    The Debate
Waltz's response when asked why he said he was in 1989 at Tiananmen Square when he was in Nebraska was a mess of an answer. His Stolen Valor narrative for many years was not challenged here. Some points in this debate that really frustrated me with JDV's responses: 1) Trump does not and never has accepted "Project 2025", JDV didn't counter with "Show us all where Trump endorses it." 2) The Senate Immigration Bill would hire more Border Patrol Agents however they'd be reduced to Travel Agents, it allows 2M to enter, nothing about mass deportation of criminals/gangs, nothing about real/physical North and South border security, and Migration Air would continue unfettered and not part of the 2M and did their best to hide it. JDV needed to bring up that HR2 was shelved 20 months ago by Schumer who never even brought it to the floor for a vote let alone a debate or compromise. Harris/Biden sold off all unused Wall material for pennies on the Dollar. 3) Biden killed on Day One the Keystone XL Pipeline and fired 1,000s of good paying jobs that included union workers. 4) he should have said "IRS data shows the Trump Tax cuts helped the Middle and Lower Class more than it did the Upper Income Class. Upper Income, 1%, increased their "share" of over-income tax collected from 45% to 47%." When you raise taxes on corporations, they pass it on to the end consumer and they find lower tax countries to manufacture their products. 5) He need to mention that Biden sold some of our Strategic Oil Reserves to China. https://www.forbes.com/sites/daneberhart/2023/01/21/bidens-spr-drawdown-big-win-for-beijing/ 6) Manufacturing has been slowing 22 out of the past 24 months. 7) Jobs for the past year were revised down 818,000 - that's a big "oppsie." Jobs are primarily recovery jobs from 2020, not new, numbers are just a tad above 2019 numbers. Many new jobs are part-time. Immigrant employment is up close to 2M and American citizen employment is down about 2M. 8) ACA/Obamacare didn't lower costs by $2,000 nor could many keep their doctors. That was the pitch. MIT Economist/Obamacare Architect Professor Jonathan Gruber, said they had to rely on the lack of transparency and the "stupidity of voters": "The basic point is that the more you can keep people from understanding what’s going on, the more you can keep the subsidies and the taxes hidden, the more you can get people to support the legislation."

Will the Harris increase on capital gains tax be based on salary income or total
"Inflation Reduction Act" aka Green New Deal $1.8T. This had nothing to do with reducing inflations. "Student Loan Forgiveness" $500B - people took loans for shitty degrees that can't be monetized and now don't want to pay them back, they expect taxpayers to. Gov't should not be involved with student loans.

BTW, if Harris is elected, taxes are going up across the board. The Trump Tax Cuts are up next year (or 2026) to expire. Dems never saw a tax they didn't like. And while the mantra is "no tax increases on those making $400K or less" is bullshit - it's way more complex than that and all will go up either directly or indirectly. Companies pass on cost of goods sold to end consumers. The top 1% income earners federal income taxes paid rose from 42% in 2020 to 456% in 2021; this was due to the Trump tax cuts that actually benefited the Middle/Lower Classes more. The top 50% of all taxpayers paid 97.7% of all federal income taxes, while the bottom 50% paid 2.3%. https://taxfoundation.org/data/all/federal/latest-federal-income-tax-data-2024/ Reducing Corporate Taxes to 15% for companies that repatriate to the USA will actually increase employment, lower their cost of goods sold unless things like increased energy, wages, inflation cost light-up that have nothing to do with tax rates. Companies that make their stuff offshore will be at 21%. That a pretty big incentive nut for repatriation, just know it takes several years to come back with construction and so on.

I was going to ask my CPA today, timely, as we are nearing the end of the year. I did inherit some stock, brokerage, not IRA. Is my ownership price based on the day it was bought or when I inherited it? If a Stock was bought 2 years ago at $50, I inherited it at a price today at $150 and I sell it, am I taxed as a Long Term Gain for $100 or does it reset to $150 for me as my cost basis?

"In today's world if you have enough cash to enjoy life, you have a moral obligation to tip decently." Moral Obligation? Tips are for good service, not virtue signaling. Originally, a tip at a restaurant, "to ensure promptness" was started back in Europe in like the1600s. It was about a reward for good service. The server had to work for it, not just show up to do their job. And sure, wages at restaurants and bars seriously depended on tips. This whole tipping thing is out of control. There was a place for a tip at a Firehouse Subs I went to last week. All he had to was take my money and make the sandwich as ordered. THAT does not mean he gets a tip for doing his job. I did round-up to the Fire Fighters Fund that Firehouse Subs is know for, that's different. I'll drop a good tip if I think it is worthy, not out of "moral obligation". When I traveled a lot, at airports when I saw military at a food court place, I'd ask to speak to the manager, give him/her $50 and tell them to pay for the service person(s) in line. Food at airports is ridiculously expensive. On a trip back from Germany, my last connection was ORD-COS, and I was in First Class on the last segment as there was no Business Class as I had on the others 2. I saw a soldier get on, and I told the flight attendant I wanted to trade seats. He turned it down. I did that for thanks for being a soldier.

How about this for a conspiracy theory?
@ggofv - One reason for SCOTUS not being term-limited is to help prevent them becoming too political as they don't need to be focused on how to get re-affirmed. And yes, they can be Impeached, removed and replaced. Adding more doesn't help - look at the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals with 29 Judges and is frequently over-turned by the SCOTUS like high 70%. We really need Constitutionalists, not "Conservatives" or "Progressives", that push back on Congress to do their job without shitty laws and crappy opinions from lower courts. And, this current WH just feels like this can ignore 9-0 decisions with no consequences - that Authoritarian and this WU is guilty as sin, We've had quite a few 9-0 decisions the past 4 years, yet, when we get 6-3 or 5-4 decisions, the Dems squeal like little piggies. When "Conservative" SCJs side with the "Liberals", they say nothing. The SCOTUS has had more Liberals for a long time, until the past 4 years. Keep it at 9. Example: Obama said he'd codify Roe, and never did. He avoided spending political capital as he had something in-place that Congress should have taken care of. SCJ RBG even said Roe was not good legislation, and Dem states had abortion laws that exceed the 1st Trimester as Roe specified unless it was to save the "birthing person" (just to be politically correct for the Lefties here). So, why not clean it up with a Congressional Act? I'm not trying to stir up an abortion thing here, just an example were Congress fucked-up when they had a solid Dem Major and POTUS. It shows how much Congress depends on the Judicial Branch and bureaucrats, "Deep State", to manage the country so they can get re-elected every 2/6 years and line their pockets.

Fox News - AOC's 'red light' district overrun with prostitutes
"so you're saying the AOC is somehow stopping the NYPD from making arrests in her district? Wha?" I never said she is "stopping the NYPD". She has plenty of local Progressives doing that for her, She is doing NOTHING to help clean-up her district, nothing, she is letting it rot as people vote for her so why change? "Times Square changed because NYC voters voted for that, as far as I know." People voted for Giuliani for Mayor as he was the Federal Attorney for the SDNY. In the mid-1980s he ran the "MAFIA Commission" to crush the Five Families. Voters liked that and he ran in '93 and lost to Dinkins by a tight margin of less than 50K. NYC devolution slowed a tad under Dinkins yet was still bad. Rudy was elected in '97 by a margin of 50K and he ran on a liberal plank, and he cracked down on crime with his "Stop-and-Frisk & Broken Windows" approach to crime. When he focused on cleaning up Times Square, he faced heavy resistance from city gov't collecting their payola, call it NYC's Deep State. People here in TUSCL who lived there back then would know a lot more than me as I had moved 10 years ago out of NY in 1983 to Colorado. @WLD4TATAS: Entertainment in NYC is expensive, really expensive. Period. There are like over 8M living in the NYC Boroughs, 75% of crime is done by illegals, a lot of crime is never reported or recorded and a lot is downgraded and dismissed, then no bond. No one has disputed this number: https://nypost.com/2024/09/02/us-news/migrants-flooding-nycs-justice-system-making-up-75-of-arrests-in-midtown-as-pathetic-sanctuary-city-laws-handcuff-cops/ One problem with crime reporting to the FBI is it so complex now local authorities don't bother. Murder rates and felonies that are reduced to misdemeanors or dismissed from deep Blue cities are not reported. There is a 1950s book used in Stat classes called "How To Lie With Statistics". As Ross Perot said, "We need to look under the hood." Puddy, Muddy, Gammanu95, others and I can list reliable sources to back-up what we say. As for the radical leftists, the Kool-Aid is dug into their deep white matter like an Alabama Tick.

    Biden SUCKS, Kamala BLOWS
    Kamala's Border Speech
In 1986, Reagan made a deal with the Democrats. Sign Amnesty Act and they'd secure the border. CA went Deep Blue and the Border was never secured. They lied. Several times in the mid-2000s, the Senate voted YEA to secure the border, never did - it was all "virtue signaling" for votes. Trump comes along, says he'll secure the Border and then gets stonewalled by Dems and RINOs. The Senate Bill Harris and the Dems talk about is utter BS - it allows 2M in, no border security to stop people, more Border Patrol "Travel Agents", can still fly people in by the 10s of 1,000s and no telling how many Got Aways. Harris/Biden immediately fired construction workers the day he was sworn into office yet the contracts had already been paid to the tune of several million $$$, sold off Wall material for pennies on the Dollar, and now she wants to secure the Border. H.R. 2 was sent to the Senate 18 months ago, and Schumer sat on it, never brought to debate. That was was a quantum better than HR2, yet, it was ignored. She panders for votes from Useful Idiots just like all Dems and RINOs so they can remain in power and control.

    Natural Disasters
@Skibum609: "Feb 1978: The best part? On my street and hundreds of others, the men all grabbed snow shovels started at the end of the street and everyone helped everyone else until the street was done." This was a time when neighbors helped each other and pitched in. I miss that a lot. I grew-up in Syracuse NY - legendary for Winter. I was just a real little kid at the time, had a week off from school - EXCELLENT, except my brother and I had to shovel the driveway, and city plows had no worries at shoving street snow the end of you driveway. To this day, I still see articles about The Blizzard of 1966. A Nor'easter started up the Eastern Seaboard and hit VA and the coast to Maine. It covered as far east as Cleveland, and Syracuse. At the same time a heavy Lake Effect Blizzard headed to Syracuse with record lows to like -25F and 45". And this snow is very wet and heavy, not like Colorado's fluffy stuff I call "amateur" when people complain about 6". All you New Englanders know what I mean. I do miss the Fall colors... Oswego, NY (~60 due north of Syracuse) had 100" over 4 days, wind to like 70MPH, ~200 died. Many froze to death. The mist and waves off Ontario buried cars and houses along the shoreline in very thick ice. This Blizzard was massive even for this region. I lived in Miami for 18 months. I was there for the Cuban Flotilla and Cocaine Cowboys. The scene in "Scareface" at the detention camp under the Interstate, that was real from the Flotilla. A Hurricane was forecasted, as I recall it turned out to be a Cat 1 or 2 and went north of Miami to hit Ft Lauderdale or up a tad more, my apartment never lost power. I remember on local news to knock coconuts, avocados and citrus out of trees. One weather guy said, "Ever see the damage a 90 MPH coconut or avocado pit can do?" Is that real? No idea if this is really a problem or not, however, a 90 MPH coconut would be like a Civil War cannon ball. I have a very close friend in Tallahassee I heard from last night. She lost power, has a Generac, and the roof was not damaged. She said the noise and driving wind was so hard you couldn't play Led Zeppelin or ZZ Top loud enough to drown it out. Her son who is 10 said the storm was cool.

"Easy answer there - because Fox News puts people and $$$ to hunt down these stories, in Democrat-led cities..." And the MSM just doesn't show it, plain and simple. More yada yada yada your lyin' eyes. I mean, news crews for CNN have been robbed WHILE DO A STARY ON THE STREET IN SANFRAN. WLD: Do you get off with this blathering? Here's a good one: Harris wants to build lost-cost housing, like 3.5M of them. No idea where, no idea how to pay for them and now idea who will qualify. What I do know is: 1) The Community Reinvestment Act that Carter created and Clinton doubled down on that caused the 2008 Financial Collapse from "Sub Prime" (junk) mortgages; 2) The Projects in the late-1960s were such a stellar success. Even Bono admitted the only way to help cure poverty is through Capitalism and not Socialism/Welfare/Transfer of Wealth, and he is a HUGE Leftie. https://www.forbes.com/sites/markhendrickson/2013/11/08/u2s-bono-courageously-embraces-capitalism/

^ Adams and Dems: Tigers just eating their young. At least Adams isn't in New Guinea like Biden's uncle, for real. As Muddy said, the Dems are rolling out Lawfare as NY has weakened support for once solid Dems. Hochul is not doing so great. Adams stepped off the Plantation and this is how the Dems deal. NYC is the key to Dems NY stronghold has they have the mass population to control the state. If Adams and his cronies are crooked, no surprise, it's NYC, the home of Tammany Hall, de Blasio whose machine has no idea where $800M went he gave his wife's non-profit, and so on. Had Adams not done what he did, the Dem Machine would allow whatever he is accused of to slide. Look how far Pauli Pelosi the Oracle of San Fran is allowed to trade on Nancy's "crystal ball". And Senator Menendez (D-NJ) was given air cover for a LONG time until it was clear he had to go. "Give me the man and I will give you the case against him." ^ Well then, charge-up Ole Sparky then. Why waste time in a trial. I still just find it really odd, 10-12 year old info pops up now. If he did all this, yeah, it's bad. And yet, all the videos and statements from Harris the past 5 years are all moot, she never got even 1 Delegate, was first to drop out and was put-down by the Dems when Biden said he was going for re-election - then POOF a middle-class chick is qualified to be POTUS. And even worse, her actions that are all swept under the rug "nothing to see here" as the new Mamala Harris is created. Yeah.
