D.C. to make strip clubs even worse.

The sports bar was already there. They are just adding the ability to bet. The sports bar is on a separate floor from Cloakroom and you have to take stairs or the elevator to get up there. You also don’t pay the $20 Cloakroom cover if you’re just going to the sports bar. And while not on par with the high or even medium mileage cities, DC has been trending to add lap dances over the last few years, not restrict them. But everything else in your post was accurate.

I don't see how this makes anything worse.

The Flight Club opened a casino on the second floor (for about 2 weeks before authorities shut it down). Dancers were excited because they expected the casino to draw in lots of customers. The problem was that gamblers care about gambling, not about hot strippers. The gamblers went into the casino and gambled until they lost their money. Then they went home. No windfall for the dancers.

Cloakroom and the sports bar are separate establishments. They just share a building. No table games. Maybe you get some crossover crowd but it won’t be any different than how it is already since we have sports betting with phone apps.

I guess the holding company will get the PL money from both betting and buying dances? It seems like this might divert money from dances - so I wonder if this might hurt dancer incomes?

I’ve not been to a club in DC in 15 years, and I’m not planning to return. There were basically no lap dances allowed years ago. I didn’t even think about extras - as the dancers weren’t very hands on.

Cloakroom is mostly a table dance and tip club. The rooms are expensive like several hundred dollars, though one recent review reported a lot of haggling to get a good contact dance of ten minutes for $150. As for sports betting boosting the club? We need Scrub to chime in here because that article was basically written by the club owners and is a CLUB AD. They’re just competing for the local gambling revenue like everyone else. MD just opened its online betting a month ago so there are plenty of places you can bet.

Seem like strippers with good hustle like having the option, when necessary, of grinding out a decent night by selling a dance or two to lots of PLs, plus stage tips. For that, it's probably good if a club has other attractions besides strippers and booze. Will help draw in PLs who don't want more than a few dances, or just want to throw butt dollars at stage dancers. It's only a problem if the PLs who are going to drop 3 to 4 figures on the strippers get crowded out.

It's my impression that the problem with DC is that there are no clubs were even two way contact is typical.

@Jimmy I haven't been to a DC strip club in years, mostly because when I have gone in the past, it's a lot of money just to look at the girls and get an air dance. I've mostly stayed in Baltimore, PG County, and wherever the hell Millstream is. You don't think this place will be any good, do you?

Cloakroom has been around for a long time. They’ve had contact VIP for a few years since DC lightened up. Is it a better option than Baltimore? No, but if you’re in DC the girls are very hot and you can have a good time if you manage your expectations. I reviewed it a couple months ago and there are a couple of reviews that are more in depth than mine. I’d go back if I was in the city. The sports bar was always there. This isn’t a big change. They are two separate venues. Separate entrances. Different floors.

I haven’t posted a review of the club but Cloakroom is good. This should be an interesting addition. Full contact lap dances can be had, but it’s pricey and low value. If you’re in business with no rental car can you potentially get the job done? Sure, if you’re sensitive, willing to drop a few hundred, and get lucky. You’ll prob have been luck OTC. Extras are beyond frowned upon there (you and the dancer will get thrown out).

DC clubs are trending in the right direction at least. DC even tried to decriminalize sex work in 2019 (sadly the bill was killed) so it’s getting more liberal and open overall. While contact lap dances are still illegal based on the laws on the book I believe, there is zero enforcement or desire to enforce it, which is great because DC clubs sucked until Cloakroom broke down that wall. Now many do it. It’s possible someone did it before them, but they are the ones I heard about.

If you go, there’s a dancer named Leah that’s worth getting dances from. You won’t get extras (it’s still DC) but she’s blisteringly hot and funny. Expensive tho. In fact, most of the ladies I’ve met there have been pretty epic since they reopened a few years ago on the conversation front.
