This is really funny, but it’s been about 20 years since I’ve been to Anchorage too. 2005 or so I think. And I remember the mileage being low, lol. Hopefully some PLs with more recent experience can chime in

Yeah @HedonistBG, you're right that I missed the boat by a few years on ASS-C and the hey day of strip clubs in the 80s and 90s. I wonder, if I am still mongering in my golden years, what I'll tell people about the scene back in the 20s, lol. Either way, you're right that dancer talent and mileage have an inverse relationship. I find that in the Detroit, this inverse relationship is not as steep as other places in the country.

@wildRover, thanks for the tips. Two follow up questions: > The bouncers at FC keep track of how long you’ve been in the room and I’ve always found them to be very fair and honest. I considered getting management involved, but I hate club drama and Chloe and I settled the dispute on our own. I mean, I did owe her something since we did do a bunch of dances. I'm curious though if I had gotten management or the bouncer involved, would there have been a standard price per song? Like could she have still charged me $40 / song? > I’d also add that Saturday afternoon is probably the worst day talent-wise at FC or any of the Detroit area clubs. Yeah, a dancer mentioned to me that Saturday was usually slow. It's weird, you'd think Saturday would be the most popular day there, at most clubs it normally is. I've been to Flight before on a weekday before and there were definitely more dancers and patrons than this past Saturday. I might make a similar biz trip again in the future... is there really no DTW area club that's good for Saturday dayshift? Doing a Friday meeting and then leaving late on Saturday is much easier for me to swing than taking a weekday off to hit the clubs.

@aham5144, to be clear, the loudness doesn't completely bug me. It makes the club energetic, which I enjoy. And I like that at LS they mix some rock into the playlist too, and you definitely can't be blasting GnR or Motely Crue at half volume. But I also struggle at this place to have conversations, and I think it's louder here than most other clubs I've been too. I have very mild hearing loss from my days as a college DJ. It normally doesn't bug me at all, but I did find myself having mild troubles making conversation at LS with my fellow TUSCLers and also the dancers. Mercifully, it's not as loud in the rooms as it is on the main floor.

Public Service Announcement: Beware "Too Eager" Dancers.
LOL at @iknowbetter. There needs to be a term for this reverse door vulture you speak of: the egregiously hot dancer you only first see on your way out the door. I'm always skeptical of the first lady that approaches. I agree with others that it might be an indicator of ROBish behavior, but also agree with @Dolfan that it doesn't make sense to systematically reject the first dancer to stop by because that's not always true. I usually say something like "I'm just settling in and getting a drink, maybe stop by later?" A ROBy dancer will keep pressuring you for dances, which is a reason to reject them outright. I find most dancers though will do exactly as I've asked and come back later.

Damn, I'm truly jealous of how frequently you're able to visit. My next stop through TJ/SAN probably won't be until late in the summer, I'll let you know when that is, as it would be awesome to grab a drink again. Hopefully you find some other mongers to hang out in April!

Credit Card Fraud - Restaurants/Clubs
I've only had issues with fraud a few times, but always a few dollars extra on the tip, never anything significant. And it's never happened at a SC for me. FWIW, I think SCs are constantly worried about fraud and getting their payment providers yanked, that's why they do things like photocopy your ID. (One SC I was at in FL once had a credit card processor that took your picture when you used it.) In any case, because they don't want to get nixed by Visa, the risk of CC fraud at any given club is low in my opinion. And if it does happen, it's likely going to be a few dollars extra on the tip added by the wait staff, not an enormous fraud. Here's a fun tip though to prevent fraud from happening. Make your tip add up so that the tens of the total match the cents. For example, say I'm paying a drink bill of $65.50. I'd tip exactly $16.31 on this bill so that the total comes out to $81.81. If the bill was $162.40, I'd tip exactly $32.54, for a total of $194.94. If you get in this habit, you can quickly and easily scan your CC statement to look for outliers where your cents don't match your tens: ✅$81.81 ✅$194.94 ✅$65.65 ❌$95.05 Since I've been in the habit of tipping like this, I have spotted plenty of cases where a waiter or waitress keyed in the wrong amount, either intentionally or unintentionally. Usually it's not worth battling over a few bucks, but on at least one occasion, I've successfully initiated a dispute over the waiter padding the tip, just to make a point.

The best SC in Detroit IMHO
Great reviews @londonguy and great to meet you and @jackslash. I need to get around to writing reviews of my visit to LS, and also FC the following day, and when I do, I'm gonna offer the same conclusion you did: LS is definitely the best club in the DTW area. In my opinion, it's cheaper and with arguably equal or better talent compared to FC, and you're less likely to get obscene quotes on room prices. Anyway, glad you got to check out our clubs across the pond, and I'm glad you final night worked out so well. Thanks for the reviews.

Dancers Leaving The Clubs For Sugar Daddy Benefactors
@squaredcastle, I feel for your loss of your two favorite dopamine dealers. One thing about this biz is that strippers are always coming and going for various reasons. I think it's just an unlikely coincidence that you have two favs who left for the same reason. I'm skeptical that this is a broader trend. The reason I think this is because SBs generally don't make the same kind of money that strippers do. I'm not a part of the sugar scene though I am curious about it. One thing that surprises me is how low PPM or allowances are for SBs. Take a look at this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/sugarlifestyleforum/comments/17a2wja/20232024_allowance_master_thread/ A lot of SBs are taking $500 for PPMs or have allowances in the $1k-2k range. And what's more, the income is inconsistent as not all SRs last. Even if your two favs found "whales" that are providing much higher allowances or PPMs, the whale can always grow tired of the relationship, and finding a new whale is difficult. So, maybe your favs will be back? Either way, I don't think this is a big trend to fear, you just personally got unlucky here and took a bad beat. Take comfort in the fact that hunting for new favs is part of the fun of the hobby!

Flight Club off bucket list
I hope you have a better experience at LS. Personally, I prefer it to FC. It is kind of crazy how little effort FC dancers put into the stage dances. They'll make a little better effort at LS. Plus at LS, every hour there's a stage review where all the ladies take laps of the stage topless, this is great for figuring out who you want to tip and ask for privates.

I thought North Korea ceded territory in that war though? I could be mistaken. Also, I think that technically, that war has not ended, right? So, one can still hold out hope that the DPRK collapses, Korea is unified, and capitalism prevails over communism.

Ben Franklin though is the patron founding father of strippers. Anyway, interesting factoid about the War of 1812, thanks OP. I do know that the War of 1812 was one of the few we've fought where the outcome was the status quo antebellum. I think it used to be the only such war, but Afghanistan may now also be in that boat, sadly.

Cheetah rocks
Good review. (Though, some info on prices would be useful on the 30 min room.) > I really need to learn more Spanish so I can communicate more easily with the dancers here. I wrote an article, "A Monger's Guide to Spanish in Tijuana" which might be useful for communicating with the Cubanas at a spot like Cheetah's. I'm thinking of publishing a version 2 of this article with a broader focus than just TJ. Let me know if there are any phrases or topics that you think would be worth covering in that version 2.

Why is it so hard ?
I don't think it's that complicated. In the US prostitution is illegal in most places. It's legal in places like Mexico and Germany. A legal market means more fluid competition and downward pressure on prices.

I had this idea on my way home from my last TJ trip that next time, I would try to institute an "only 8s or lower" policy. The idea being to get better service by avoiding the most popular girls. This review makes me think it would be a really good idea.

Cascadas Amenities / Outside Deck or Patio
CJ, I'm not sure if you're correct that smoking in a hotel room is not permitted. At my recent stay at Cascadas, I stayed in the penthouse executive suite, just as OP is doing. That room had an ashtray in it, so I'm pretty sure I could've smoked in the room?

There's a smoking area at HK but from my recollection only seeing it briefly, it's not the kind of place you would actually enjoy a cigar. Chicago club, I've read, just added a pretty nice smoking patio, but I haven't seen it personally. What I'd recommend is that you go across the street to the 2nd floor outdoor patio at Hotel Rizo de Oro. It's got a great view of HKGC and the chaos of Calle Coahuila and it's a great spot to enjoy a drink, or I would think, certainly a cigar. Also, I just stayed in the PES. It was a good choice. It was well appointed and it's main virtue was being tucked away in the back corner of the 7th floor where there was less noise.

The 21+ law already in Texas may be coming to Florida
@nicespice hit the nail on the head here: > Alas, a lot of anti-“human trafficking” is just the rebranded way of hating regular ol’ prostitution. Not to say that trafficking isn’t a thing, but I side eye that term by default. Pull back the covers on any group funding "anti human trafficking" legislation and you'll find some right wing religious group, for certain. These are the same people getting pornhub shut down in certain states. There's a fascinating documentary "Money Shot: The Pornhub Story" on Netflix right now, and one of the things it gets into is that all the groups trying to ban content ostensibly to prevent trafficking and exploitation of minors are just fundamentalist religious groups who are anti-sex work in general. With that said, I'm not 100% opposed to women needing to be 21 to work as dancers. But I don't think this is going to do jack shit to prevent any kind of trafficking. And I guarantee you, if we were to look at who lobbied for this bill, it's going to be some shitty group like Focus on Family or something similar, some organization that opposes all sex work in general.

LA to Tijuana
I've never taken it, but there's a train that runs from LA to San Diego. Takes about 3 hours and the cost is around $70 one way. More info here: https://www.amtrak.com/pacific-surfliner-train > And is it worth going there just for 1 day? Yes, for sure. It will be one of the best days of your life, lol. > If so - I assume Hong Kong is the place to go, is that correct?? HK is more expensive than other clubs, but there's a much better selection of chicas there than other spots. I've heard this likened to buying a CostCo brand like Kirkwood. Chicago club is the Kirkwood. It's cheaper, and if you don't care if you wind up with a chica who is a 7 instead of an 8, 9, or 10, you'll save money there. If you do care about trying to find an wildly attractive 9, or maybe even the perfect dime, HK provides the better value.

How can you tell if a review is AI generated?
Yep @Manuallabore, you're right, the grammar on the AI generated reviews is TOO perfect. Most reviews carry at least some kind of awkward language or grammatical errors. That said, I don't think reviewers should be rejecting for perfect grammar. My point here is exactly as you state: "Uninformative" is the problem with AI generated reviews. These AI generated reviews say a lot while providing little information of value. Reviewers should reject all reviews that don't provide useful information, I think it's irrelevant whether one thinks it's AI or not.

As of today, guy beers at Hong Kong are $6
I agree with folks that this is a trivial price increase, even if you are drinking a lot of beers yourself. Even if you have 10 beers in a night, this change will cost you $10, not the end of the world. The problem is, it comes in conjunction with numerous other price increases which do real damage. My biggest gripes are the damn $33 wine ficha, and probably most important, the inconsistent and skyrocketing bar fines. I'm a fan of the 2 hour arriba, but the bar fine on that, $110 if you're lucky but they might try to charge as much as $220, makes the 2 hour arriba almost prohibitively expensive. Because you've got to pay the chica too, that 2nd hour ends up being exceedingly expensive, much more than the first hour, which gives me great pause on doing arribas over an hour. Note that only 18 months ago, the barfine for a 2 hour arriba was only $50.
