Even as far back as 25 years ago I had friends in the Chicago suburbs that refused to go the city. They were amazed at people from Indiana or Wisconsin or Michigan who would want to come to Chicago for a Bears or Cubs game or shopping or dining when they hadn’t been to the city in years despite living only 20 miles away
I can’t imagine their thoughts now

Amazingly I’ve only been called for jury duty once and it was almost 20 years ago and a drug trial.
I think I was juror prospect number 11 or 12 and when the attorneys were asking questions it was the same question over and over again. “Do you know a police officer” or “has anyone in your family been affected by drug use”
Except when they got to me it was “what was the last book you read”?
WTF? I was in grad school working on my MBA so I referenced some Econ text.

The real dumb ones are the guys that get injured during the celebration. Mets pitcher Edwin Diaz tore a tendon in the recent WBC and will miss the season. He’s the most recent but far from alone. There’s been at least a couple dozen injuries. One of the famous ones was the field goal kicker who missed the rest of the season when he jumped in the air after a game winner

I was rooting hard for FAU to win. I didn’t expect Miami to beat UCONN so I didn’t want to see a UCONN - San Diego St final.
