@Michigan in Portland I usually recommend Spyce and Club Rouge to visitors. Also good are Union Jacks, SinRock, DV8, and Rose City Strip. My sentimental favorite smaller neighborhood dive clubs are Sassy's, Columbia Strip, Sunset Strip, and Club 205. And if you want highest mileage and the best chance for extras/OTC *potential* try Tommy's Too, Dream On Saloon, and the Scarlet Lounge.
@Meat72 it's been years since I've stepped foot in Mary's. With Spyce, Club Rouge, and even the Golden Dragon nearby, I see no reason to go to Mary's anymore.
But that said if there is any club in Portland that you must visit at least once, it's Mary's. It's the original! And it's the last place open downtown to get a beer after all the other bars and clubs close.
SirLapdancealot has the town wired pretty well. Most clubs in town have that neighborhood dive vibe. Sadly most places / dancers have raised lapdance rates to a level where it's just not worth it anymore, given that true extras are unlikely. $40 to squeeze a boob for 3 minutes seems stupid. And as far as that goes, paying those kinds of rates for lapdances truly is a chump's game, to paraphrase SJG.
@PinkSugar, I doubt the money you can earn in Portland will compare to Dallas. But let us know if you do come to town.
@crotchrocket there are still some clubs that stay at $25/1 rate and even if not there are strippers that will come down to that rate (unbeknownst to the club) if you negotiate and find one willing. As far as I know and for example Dream On Saloon and Columbia Strip are still $25/1 officially. Also I have a couple of faves at DV8/Rose City and Sunset Strip that came down to $25/1 from $40/1 after I negotiated.
But to your point the rate hike to $40/1 is from greedy owners like Casa Diablo's which is why I will never go to one of his clubs and always advise people to avoid them too. All it will do is drive the # of dances purchased down and also give more incentive for strippers to do things OTC. Even strippers don't like it. This is speculation only but I think Stars Bridgeport is on the decline because of it. If they went back to $25/1 I'll bet business and customer throughput there would get better.
I haven't been to Dallas in a while, but it's hard believe Portland could beat it as a place to dance. Lots of dive bars. If you're not old and fat, though, you'll stand out. Economy is strong. I would guess the downtown clubs would do well weeknights with business travelers. Not sure about weekends. Good luck.
