I always thought it was silly. Then my ATF called me "daddy" with a look in her eye. Not gonna lie, it sent a tingle through all of me.

Here in Florida the most common name the girls call me is Papi, doesn’t mean much to me, it’s the equivalent of me calling them babe.

Yeah that's some weird shit. I don't recall a stripper ever saying that to me, but it would be a turn-off. Papi I've heard a few times. Latinos call their kids mami/papi, or mamacita/papacito. Used to be Black men called women mama as a term of endearment. Then there's baby and honey child. Either we're being snowflakes, or we're as fucked up as Freud said we are.

If a dancer calls me "daddy," I don't think they're suggesting anything incestuous.....I consider it a term of mild dom /submissive interaction, which I like.

While I don't particularly care for it, it's really the same thing as any other pet name. Baby, babe, hun, honey, sugar, sweetie, etc. "Daddy" may be in a sort of special category as it's something your kids may call you, but then "honey and sweetie" (and certainly others) are all things you can call both your kids and your spouse, so what's really the difference?

I think it’s more common in AA circles. It’s definitely more common in SW circles. I don’t want a civvie calling me daddy, it’s creepy. I don’t really care what a dancer calls me as long as it’s not too hostile.

Anyway, like others have said it's pretty common and pretty much goes in one ear and out the other for me. “Papi” doesn’t bother me, but as the father of daughters, “daddy” is an instant turn off for me.
