I have read it, and I don’t see why it wouldn’t be published today. There are many books depicting sexual violence, and American Psycho is a satire in many aspects.
There is little that approaches reality in that book. Although, if the protagonist was female, I’m thinking Blah might find it autobiographical.
@WILLY I think it’s one of those depictions of 80-90’s excesses and it shows the empty existence of a true capitalist with no redeeming qualities.
Maybe I’m viewing it through a convoluted lens, but it would seem to be something many progressives (who hate the capitalist structure of American society) would see as a self fulfilling prophecy?
As the protagonist searches ( with emotion and urgency) for the proper color of his business cards, while (acting indifferent brutally) murdering others, it almost confirms the banal existence of a stock broker (who many see as an evil part of capitalism).
I’m not portraying my views. I’m just providing some ideas as to why it wouldn’t be canceled.
Capitalist countries: United States; Canada; England; France; Germany. Socialist/communist countries: Russia; China; Cuba; Venezuela; North korea; Angola; Bangladesh; Bolivia - stop being stupid. Be normal, don't be progressives, don't be a progressive leech/loser/cum stain.
I saw Andrew Dice Clay live many years ago when he was getting a lot more press and attention.
I don't know if he did this at the top oaf every show, but at the start of the one I saw he was warming up and only semi in character and he said "If you're here to laugh at me, welcome. If you're here to laugh with my comedy, then get the fuck out."
In his heyday, his routine was lacquered in satire and irony.
I watched a documentary on the movie Clockwork Orange. In one part of it the movie was shown to a group of college students and then they discussed it. The professor asked them if the movie could be made and released today, and a majority of the students said it couldn't. American Psycho might fall into that category too.

It is okay to be a psycho if you are a cool species like a lion or a tiger or a crab. But psycho hairless apes are just sad. ROAR!!!!!!!

Yes.
"Do you think it would be published today?"
Also yes. It's a good book. Not exactly beach reading, but it's a good book.
..
If he was acting like the Dice persona - I think he would be.
