Let's just slow down a minute, here. Thor is Norse. There are a lot of hot Norwegian women. I can see some good things with a sexy, feline version of Thor. Shit, maybe Marvel should make all their characters into sexy chicks. Except Wolverine. Even though he's Canadian, a female version would look like a hairy Armenian. Think Khloe Kardashian with claws and a unibrow.
Yeah it wouldn't make any sense to replace an established character like Thor. Adding a female version I could see, but I'm thinking this isn't what mikeya thinks it is.
I think a female Thor would hurt the ratings a great deal. They could just add a new character though and still keep the old Thor.
It's like when the people doing BattleStar Galacta changed Starbucks into a female. Sure she looked good but it really messed up the story in my opinion. Now look where it is, dead after a season or two. That of course wasn't the only issue.
Seems to me it's all in the implementation. Honestly, I think the male character of Thor is pretty ho-hum. I mean, powerful guy with a hammer or whatever...not sure what you can do with all of that. Yeah, there's a huge story line about where he comes from and fathers and sons of gods and all of that, but as a cool character I just don't see it.
Iron Man, yeah, easy to be cool. But Thor? I dunno, it just doesn't grab me all of that Norse god stuff.
Now as a woman, if implemented properly, you could have an insanely hot chick with long bleached blonde hair who has this power over men and she has this alternate personality of some hot blonde secretary by day and powerful goddess by night or something. She's so hot she makes men melt and stuff like that. Now I can see that as something very cool. But they'd never do it, cuz they have to keep it clean for the kids.
^^^ I have an old Thor comic, where on the first page, he is in a tavern with his fellow warriors, and he is lifting a horse with one arm, and drinking a keg of mead in the other. Thor was pretty cool.

We both know it was a girl back in Bethlehem
And on that fateful day
When she was crucified
She wore Shiseido red and we drank tea

I did dig that Jenny McCarthy said the new Thor had "super-powered boobies". If only she'd STFU about vaccination.
