We often refer to the “bizarro world” of strip clubs. It seems the opposition of strip clubs are where both left and right extremists are united. . The right wing Christian fundamentalists oppose strip clubs as well many on the far left, including feminists, who view it as exploitation of women and the poor.

When I see comments by Bill Maher it gives me hope. I used to think he was far left but even he has been calling out extremists on both sides and calling Democrats the party of “no common sense”

I didn’t realize Doris Kearns Goodwin was part of the production team. She was one of the commentators on each episode which really surprised me because I thought she lost a lot of credibility as a historian with her plagiarism accusations

Club owners have blatantly been in violation of FSLA by mid classifying dancers as independent contractors. However…..the same applies to dancers. They can’t have it both ways either. I knew of the dancer that was Jane Doe from the Lansing, MI Deja Vu club whose lawsuit developed into a national class action suit. When her attorney made contact with the club, they immediately made the dancer an employee (not an independent contractor) and paid her minimum wage. And like every other employee her job description included the phrase “and perform other duties as assigned” No one here would be surprised - her income dropped when she was paid minimum wage and she didn’t like having to help the waitresses with occasional cleaning. She promptly quit. Dancers don’t always know what’s best for them

I spent a lot of cash one night at Industrial Strip in Hammond, IN (a suburb of Chicago). I’ve had that happen and hate it. Pay too much and you feel like you got ROB’d. Pay too little and you come off as cheap tight wad. When it’s happened, I probably overpaid because the girls always seem happy. I usually opt for higher end clubs (the Flight Club) but occasionally I will try something different so I went across the street to Bogarts - the dump dive bar. There was an unusually attractive girl there (for Bogarts). Without hesitation or asking she unzipped me and gave me a blow job. After it was over - I asked how much - and she gave me the “whatever you think” line. I gave her the cost of the dances plus $40 so for me that seemed way to low. But she seemed very grateful.

As far as savings….it’s been a roller coaster ride. I’ve never sat down and done the math for 24 months but my gut feeling has been it’s a wash. The first few months I saved $20 per month. Not sure if that was an introductory offer or establishing a baseline. Then it increased but still was saving about $3 per month. Then it went up $10 a month and now it’s up $13 from my pre-Covid rates. So not sure if it’s related to inflation in general or my driving. The app gives you a 2 week rolling average. I generally am around 92. I briefly got as high as 95. But then take a trip on the interstate and drive 80 with the flow of traffic and your score in the 80’s hangs with you for awhile. I’ve read you need near perfection, 97-98 to see any real reduction in rates and that’s impossible to achieve. I’m no daredevil driver but I get scored down a lot for cornering and hard braking. Coming to a yellow light is real challenge. If you brake hard you get scored low but if you don’t you run the risk of getting caught by the camera.

I hear the term often but no one has defined it. Can a 24 year old college graduate who can’t land a job and pay off her student loans (because she was a liberal arts major) qualify as a baby stripper? Or is it just those under 20 ?
