've known that type so well. With a single digit % of exceptions, like i mentioned, their only demonstrated competency has been pleasing authority figures, who in turn tell them they're humanity's great hope. And for such smart people, they're driven by their feelings not their brains. But what might be even more damaging is that a lot of these kids are trust fund babies for whom daddy's or mommy's money or power has bailed them out of dumb decisions or even jail. They have never faced the consequences of their actions. Like Ilhan Omar whose daughter is just now realizing that her actions at the protest are just not cricket in polite society. Put that together and you get a toxic cauldron of useful idiots for Hamas and Hezbollah to work with. Oh and @gammanu, speaking of people who hate capitalism, is it a surprise that the biggest capitalism hater here, CJKent, is an academic with family money? Go figure...
- discussion #84805Invalid date^ most of what you say, but there is no equivalence in 2024
- discussion #84805Invalid date@gammanu "While you are correct about the history of Islam, there are equal atrocities and horrors in the histories of Christianity and Judaism (the Spanish Inquisition, the scouring and murder of Jesus Christ)." Whatever has happened in the distant past, we live in 2024. I'm not seeing atrocities these days in the same of putting all people under Christian or Jewish rule. I'm not seeing rallies in the west saying "massacre those who insult Buddhism" or "hang those who insult Jesus." It seems like just about every religious conflict in this world involves one religion trying to impose itself on others. One religion that far and away commits the most religiously motivated terrorism. One religion that, once it gets a majority anywhere, tries to squelch the practice of any others. One religion that has spread by force more than any other in the last 1500 years. What religion is that? Islam. I agree with most of what you say
- discussion #84805Invalid date"as far as I’m concerned any credibility you give him is just plain stupid." This look familiar? Don't pull me into your arguments if you don't want me to fire back. Is your life that boring that starting shit here is your main hobby?
- discussion #84805Invalid date^ Keep it in PMs then
- discussion #84805Invalid date^ You two need to give in and just suck each other's ballsacks already.
- discussion #84805Invalid date^ You two have fun with your little spat. I'll look at facts.
- discussion #84805Invalid date^ Try dissociating yourself from your little feud and you'll see his point about the Obama administration glossing over Islamic terrorism. That trans shooter in Nashville had a manifesto about killing white privileged kids but somehow I've only heard crickets about hate crimes.
- discussion #84805Invalid date@25 - gammanu actually had some good points in there, about how Obama administration downplayed some major Islamic terrorism incidents as "workplace violence" or "gun violence." We saw the feds do that at the Christian school shot up by a trans shooter in Nashville. All of sudden they don't release the manifesto??? If that's an anti black shooter that manifesto goes everywhere before the blood dries. @ilbbaicnl - "dishonorable policing" is way the fuck overstated as a threat. An unarmed young black male is several orders of magnitude more likely to be killed by another young black male than a cop. @ikmowbetter - agree, I have plenty of Muslim friends, I do service with local Muslims regularly, but they still can't comprehend why many are afraid of them. But any observer can see widespread problems within Muslim societies that aren't in others. The Muslim world seems like a uniquely shitty place in the world to be female or LGBTQ, less tolerant of other religions than others (seems like most major religious conflicts in the world involve Islam on at least one side, usually forcing its norms on others), the only religion whose people become, glorify, and even subsidize suicide bombers. The Palestinian culture might be the worst of the worst. Call me a reactionary pig but I don't believe all cultures have equal worth. People yes, cultures no. Was the 1940s American culture equal to that of Nazi Germany or Stalin's Russia or Imperial Japan's? Why is 23% of the world's population Muslim but has had only 12 Nobel laureates, but 0.2% of the world's population is Jewish and has 193 Nobel laureates? Anyone can look at the post I'm responding to and see the full sentence. "When, from watching Fox News (and apparently little else) you think you know better than a kid's parents and doctor, that's a very sad and sick dream world." > HAHAHAHAHA that's a fucking howler, man. For one, I don't watch Fox News, or any TV news period. For another, if you followed the issue, you'd see it was a social contagion that happens in clusters, and that retrograde conservative UK and Finland are realizing fostering kids' gender confusion and chemically sterilizing them was a horrible idea. That these kids are as mentally fucked up (depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, autism, ADHD) after getting mutilated than before. > If someone wanted to cut off their legs because they felt like an amputee (look up apotemnophila) or their eyes because they wanted to be blind (yes it happens), we'd properly look at them like they had a dick growing out of their forehead. Yet if we don't want to cut off penises, testicles, and breasts, we're bigots. > It's "affirming" to give an anorexic a gastric bypass; it also doesn't make it ethical. "Some of the kids will have regrets as adults. Bound to happen, whether the treatment is allowed or blocked." > "First, do no harm" ring a bell? "Does Trump have the Proud Boys on standby to unify us all?" > Who is digging their fingers into racial wounds, and telling black people they have a right to reparations from anyone else, due to what happened 160 years ago? (Coates, Kendi, and the left) Who is telling people that black people who don't toe their party line aren't truly black? (Joe Biden, Ayanna Presley, among others) Who called trans rights the civil rights issue of our day, despite the Dems not acknowledging their existence until a few years ago? (Biden) Who believes America is a fundamentally evil place that needs to be transformed? (The left). Who believes we are racist if we don't allow illegal immigrants, including gangsters, criminals, and terrorists? (The left). There is no honestly equating a few bad actors to that. "Now they have blind faith Trump can lower prices and interest rates. Maybe the second time's the charm." > No one with any economic knowledge thinks Trump will lower prices or interest rates. We just want it to stop getting worse. Trump wasn't particularly effective in enacting his agenda, and is likely to be less so in his second term, as second term presidents tend to be. I would have preferred someone like DeSantis who doesn't have charisma but gets things done.
- discussion #84738Invalid date"@PT so you support Trump, just none of his policies?" No, I've given many examples of policies I've disagreed with, but I agree with more than I disagree with. In an ordinary election cycle like 2016 or 2020 I wouldn't (and didn't) vote for him, because he's a narcissistic asshole. This year, the Dems have become so odious that I'll happily vote for Trump, even in a state where it doesn't matter. "Trump's "Remain In Mexico" policy was questionably legal." How so? Border security is not negotiable. Numerous agents have come out and said how low the morale is, how Dems have accused them of whipping migrants and tied their hands. Oh and please don't pretend that "bill to increase resources for border security" was anything other than a campaign stunt to try (and fail) to take the issue away from Republicans. It would have given legal blessing to current levels of immigration. It says something that Americans STILL prefer Trump on the border by a commanding margin. "I leave it to you to decide who would be the best President in your dream world." I guess my "dream world" is one where the American people aren't getting divided and played against each other, inflation stays at 2% or below, we aren't getting constantly tested abroad, mentally ill children aren't getting chemically and surgically fucked up, we aren't letting in massive numbers of unvetted illegals, and the Democratic party isn't embracing street crime and prosecuting lawful self-defense. Based on Biden's approval rating, America wants that "dream world" too. If anyone other than Trump were running, they'd wipe the floor with Biden.
- discussion #84738Invalid date@ron, thank you for taking a more measured tone. Biden’s rescue plan made inflation worse but the economy better | https://www.washingtonpost.com/us-p… > I would argue that there is no way to "make inflation worse but the economy better." If he's talking about GDP, that's not a stat that matters to the average American. It and unemployment do not filter down, particularly to the lower classes, the same way as inflation and wages do. That's what they care about. The rest is the administration whinging that those goddamn poors don't appreciate their betters. What's odd to me is that you see only the American Rescue Plan, when the reality is there were several large COVID aid packages, most of them under Trump (whom you do not seem hold to account in the slightest.) > Number one, the timing. It's a straight-up hockey stick. Number two, regardless of who actually "caused" inflation, there is better justification for Trump's spending than Biden's. The heart of COVID was extremely deflationary. If we didn't spend then, the shit might have really hit the fan. Once we had Trump's spending in place, why did Biden add to it? Particularly for something as unrelated to economic recovery as green tax credits, which largely accrue to the upper class that can actually afford that new Tesla? So yes, that's why I hammer Biden a lot harder than Trump on inflation, even if Trump spent more and contributed to inflation himself. My personal opinion is that there was probably *some amount* of COVID aid and stimulus deficit spending was necessary, even if it meant paying the inflation price later. I think we overshot the mark, but fortunately not as bad as many of our international friends (where inflation has been worse). > It's true that we aren't as bad as a lot of other countries, but just because someone fucked up worse, doesn't mean you didn't. I think some of the spending was particularly odious, especially the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), whose loan forgiveness provisions made it effectively a cash transfer to business owners/shareholders. > Agree. The money train disproportionately accrues towards the rich and well-connected. That seems to be a theme of most government spending, the poor take it up the tailpipe. You talked earlier about the wealthy paying their fare share, the PPP was basically just giving the wealthy money. But this was legislation signed by Trump, not Biden. > I don't agree with everything Trump did. He fucked up a lot of things related to COVID. I said earlier I didn't like his tax cuts. I'm duly afraid of the national debt in a rising interest rate environment, and after the last inflation readings, I'm only more paranoid. > And I should mention I hate the term "fair share." Fuck, Ron, I hate the word "fair" in general, which is one of the great loser words of the English language. Fair according to whom? Bernie Sanders, and his fans who keep inventing a right to other people's money and labor? The extreme libertarians who think the only fair tax amount is zero? My definition of "fair" is enough to balance the budget for a government that fulfills its necessary functions, and not more than that.
- discussion #84738Invalid date@ilbbaicnl, It's hard to see Trump as a mastermind behind a concerted effort to overthrow the country when the effort that actually occurred was comical. Did you see those clowns? Taking selfies, stealing podiums? He would have to be a thousand times as incompetent as rallying those "insurrectionists" as backing up the Keystone Kops Capitol Police. None of that says he ever intended to endanger American democracy, particularly not with the prodigious resources Trump had at his command (both public and from his own cash). Where I do see the pattern is in the numerous "get Trump" lawsuits out there, including DAs actively campaigning on getting Trump, crime to be named later. THAT is a bigger threat to democracy than one asshole, even as big of one as Trump. I thought I said this elsewhere on the thread, but I'll repeat myself...I never said we wanted to roll prices back to 2020. I agree that creates greater problems. But how far back can we assign blame? How delayed is the impact? The years and years of zero interest rates might have some blame, but why wouldn't they take effect for 5 years? (Recall rates were getting ratcheted up under Trump--which makes that growth even more impressive!) I thought we kept interest rates low for too long, and did not like Trump's tax cuts (which are also inflationary) but neither Obama nor Trump were so beset by inflation. Why would that powder keg suddenly go off in 2021? Moreover, why did the timing coincide so well with the American Rescue Plan, giving more money to chase fewer goods due to the supply chain crisis? The Biden administration clowns itself whenever it tries to rationalize it...first it's transitory, then it's no big deal, then it's Putin's fault, then it's actually a good thing...I've lost count of their shitass excuses. It's everything except them, when they've enacted inflationary policies left and right. I'm not buying the "voter suppression" line. It's 99% anecdotes, and in fact the states where it's being claimed (like Georgia), we're actually seeing MORE turnout than in the past. Gerrymandering is a state thing, not a Trump thing, and happens in each state where one party holds primacy. It's gone back centuries. It was Bill Gates more than Bill Clinton that generated the late-90s boom. Clinton balanced the budget with Gingrich and got a lot done, but more than anything was in the right place at the right time. Trump "finding votes," well, didn't Al Gore try to do that? Or Jesse Jackson claiming the Ohio 2004 vote was fraudulent? Other than making a lot more stink, I don't see what he has done as so far out of the mean. Not to mention we had one Trump term that didn't end in a cataclysm. I'm yet to meet a single swing voter that believes Trump will install himself as dictator for life. Only partisan Dems. The key points with illegal immigration are: 1. It's not a major cause of crime statistically. > Didn't say it was, it's down the list for my concerns about illegal immigration, but like the left loves to say about guns, "if it saves one life..." What about those raped, robbed, or killed by coyotes? They're victims too. 2. Only a very small percentage of illegal immigrants commit welfare fraud. > I didn't say that. But it's more than "welfare fraud," it's the strain on school systems, healthcare systems, and more. A lot of these areas are already strained 3. They're doing what most people would do in their situation (if they had as much balls). > That's a "them" problem. America doesn't have the resources, nor the duty, to take on the world's poor. Being coached to make a false asylum claim does not make them asylees. 4. Trying to make it nearly impossible to sneak across the border fails any serious cost-benefit analysis. > Straw man. We had a tight border under Trump without a wall. Then Biden takes office and literally the month he takes office, undoing Trump policies, the number of migrants explodes. They say "the border is closed" when they could go back to Trump policies and stem the flow tomorrow. They talk about "root causes" as if we're going to fix Haiti, El Salvador, Honduras, and Venezuela. No Democrat explanation of the current border situation passes the laugh test. 5. Expedited mass deportation of illegal immigrants could cause the worst economic crisis we've seen since the 30s. > Again, something I never said; rounding up illegal immigrants is impossible. But not as hard as the Dem wet dream of going door to door confiscating American guns. ;-) Based on the results gotten, we'll can decide how much deporting we should do, and how many illegal immigrants need to be converted into legal guest workers. > I wouldn't be against a measured, well-run, guest worker program. 6. Do you want me to lose the will to live? That's what will happen if my Cuban favs who are waiting for their asylum hearing get deported. > Yeah, you'll need to find an entitled AWFL (affluent white female liberal) to take her place. Sorry, some of us just want to watch the world burn...

- discussion #84738Invalid date@ilbbaicnl "Yes, my point was, people who are truly falling through the cracks are the crisis." That's your opinion. Homelessness doesn't affect as many as inflation, and homelessness is more attributable to untreated mental illness than poverty. Reopening mental hospitals would do a lot more for that than more Biden green legislation. Inflation hurts everyone, but moreso the working class and people on fixed income. It's not about people "not spending their money wisely," it's food and gas prices going through the roof. The working class doesn't give a shit about the stock market--they don't own stock and can't afford to contribute to their 401k. "Trump sought to set aside the election results, not find actual counting errors and correct them." Yes, and I didn't like that. But fact was, the 1/6 rioters were idiots dressed up in costumes, not tactical teams. It's hard to say he intended that to overthrow the government. All this sounds like extreme Trump Derangement Syndrome from people struggling to whitewash Biden's record. But more than anything, the reason the "Trump = dictator" brainbug fails is because Trump willingly left office on January 20, 2021. Typically, presidents accomplish much less in their second term than their first--I don't anticipate Biden or Trump will accomplish much--but Trump isn't shredding America into special interest groups, black vs white, male vs female, LGBTQ vs straight, and telling them they're oppressed by the other and entitled to recompense. Race relations plummeted when BLM took the scene and prominent leftist politicians embraced them. They made a pretty penny off of them. Similarly, once gay marriage stopped being controversial (Obergefell or not, most conservatives truly don't give a shit anymore), Democrats discovered trans rights as their next great civil rights cause. Biden called it the cause of the generation, when anyone with open eyes sees it's a social contagion that occurs in clusters, and most often in severely mentally ill children and teens uncomfortable with their bodies. Even liberal UK and Finland are admitting transing kids is child abuse. We can take narcissists. Shit, the higher you go on the political mountain, the more narcissistic it gets, even Trump is an extreme example. We can't take everyone in America at each other's throats. I could go on about Dems' love of censorship, America-haters lining up behind the left, and weakness abroad, but that's outside the scope of this discussion. If Trump loses, it'll be because of abortion (and I'm pro-choice so don't go there), not because anyone was afraid of a Trump dictatorship. "The majority of illegal immigrants are unskilled or semi-skilled." And there we have two traditionally liberal constituencies placed against each other. Bernie Sanders called open borders a Koch Brothers scheme to depress wages, before the left suddenly decided any restrictions were racist. Labor markets are supply and demand too. Excess of labor supply depresses wages. If we sealed the border, American businesses would be forced to pay more to employ Americans. Goods would get more expensive but that's a tradeoff. As far as immigration, I'm more concerned about the bad seeds we're letting in. Gangsters from El Salvador. Thugs from Venezuela, explicitly released by the Maduro regime and sent towards America, admitted terrorists from the Middle East. Thanks to Biden's complete refusal to control the border, we're inviting 9/11s and 10/7s left and right. Give me an egomaniacal asshole over any of that.
- discussion #84738Invalid date@ronjax Deficit spending spurring inflation is basic macroeconomics. It's not a 1:1 correlation but it's there. Deficit spending during a supply disruption, double so. The definition of inflation is too much money chasing too few goods. The absolute wrong thing to do was to spend into it. The fact that it was throwing more money after the Dems' green wish list says it was a pretext to spend. The methane taxes will spike energy prices too, which affect anything transported. I know the stat bureaus love to play games about eliminating food and gas on inflation measures, but as long as you eat or drive or heat your house, it will affect you. Not only that, but the green energy subsidies go to the upper classes, which coincidentally are the only groups who give a shit about climate change. It's so far down the priority lists of the average Americans it'll gobsmack you. "The only people blaming Biden for high inflation are right wing media." False. David Lynch of the Washington Post (right wing media my left nut) says 3-4% of inflation (in 2022) was directly attributable to Biden's American Rescue Plan. You're also using weasel words like "every reliable economist." Certainly you can give some names. It's liberal darling Keynes who says you deficit spend during deflationary periods (like the heart of the pandemic) and pull back during inflationary periods (like after it's under control). I'd suggest you get your facts straight before you come in so hot at me.
