I'm stunned he actually won it. I legitimately expected Rubio to win it, but I guess he's too short, too Latino and too effeminate for Republicans.
Hillary will probably beat Barrack's electoral college total. Demographics were gonna make it tough for Republicans with a good candidate. You guys got a huge turd.
Why do people think a candidate or president they don't like "hates America"? I consider W the worst president in my lifetime but I never thought he was un-American or was trying to destroy our country. He just made a lot of bad decisions and listened too much to Chaney.
How can anyone have anything close to an intelligent political discussion when all they can contribute is name calling or hyperbolic opinions? Even Trump isn't trying to destroy America.
"How can anyone have anything close to an intelligent political discussion when all they can contribute is name calling or hyperbolic opinions?"
How can anyone have an intelligent political discussion with someone whose knowledge of the situation and talking points are based on the hyperbole of the liberal agenda and fails to realize or refuses to acknowledge that not everyone thinks that way and there are other options in the world?
@randommember LOL. That has to be record for shortest stint as a running mate. Seriously, Cruz's stock really sank, for me at least, when he announced that pick.
I was surprised Cruz dropped out this early. Especially when one of the RNC members said last week that just because Trump has delegates doesn't mean he gets the nomination. I really thought Cruz was itching for a floor fight but apparently he's not.
What do you mean "this early"? There are only a few states and weeks to go...I'm surprised he stayed in THIS LATE when it was evident it was mathematically impossible for him to get the required delegates, well before Indiana.
A floor fight is not necessary when the majority has overwhelmingly chosen their candidate.
Cruz was honest. When the delegate math precluded his winning the nomination in the primaries, he exited the race. It was Kasich who was counting on the contested convention. I am surprised, but pleasantly so, to see that Kasich had the sense and decency to acquiesce to the electorate, misguided as they are.
No, Cruz was not honest. The math was there weeks ago that he could not get enough nominees, especially after the northeast voting was complete. The only hope he had was that they could prevent Trump from getting the magic number. Throwing up hail mary's (VP nominee, alliances, etc) - everyone knew this guy was toast.
And Kasich was never in it...or as we like to call him 1 for 41, 42, 43, etc...even a contested convention wouldn't have chosen him.
And my thoughts on Hilary...if women can't be signed to the draft, why can they be Commander in Chief? That alone is enough for me to decide my choice.
They can serve in the military, and the draft is inactive so it's a weak point; but I agree that if the USA is going to have selective service, then women should have to register just like men do.
gammanu I don't get how you can say Cruz was honest. I seem to remember back to during the run-up to the Wisconsin caucuses Cruz firing the first salvo of lies where he claimed Rubio had dropped out, even sent a mailer to likely caucus attendees. Please be real, there are no Dionysus's on either side of the aisle. Trump ain't no honest Abe, either but he is smarter than any of the Republicans, what a bunch of idiots and I include the morons who get all partisan on both sides as well.
Were you able to keep a straight while writing that Trump was smarter than the other republicans? I'm not even going to begin rehashing his litany of misspeaks, contradictions, and denials of historical truth. I'll probably vote for him because he's not Hillary, and maybe he will build the wall and stop importing terrorists and refugees (although I doubt it), but I think America is in a decline which we may take generations to exit from.
The fact that he is the smartest, out of a bunch of dummies definitely makes it hard to keep from laughing out loud at him. I don't believe a word that he says and I bet he doesn't either. But have no fear, we will survive this, and in the end the country will be OK.
One afterthought, this is something I have said before and I feel it is worth repeating, I don't believe that Mr. Trump really wants to be president, I think he got into this for vanity, and in the end it just got away from him. Keep in mind his winning in the general is not a forgone conclusion, although he has an even chance of winning at this point, there are still 7 months between now and November's general election who knows what could transpire between now and then.
Lesson 1: Political parties: when someone shows up with either the money or the support net to stick around for the long run, TAKE HIM/HER SERIOUSLY, whatever's in their past and whatever's in their current platform. The would-be "serious" GOP contenders held their fire for too long because they all thought Donald was in this just for shits and giggles and they wanted to pick up his followers when he left; by the time they realized he was going for it with live ammo it was too late.
Lesson 2: News Media: will you now understand that covering the "freak show" side of the campaign is giving FREE PUBLICITY to the freaks? If Candidate X says/does wacky thing Y, sure, lead the newscast with it if you must, but don't give 18 out of the next 24 hours to it, especially if it's merely stupid rather than criminal or if it was a spouse/child/in-law who did/said it. And since when is Twitter a source, it's right in the name, it's a gathering of twits! I swear at times it looks like you'd want the election to end with -nobody- winning so there's THAT big story to cover.
As for Ted, well, here we have someone of whom other conservatives said if he got murdered in the middle of a Senate session you could not find one witness, and called him "Lucifer incarnate" and the most miserable S.O.B. they ever met. He only lasted this long out of sheer cussedness, his delusion that God wanted him to be the candidate. and because he had better cash support from the old-school FundaMENTAList groups (so one good thing is he proved Evangelicals are NOT the monolithic block everyone thought they were who can make or break the election).
I heard Satanists were offended comparing Cruz to Lucifer. Lol, I guess they thought Lucifer wasn't anywhere near as bad as Cruz.
Now it will be crooked Hillary versus Trump. Will she still win the election if indicted by the FBI and convicted? Obama could pardon her if that happens and I bet she would still get a bunch of democrat votes. Maybe as the first man, Bill could legalize bj's everywhere. I heard they were illegal in some states. He could start with the White House and hire some new interns. Haha.

I thought he had a chance too and I liked him until I saw him under pressure. When he started out, he had a ton of support and was one of the golden children. But then the New Hampshire debate happened, where Chris Christie utterly mandhandled him and made a mockery of him. In that moment, he looked like a nervous boy among men. He never really recovered and started employing desperate measures soon after he left NH with a horrible 5th place showing. The most egregious move, the penis joke, was the final nail in his coffin.
Rock, nobody wants a sissy for a President and that includes the educated. If Rubio couldn't handle a little pressure from the likes of Christie and Trump, how in the world was he going to hold up when dealing with the likes of Putin, Assad, Kim and the many other hardcases who work against America's interests around the world?
The discussion about - when the whores start work - and the resulting discussion of stripper logic is ironic and funny. However - even stripper logic seems "logical" in comparison to what has happened in the primary season this time.
Both sides are built on bizarre logic. The former First Lady - of a president who was impeached and who had sex with an intern in the White House - has now basically secured a nomination. She pushed a similar universal healthcare bill - which is now a mess after being implemented by Obama.
Trump is crazy - but considering the other 16 freaks he was running against - he didn't look crazy at all! Kasich seemed like a decent guy. But everyone hated Cruz - and the more we saw of Cruz - the more we realized that he's a total dick!
CaraLynn, people would expect me to support Trump, but I don't. My first pick was Walker, then Jindal, then I had to reluctantly vote for Cruz in the FL primary. Even though I support strong action against illegal immigration, in protecting American consumers and workers, against our enemies (geo-political and ideological), as does Trump; I am not a double-talking flip-flopping uneducated bigoted misogynist, as is Trump. I suspect that is why many of the other contenders and party leaders have also not publicly supported him. My ballot will be cast for whoever the Republican nominee is, but only as a result of voting against Hillary or the less likely Bernard.
gammanu95, i agree, trump wasn't my first choice, and walker was right up there. but, lets deal with reality. not voting for whoever is the rights choice, would be a vote for hill or the socialist. bottom line, we are fed up with the politicians that promise so much, then get elected and do nothing. re: the last midterms.
I'll see your 2014 midterms and raise you back to 2010. When Killer Ted Kennedy died, a Tea Party Republican was elected to finish the term. He ran as a Reagan Republican but voted just like any other new England liberal.
If Trump is elected, all I will ask of him is to do what he has said he will do. Career politicians are notorious for failing to do that.
gammanu95, you are correct about politicians failing on their promises. that is the point of the mid term comment. from an all liberal congress in 2008, we were asked to elect Republicans to stop obamas madness. we did that. madness continued. well, in 2012, we hear, we need the senate. again, we did that, and still nothing but broken promises. that is what created the opening for a Trump or any outsider.
Thanks for taking it in the spirit it was offered. Whenever I get out to Miami for SC'ing, I'll let you and Papi know. I'm actually in Miami right now, but it's with my wife for Mother's Day, so no clubbing this trip.
of course you morons like trump. haters gonna hate, progressives gonna goose step, zipperhead68’s gonna keep on sucking george soros’ hate filled progressive nazi dick, trump's gonna name george soros as his vice president and you morons will still vote for him.
gammanu95: You're almost exactly where I am on this awful Republican nomination. Early on I favored Rand Paul, though I also found Walker, Perry, and Jindal politically attractive. By the time my state held its primary, my choices were down to "One-for-45" Kasich, the "double-talking flip-flopping uneducated bigoted misogynist" Trump, and "Lyin' Ted" Cruz, so I reluctantly voted for Cruz, only to see him get annihilated by the Trumpster.
And CaraLynn87, you are precisely right about the Republican establishment's responsibility for the rise of Trump. If you ignore the economic concerns of the middle class for decades, cater to the elite, pretend to care about illegal immigration but do nothing about it, and generally act as if white working-class voters will always vote Republican automatically (just as the Democrats act as if black voters are theirs by divine right), then the Trump phenomenon is inevitable.
Now the Republicans have to decide what to do with this very un-Republican, un-conservative buffoon that they are about to nominate for President. I certainly can't vote for Hillary (or Sanders, for that matter), but I don't know whether Trump can persuade me that he is worthy of my vote.
^^^ Here you go star here's somebody you should be voting against, even an idiot Alinskiite, like you say I am knows how many ways this could go wrong . Give the keys to this guy you will get a firsthand experience in Idiotocracy will be.
Hah! You're still trying to redeem your failed liberal arguments. Got smacked down in one discussion thread, vow never to debate me again, but still can't keep your word, so you follow me to another thread. Loser cannot come close to describing how sad and hopeless you are. LMAO
Listen up jackass you don't know what the fuck you are talking about I don't have to redeem shit you couldn't smack down a mosquito, you are just talking shit out of your ass.
On my worst day I am better than you ever were on your best.
You two are hilarious. Left is left, right is right, a frog is a frog and a scorpion is a scorpion. When will you realize that you're both correct and you're also both wrong? The left needs the right, because without the right there can be no left, and vice versa.
Trump is way better at driving a narrative towards his favor than Hillary, because she bores the hell out of people with her same old left wing rhetoric. With Trump creating the news each and every new day, the Clinton campaign will be on their heels trying to defend their position and it will become clear whom the true leader is by November. The only thing stopping Trump is the electoral vote.
Being socially liberal and fiscally conservative as I am the thing about Trump that scares me is his lack of concern for stable markets, spouting off like he does will cause tremendous volatility unless he gets his mouth under control.
The markets definitely like Hillary, and with the odds in her favor of winning the markets are fairly calm right now. I think you're right that volatility will escalate if it begins to look like he has a clear chance of becoming the President.
Socially liberal and fiscally conservative? Is there a political party for that? Oh it's called the working middle class whom have no representation, other than assuming the position to getting fucked!
Speaking of the middle class, I actually thought of an idea. If it's crazy, please let me know... What if there was a reduced tax rate on only the middle class? I.e. 15% on income under 30k, 5% on income between 30k and 150k, and 40% on income 150k and up? Would that create incentive to be in middle class, and therefore increase the size of middle class and thus reduce income inequality?
Don't be fooled Meat, he's slowly letting slip his true commie colors - as pink as his fellow Alinsky protege Barry O. No one can piss and moan as much as he did about the money in politics AND support Hillary without being a hypocrite, moron, or utter jackass. He's proven himself to be all three.
However, I worry that the political geography in the general election will be more moderate than what has propelled Trump to the Republican nomination. All the lies that the dems told about Romney and the republican war on women are actually true when spoken about Trump.
Hillary has spoiled everything she ever touched. Her husband tomcatted around on her because she was an awful wife. The Russian reset has left our relations with them in worse shape than it was before. There were four functioning Democracies in the Middle East when Bush left office, and there were barely two after term as SecState. She lied about Benghazi, lied about the destruction of al Qaeda, lied about the threat of ISIS, ignored China and the worsening state of SE Asia... yet she truly believes that she deserves to Presidency. How can anyone seriously support her? I understand supporting Bernie Sanders as the left wing idiots' version of Donald Trump (Trump being the right wind idiots' version of Bernie); but Clinton is part of the machine that has fucked up American politics to it's lowest point AND a complete failure with no core competencies apart from greed and avarice.
Gemmanu if you can't find common ground with any one who doesn't agree with you directly you are a loser. I think you are a juvenile crybaby and your insults mean very little, as a matter of fact I think you are a bit of a facist, evidenced by the way you carry on with reasonable folks. Trust me you need to grow up a bit more before you spout your shit and it is shit. I didn't start this with you but if I have to I will finish it, I will not be bullied by the likes of you.
BTW 4 functioning democracies in the Middle East the only one I know of is Isreal, Iraq was never a functioning democracy what the fuck are you talking about dumbass.
Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan. Pakistan's current rash of terror and instability makes it "barely" the second. Will you never get tired of being wrong?
