This thread is inspired by the person who recently started a thread about songs featuring great saxophone playing!
I was listening to Supertramp's "Take the Long Way Home" on the way back from dinner last night, and without question, that song is my absolute favorite in terms of enjoying some great harmonica.
Do you have a favorite song or two where you just can't stop focusing on the harmonica because it's played so perfectly?
I also got to see Jason Ricci at several live gigs in New Orleans during the late 90's /early 2000's. Doesn't get much better than listening to him wail during a Blues number while suckin down Turbo Dogs in a NOLA club.
Heart of Gold - Neil Young. Run Around - Blues Traveller, but anything by J. Geils rocks. Very underrated band that understood how important love truly is and did a song about it.
First song that jumped into my head was Roadhouse Blues. Suicide Blonde also came to mind. Might not be the greatest song, but it takes me back to some great memories from college,
Too many good comments to respond to individually, but after reading them all, it's pretty obvious that I need to pay more attention to some J. Geils stuff!
And while I know some of these artists/songs, there are some mentions that I need to search for and give a listen to, which I will do...
Thanks for the comments and recommendations so far! :)
@datinman I took your suggestion and watched a video of Whammer Jammer live from 1979. The harmonica was damn impressive, and holy ****, so were the hairstyles!

last commentLong Train Runnin' by the Doobie Brothers has a great harmonica solo in it. It's played by guitarist Tom Johnston, who wrote the song and sings lead.

Piano Man by Billy Joel
For a song about playing the piano, is surely has a lot of Mouth Organ being played
But there's probably some bad ass blues guys from yesteryear to look into.
