Question for TUSCL egomaniacs

san_jose_guy
money was invented for handing to women, but buying dances is a chump's game
I read about the new 007 movie, Spectre. It look really interesting. Seeing trailers, it looks really dark, like the Batman movies. The photography is different. It looks like the idea is that the villains Bond is chasing are actually a reflection of himself. He fires a sniper round through a window, and the building starts to fall on him. This suggests his own unconscious. And it all bleeds back in British Intelligence.

So for TUSCL bros, which character in the Bond movies would you most like to be?

1. James Bond 007
2. M
3. Q
4. The Evil Mastermind

You go first, SJG. How would you answer for yourself?

I've written my answer down on paper. I promise, I won't change it. I think you already know anyway.

But I'd rather let others answer first, so I don't influence them.

I'm going to say that I'd be Bond! He gets the hot women and I already introduce myself as "wipe...4got2wipe"! ;)

And I'd take the evil mastermind out with an exploding bidet! It'll be brilliant!

I always liked Q. I do all my own amp repairs, not to mention Lotus repairs so I love to tinker.

^^^^^^^^ Lotus repairs? You mean Lotus automobiles?

Anyway, of course I would want to be The Evil Mastermind.

I know that I am Meyers-Briggs INTJ, and so that is my calling.

    Second choice would be M.

James Bond is a very restrained character. He has to follow orders. When off duty he has dalliances with women, and when in the crux of a situation he can improvise, but otherwise he has to do what he is told.

They say he is inspired by a ruthless WWI spy, a consort of Mata Hari. He is also depicted as a WWII orphan. He would almost have to be, because each time they send him on an assignment, there is a very real chance he might not come back. They wouldn't want any relations asking questions. All in all, Bond leads a pretty bleak life.

In his stories, Ian Flemming is advancing a right wing world view. And in real life someone like James Bond would end up working for the other side.

So Bond himself has never been very interesting to me. I am drawn to the villains.

As a kid what I used to love to watch on television was:

John Huston's Casino Royale 1967, regrettably a tampered with version
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ24JC3f…

This movie is a spoof on the other movies. But it dramatizes how silly the stories actually are. And then after this, the official Bond movies became completely silly, especially with Roger Moore.

So many of the villains are caricatures, impossible people. Typically surrounded by beautiful women, but unable to enjoy them. And then this is how Bond is able to gain entry into their realm.

Okay, but I don't really have to take this at face value. And also, though I have not seen this new Spectre movie, it has got me thinking. If there are some villains behind the previous ones, what would they be like, and what could they be trying to do, and how is it that they are just a reflection of Bond?

Would they be wanting to terrorize the world with a weapon of mass destruction?

I think not. What they would be trying to do is to keep the world in it's present state of slavery. So just like Bond, they would be supporting the strong nation states, but unlike Bond they would have placed themselves outside of state control.

Like Bond, they would live in a world of elites. And they would want the world to continue on it's present neo-liberal trajectory, resulting in a two tier society. What they would bring about would be a kind of Anglo-American-German Fascism.

Though I'm not every going to try and set up anything like this, I am actively involved in forming a band of elite comrades. And unlike Bond, or maybe more like his shadow side, I would never want to be supporting strong nation states. I would not want to be some sort of intelligence agent, soldier, or police officer, because I would have to follow orders.

M is also interesting to me because M is the one who has overview and who thinks in strategic ways. All of these characters are coming out of the mind of the same writer. And this writer is one I do not agree with. But I do still believe that some people's need to band together and marshal their strength.

With the run of recent "Bonds" and it's PC BS, I no longer have any interest in the series.
