Strip Club Nation
@skibum rofl I get ya man. That insane fuck you describe, he is like a few of my cousins / uncles, it seems like they sort of don't sleep. Or they have the knack of resting / sleeping / semi-consciousness while at work or something. Like Tolkien described the Elves, they never actually lie down they just quasi-meditate while hiking.
I don't think you guys want a smoking ban. Although I appreciate the cleaner air here in a city that does have a smoking ban, all it has done in my city is completely destroy the strip club patronage. In other types of nightspots -- you know, they do exist, don't you? like bars and nightclubs -- here the business doesn't seem to be down much, at least not due to the smoking ban. But when New Orleans passed a no-indoor-smoking act in about 2005 or 2010 or so, the strip clubs went to shit. Fewer customers, less of a huge late-night shoulder-to-shoulder crowd, and quickly the quality of girls deteriorated as well.
I would like a place where people would smoke nice cigars because I would like to smoke my nice tobacco pipe(s). My local club does have an outdoor deck for smoking. I have to say it is quite nice. Seats, stand-up tables, nice televisions, covered from the elements, you can bring your drink(s) out there, it has a clear-ish view of a wooded and light-industrial area so there's a good breeze, and they put up those big propane heaters the height of beach umbrellas when it's colder. So it's an excellent deck, as far as decks go. But I still dislike using it. The girls are often out there vaping, but it's not "in the club." It's like, I went to a club to smoke my pipe, and now the first thing I have to do in order to smoke my pipe, is leave the club.
Since the indoor-smoking ban I've passed off on my tobacco pipe habit. I'm no longer getting them out, I don't even look at the collectibles on EBay any more.

All the sympathetic feelz for Croatia who went down to the latest of late equalizers. Not that they deserved it, usually people know that you have to defend in the latter minutes when there are Italians anywhere nearby. Also Scotland's late but pointless loss to Hungary, just proving who deserves to be eliminated more, minnow A versus minnow B. As my friend in Glasgow put it on his Facebook account, "rather get home early and do the serious drinking, than hang around for no reason like an unwanted guest after the party's over stuffing his face on stale bread and weak tea (cough! England! cough cough!)."

Or, you could get a second phone, a burner-phone only used for clubbing purposes. Would be annoying to have to set up duplicate profiles for the things you want to use at the club (personally, I'd want very little other than Shazam, Uber, and calling and texting capabilities) but otherwise very straightforward, you could even pre-pay.

This app claims to spoof your location on iPhone. Makes a PC connection, re-identifies your location. Seems to apply to all the apps in the phone (f.e. if you call for an Uber it might send the Uber to where you CLAIM to be).
https://www.iphone-to-pc.com/how-to-spoof-gps-location-on-iphone.html
There are several similar apps for Android phones but they seem less invasive. Like, you can simply spoof your Google location without messing with your Uber connection. Here's one

Always always check the member's stats. How many reviews? How long? I sort-of wish the system would display a user's review tally up front. So f.e. I would appear as "Book Guy (148 published reviews)" wherever my reviews are posted.
I know this info is readily available. The first thing I do when reading reviews, is click the reviewer's name to see if this is his virgin review rubber ducky. But I might like the number to be displayed on the reviews page instead of hidden behind a click-through on the user's page. It's maybe extra (and unnecessary? YMMV) work for Founder, so I haven't suggested it, but maybe I will if I'm feeling demanding.

rofl @ "deathbed conversion" I self-identify as "Progressive" (sometimes) but definitely agree on that analysis of Biden's border slumber. A lot in this thread is invective, but I can read things that convince me, here and there, or, if not convince, then at least inform me of what the other side is worried about. I can't personally justify turning in favor of Trump simply because Biden is demonstrably bad about some things, and I certainly can't favor the insurrectionist criminal for his strengths in insurrection and crime. I think the strongest point the Right has, is the fact that the "entitled Left" of (what they call) "elites" treats the American people as though "they" (the citizens) aren't "good enough" for "us" (the elected leaders). It ought to be the other way around. Democrats long ago lost the moral high ground on being the "party of the people", I think when they (and the citizenry) abandoned the Labor movement (and the necessary background education in what it ought to be, what it accomplishes, what it works against, what it is not).
So, I understand the Right's derision of the "elites" (with all that they mean by that term). I can't defend the Biden Harris ticket (or Hillary Clinton; or ... a lot of others) on that score. I'm probably still voting for them, largely because as an educated citizen I value having expertise in leadership rather than bluster and personability. I'd rather have a snot-nosed snob who knows what he's doing as long as what he's doing is policies in favor of working-class and at the expense of multi-millionaires. So I still stand by "eat the rich" but I'm duly chastened by the consistent repetition, by Right winger one after another, of just how annoying and out-of-touch and patronizing and downright corrupt the "elite" leadership is. If you could come up with someone OTHER than Romney / Trump / McCain / Bush1 / 2, all of whom inherited gaboodles of wealth and were (most of them) born into political insider-ship, I'd completely believe you on the "elites" issue. But Trump inherited a Manhattan real estate empire, so, you can't completely whine that he represents something counter to insider-elite leadership. He's on good record referring to working class people as "chumps" and military enlistees as "suckers." Sounds pretty snot-nosed and "elite" to me.
Democrats could learn from this discussion, just by listening harder. "Elites" don't do much of that. They think they "know better" from the outset. I'm really impressed with Bloomberg, who says in all his interviews that political leadership is about building coalitions, finding the people who are with you and bringing along the other people who might not start out with you. Biden doesn't really try to do that, he thinks he knows what's best. With something like Fauci's leadership of the Covid response, where it's simply plain science, he's got a good claim for being right. But with almost everything else, he needs to learn some humility. Stop telling people that this particular goal is something they should want. Even if they do want that goal, they still will hate being told what they should do.

German attendance is out the roof. Some of the Euro games are in a second-tier stadium but, as the announcer informed us, the team there still averages 51,000 attendance with 20 or 25 games a year. People in North America THINK we're obsessed with sports ...
I was surprised by Belgium's first game, as was 'most everyone. Their second game against Romania was a very good game for a neutral, wide open and undefended, but I'm not impressed, I think this supposed Golden Generation of Belch may be over before its trophy ever hits. Also Croatia can't defend for crap, never mind their amazing tactics and vision in all midfield (not just Modric). I'm gratified to see England faltering, I love to hate them, they always seem so smug (they act like they deserve to win, as though the fact of having done so just once back in 1966 means they keep doing so automatically) but also so deferential and unenthusiastic. It's like tepid weak tea, apologetic about being out of line, drably predictable. The social class structure on full display.

ROFL @ ilbbaicnl yup I'm guilty as charged. :) I like your definition of marriage, too. I think a lot of people really "shouldn't" do that thing you describe, where they de facto entrap someone whom they supposedly love into pre-planned unhappiness. But I think they do it because "you're supposed to." After a certain period of time dating, marriage is the "normal" and "expected" thing.
One of the great things about strip clubs is that "normal" and "expected" are utterly thrown out the window. In the simple sense, the relationships aren't "normal". But in a deeper sense, I often find, when I'm interacting with a woman whose head is at least reasonably screwed on tight, that a lot of social conventions can be intelligently questioned and examined. Not just the typical "should" sorts of expectations, like getting married. But thoroughly seeing behind the whole "system" of assumptions. That's one of the sides of strip clubbing I highly value. Over all it's more honest about expectations and more capable of a clear-eyed view of why we do things. "The myths we live by."

Weird. I can't imagine wanting my club life to transgress into my real life. Yes, the dancers are physically attractive, and now because I'm getting older, they're certainly more physically attractive than the usual targets who might reasonably be considered members of my dating pool. But the advantage is, that I DON'T have to have a relationship with them. I don't hear about their baby daddy. I don't hear about daycare. I don't hear about whether or not their car will start. I don't care a shit about what prices their dealers are trying to charge them. I have no problem getting my rent paid and my electric bill paid and my cell phone bill paid and if they want those things paid by me, there's going to be a one-to-one exchange, a quid pro quo, a tit for tat with emphasis on the TIT. I can't imagine wanting to DATE someone I met at the club, and if I did meet someone that seemed cool enough to date, it would be out of the ordinary, a woman whose mental state was decidedly different from most of the other dancers.
Personally, I like the fact that the dancer doesn't know about my real life, and can't ever be integrated into my non-club life. At the club, to stave off identification, for privacy I tell people fantasy stories about who I am. I use something other than my real name. Hi I'm Bartholomew Simpson. Hello, my name is Lenny Briscoe, this is my partner Mike Logan (I actually do have minor acquaintance with Chris Noth but that's a different issue). Then I spin silly stories that are obviously fake -- I'm an astronaut spy, I work for Vladimir Putin -- to have fun with the concept.
Once in a while the truth does come out. Sometimes I admit a few snippets of fact if it's germane to certain types of knowledge I might have. F.e. if a dancer has some kind of legal issues, like drug possession charges or child custody battles, then I can usually direct her phone to the right website of a colleague who will represent her at dancer-level prices. I'm usually annoyed (though not surprised) to learn, almost all dancers have NOT hired a lawyer to represent them, even in serious matters. "Oh do I need one of those? Can't I just fill out the forms myself?" Also, sometimes I talk about my actual investments, the categories and fields that they're in (tech, oil, I own shares of evil empires), because (oddly?) some dancers always want to talk about the stock market. But they aren't getting my Social Security number, hell'z naw.

I enjoy watching those "street walk" (or bike or drive) videos too. I concur with @shailynn, they're very dangerous locations now.
Street-walker strolls were not always so extremely risky. These videos recall my own "good old days" when I might cruise for street-walkers in my youth. That particular type of mongering has become a very dangerous game, and the internet information has also become less and less reliable, so I don't really enjoy it any more. The drugs have changed it all, as I understand it.
I would say, that I CHOOSE not to participate in it, any more, but in fact, I would probably find myself compelled (as in, an addiction) to participate in street-walker mongering if I found it enjoyable. So I guess I'm glad that I find it unenjoyable enough that I don't feel compelled to go after it. My lowest of low experiences were along Nebraska Avenue in Tampa in the late 1990s or early 2000s. I'm glad I don't do that any more. I never took the drugs, but I was certainly patronizing the women who needed the drugs.
I'm unfamiliar with the cities in these particular videos. There have been a few, very few, limited videos on YouTube which show the strips in cities I know well, but I found the videos very misleading about the cities in general. I think the L.A. and Seattle (and other) strips that are more regularly portrayed, probably receive a fair and representative portrayal, since there's so much more street action there.

Muddy, I thought you were the one grouping "that all together" with the TITLE OF THIS ENTIRE THREAD.
Well, I can agree with you that the border is broken and needs fixing (if the Republicans in Congress would stop sucking Trump's dick we might actually pass some bipartisan legislation on the subject!).
I can't agree that there's a large amount of crime committed by people who entered the country illegally, or on false premises. The numbers and facts say otherwise. The right-wing media hosts who need to blame someone, in order to whoop up fervor and maximize ratings, have chosen illegal immigrants as their scapegoats. Nazis had their Jews, Fox has their illegal immigrants. Neither vilified group was committing anything like the wrongs which the propagandists claimed they were committing.
But the border is a mess. One big problem is that we have resources to process VERY few asylum claims, but EVERY person who gets there is making that claim. We should all dislike the current abuse of the asylum process, since asylum and refugee status are systems designed not for economic migrants, but for escape from specific types of oppression, generally ethnic and political. To claim that you deserve "asylum" in the USA right when you get to the border means, just abstractly speaking, that you would get automatic entry into the USA on the presumption that you'd otherwise be killed or abused if you weren't admitted, because of your membership in a targeted group back home (wrong ethnicity, religion, political party, etc.). But currently, most of the people claiming "asylum" and seeking refugee status, by using that terminology and system they are instead escaping economic and social hardship which is not directly targeted at them individually or at their group. F.e. the claim that it just "sucks to be in Honduras" so I want "asylum in the USA to allow escape from Honduras generally" shouldn't be treated as a valid refugee / asylum claim. (As a bleeding heart, I'd probably want to let them in on OTHER grounds anyway, but that's a different issue.) You'd need to claim, more specifically, f.e., "I will be killed / tortured / denied a family etc. if I have to go back to China because I am a Uighur, thus I am a member of a group which that country oppresses."
If you need to vilify one group in a negative categorization, then your limited thinking is both (a) over-simplifying the issue, and (b) assuming the simplification is valid (it isn't, but assuming) targeting the wrong culprits anyway. For (a), it isn't ONE GROUP that's doing it all, and that group can't be identified as simply "they crossed the border illegally." For (b) even if it were one specific group, you got the wrong group. It's violent criminals who commit violent crimes.
To solve that, I'd suggest taking on native-born USA citizen White male Protestant Christians aged 15 to 35. Without them, we wouldn't have 99% of our mass shootings and we'd return to having safe streets on par with developed democracies in Europe and the rest of the Global North, rather than being a statistically extreme outlier on unnecessarily violent gun usage.

Agreed: stats are hard to come by.
Agreed: the border is broken. In particular, the new migrant/illegal pattern is to abuse the asylum system, making claims for which that system is not set up. (BTW this is happening globally.) If only Congress could have come up with a bi-partisan agreement. Oh wait they did. Then Trump told his lap-puppies to nix THEIR OWN LEGISLATION and they sucked his cock instead of acting for the betterment of the country.
Cato Institute, conservative think tank, study generally says illegals commit less crime:
"In 2018, the illegal immigrant criminal conviction rate was 782 per 100,000 illegal immigrants, 535 per 100,000 legal immigrants, and 1,422 per 100,000 native‐born Americans. The illegal immigrant criminal conviction rate was 45 percent below that of native‐born Americans in Texas. The general pattern of native‐born Americans having the highest criminal conviction rates followed by illegal immigrants and then with legal immigrants having the lowest holds for all of other specific types of crimes such as violent crimes, property crimes, homicide, and sex crimes."

Well-photographed tan lines can be extremely sexy, maybe because the un-tanned portion looks more delicate and vulnerable in comparison. But this requires careful lighting and a competent photographer. Strip clubs often have the wrong lighting and set-up for the proper effect.

The claim in the OP is, by implication and direct statement, the following, roughly paraphrased -- that people who cross into the USA illegally from Latin American countries are committing violent crimes at a high rate, and are perhaps crossing solely with that goal in mind. They deliberately upend their lives, risk loss of all their possessions and wealth and perhaps their lives, in order to change their home from a violent and dangerous place to a safer, more prosperous country where they will be more free to pursue a decent living than at their first home. They do this precisely in order to make their new location as miserable as the old location was. They don't want to escape poverty and violence, but rater, they want to export it, because they like wallowing in it.
The contrary claim is that people whose immigration status in the USA is illegal are less likely to commit crimes, certainly not violent crimes, because they know they can be detected more easily and will not only serve punishment equivalent to any USA citizen's punishment, but also will be deported, thus losing any advantage of coming to the USA in the first place. They are LESS likely to commit crimes.
You pick which narrative you prefer. One of them is supported by facts and statistics, the other by people who gain benefit from telling false stories.
