OT: Over her head

georgmicrodong
Just a fat, creepy old pervert.
Met a new dancer who introduced herself as "Buttercup," and then asked my name. I told her "Wesley".

Blank face.

Never saw that movie. So same as chessmaster had to Google it to find out about it.

You didn't want a dance from her anyway. She'd build you up, just to let you down.

My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!

    He's only mostly dead.

Whenever I run across something that I don't understand, I always consult urbandictionary.com.

    buttercup
The technique of catching a stanky fart in ones hand and then releasing it under someones nose.

Princess Bride. Awesome movie that I had to be convinced to see the first time, but now I'll watch it everytime it shows up.

    Definitely one of my favorites.

Had no idea and after a Google trip, I know why. I would have less than zero interest in a movie of that type.

I had to Google it too. Go figure that neither older guys nor young dancers are intimately familiar with a 30 year old kid and chick flick. ;)

And its Westley btw, with a "t" in the middle.

I saw it years ago when it came out on video. I never understood how it became such a cult classic. Perhaps a revisit is in order.

Older guys don't? I'm 64 and I knew about it. Do youselves a favor and watch it the next time it's on TV. It was directed by Rob Reiner and backed by Norman Lear, both of "All in the Family" fame.

The Princess Bride is one of those movies that can be watched and enjoyed by kids, but is really aimed squarely at adults, at least those with offbeat senses of humor. Cary Elwes, Mandy Patenkin, Andre the Giant, Billy Crystal, Carol Kane, Robin Wright and the rest of the cast give great performances. If you enjoyed the Three Stooges as a kid, the Roadrunner as a teen and Robin Hood Men in Tights later, you will love this movie.

If you didn't, well, there's no hope for you.

@rickdugan: It's not primarily a kids movie; much, not not most, indeed all, of the truly funny humor is aimed squarely at adults. Not in the sense that "adult" has been coopted by the porn industry, either.

I supposed I can see where one might, at a cursory glance, mistake it for a chick flick, but *intelligent* chicks will like it for much more then the deliberately satirical "romance".

The book is even hilariouser, though the movie is surprisingly faithful.

And you're right, it is "Westley". I should have been paying attention to the damned autocorrect. :)

    @ATACDawg

I'm not a big fan of the Stooges. Maybe that's my problem.

@motorhead: No, that's probably not it; I'm not a fan of the Stooges, either. Men In Tights is a decent parallel, but I wouldn't say that about the Stooges.

Just bing'd it. Is that a reference to "The Princess Bride"?

Yeah, maybe because I'm young but golly wikipedia sure makes it sound boring as fuck. And I watched/read "The Secret Garden" and "The Little Princess" as a kid and enjoyed it. I'm still a man damnit

Billy Crystal and Carol Kane made magic in that movie!

    I know, bad pun. :-(
