Making the most of quick Manhattan trip
Thank you both! I may need to take an Uber up to Sapphire and check it out. And perhaps FlashDancers, too.

Ever get recognized by a dancer outside of the club?
Around 7 years ago there was a dancer who I got to know a little bit. I could tell she wasn't going to be in the dancing world forever and had some real career aspirations. I even reviewed and helped to give advice on her resume at the time. But years passed, I stopped visiting clubs locally (still on some business trips) and I hadn't spoken to this dancer in many years. One day my wife tells me I'm going to think our daughter's summer camp teacher (daycare staff member) is hot. Oh yeah? I'll be the judge of that. So I pick my daughter up that day and... yep, it was my favorite dancer from years back. I never brought up the past. Thank goodness she never did either. And she became my daughter's favorite teacher for about 2 months. Small world! It added a bit of intrigue to drop off and pickup. That's for sure!

    Pretty Good Night.
Was the aggressive girl at closing time trying to hook up some OTC action? Sounds like you had a lot of fun. Congrats! I was in North Myrtle recently but with family. No clubbing for me.

Favorite from past shows up in awkward place
Yeah, I'm not going to say anything to acknowledge our past. And yes, I know it's odd we didn't really even get into dances back in the day. Maybe it felt like a friendship brewing at the time. I just figured you'd all appreciate the awkwardness.

One of the better places in Manhattan
I'm actually considering a visit next week while traveling to Manhattan for work. So, I do not need to bring my vaccine card with me? Any tips?

    NYC vs Chicago vs Houston
In recent years I've been to Chicago a number of times but it's been a while since NYC and Houston. I'll be visiting all 3 here shortly. @Bharlem, why wouldn't you go to a Manhattan club? Tourist trap prices? Other reasons?

Still waiting to return to clubs?
Thanks for the comments. And I definitely don't want to take this to a political place. I'm fully vaxxed, including booster recently. I've only been on one business trip during the pandemic, so that's part of it. And I am slowly getting to where you are, living with this in our society. Still, at this point, clubbing is just an additional variable I haven't introduced. I do miss it though! Here's to everyone getting back into it when they are comfortable. Looking forward to my next lapdance haha.

    Old Face with a Phatty
If I'm in Philly on a business trip (I will be) and only free in the evenings, is this part of town too rough to visit looking fairly white collar? I don't mind the bar being a bit of a dive. But I'm also not trying to stand out and find trouble.

Career move - What's right for this PL?
All great advice. Thanks everyone. I'm just having some fun with this. I don't get out for a ton of clubbing and I'll of course make a career choice bases on factors that matter most. Appreciate the conversation. Happy Tuesday everyone. (If I could now close the thread, I would haha.)

Career move - What's right for this PL?
Cashman, yes, that is it exactly. I have the opportunity to move from a 40-person business to about 800. I've worked at multi-hundred person companies before and they aren't always the most fun. It can be tough to change traditional processes. But I also have 2 young children and this is an opportunity to bank like $5k more each month. You hate to make a move for money, but it may be just enough to make it worth the experiment.

Rick, what are you favorite clubs in Philly? I've only been there once for a day trip, on a tight schedule.

You are all awesome. Thanks for the various ways of thinking about this. The reality is I like who I work with and I'm passionate about the work. But the last few years have opened my eyes that I don't necessarily believe the owners have the vision to grow the business. We are highly profitable but the leaders aren't rewarded financially. And I'm at a point now after nearly 8 years in this role that maybe it's time to try something new. Option C as mentioned above may be the best choice. But perhaps Option C is something I consider after a year or 2 giving this new opportunity a real shot. The learning opportunity would be substantial. I'm used to running the show for my specific specialty, and this would give me the chance to learn a few new methods. Also, just for everyone's amusement, these are not great strip club cities I'd be visiting. I'd have monthly meetings that take me to NYC, Chicago, and Philadelphia. So, there is that, haha.

Career move - What's right for this PL?
Oh, I won't decide just based on clubbing. I just figured it would make for fun conversation. It's seriously a tough call. Love my current company for a lot of reasons. But also feel a bit stunted in compensation growth. May need to take a risk to make a leap.

Major typo. It pays over $1k per WEEK more than my current role.

    Are breastaurants dead?
Believe it or not, a few years ago Twin Peaks was a client of mine. I work in the advertising world at an agency. Actually secret shopper a few Twin Peaks locations to win the project. Got to fly out to Texas to present to their executives. Pretty fun and funny building campaigns to promote a breastaurant.

Same response as the 1st comment. You got an unexpected, un-asked for reading of the local paper for only 60 and aren't sure if you'll return?

What was the SC scene like back in the day?
I love some of these stories. Thanks for the entertainment everyone! I first experienced clubs while working at a radio station as a summer job. They would sell remotes and broadcast from a strip club once each week over the summer. It was so surreal to watch the whole scene and how the girls did business. I wasn't a customer or an employee of the club. Just sort of a fly on the wall. Years later, I got more involved as a customer while traveling for work. Looking back 15 years later, I've been to clubs all over the US, from NYC to Miami, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, San Diego, etc. Funny quick story... I was in Dallas for a meeting and we got stuck in town an extra night due to snow and ice. The city wasn't prepared for it and so no flights going out. My 2 coworkers and I decided to make the most of it and go find a strip club. But almost no taxi drivers were working, again due to the ice. We found 1 taxi driver up for the mission and actually convinced him to park it and come in and relax with us for an hour or two. We were afraid we wouldn't be able to find a ride back to the hotel, so we kept the ride with us to enjoy the view!

How long will the social distancing rules be adhered to?
It's hard to imagine the strip club scene in most cities fully rebounding anytime soon. Will we have dancers wearing masks giving airdances?

    Biz trip to Boston
I'll be flying to Boston and won't have a rental. Considering how expensive a taxi or Uber would be to leave the state, it's probably Centerfold or Glass Slipper for me.

    Wednesday in Barberton.
I was actually driving through Barberton Wednesday afternoon around 2:30 after a meeting. I considered Lucky's, but opted to keep driving for Club Boom Boom instead. Not even sure that visit was worth a review. Next time, I'll experiment with a different Akron club.
